EMP Lately?

I just got a call today from them today to reconfirm my Tuesday night reservation. She said it was a tasting menu of $125.00 per person and to think about any food preferences. I probably should've asked how many courses

Dinner with the fiance

After EXHAUSTIVE research .... I have narrowed it down to

Le Bernardin
Eleven Madison Park
Daniel

I guess that means I only eliminated ma peche, but that is some progress for an indecisive person like me. We do love seafood but don't want to be constricted to only that. My fiance loves his red meat as well. We appreciate simplicity and crafted dishes. I have been reading the boards for hours and still can't decide between the three. The chowhounders all seem to love EMP...and you guys are never wrong!
Someone help a girl out!

thank you, will check it out

Dinner with the fiance

I know. Alinea is just such an amazing experience! Totally unforgettable. Alinea replaced Daniel for the number one spot in the US I guess this year

Dinner will be on a tuesday night.

As for price - we are looking to keep it under $500 for the both of us. No alcohol will be ordered as it is still Ramadan and we don't drink during the one month.

Dinner with the fiance

Hello Chowhounders
My fiance and I are looking to have an amazing meal in NYC during our 2 day visit. Looking for nice ambiance, but the food is what's important. I have looked into Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park, Daniel, ma peche....our favorite meal ever was at Alinea in Chicago if that helps with any suggestions or advice. We are really just looking for a wow experience.

Early 20's trendy foodies ready for Manhattan

thanks to everyone who helped, ended up going to buddakan for dinner, really loved the black cod and the edamame dumplings...

for dessert we went to cafeteria where a friend of mine worked, desserts were indulgent and junky, but super delicous :)

Early 20's trendy foodies ready for Manhattan

Hello All

My friend and I are doing a day trip to Manhattan tommorow, driving down from Rhode Island. We are both 23, plan on doin a lot of shopping and girly things around 5th ave, lexington etc. I am looking for a good lunch, dinner place, post dinner lounge/dessert

For lunch - something reasonable and affordable, around 5th ave shopping area, good food perhaps japanese or eclectic or new american cuisine. anything really! prefer to go cheaper on lunch and splurge more on dinner...

For dinner - new american cuisine or fusion...something uber trendy where we can get dressed up and good ambiance. I heard good things about 'Butter' and made a reservation but am still contemplating whether or not to go there

Post dinner - trendy lounge that would have drinks and dessert, heard good things about 1 Oak and Bungalow 8, any ideas?

Looking forward to any advice! thanks everyone :)

Chilean Sea Bass

sushi samba actually has a very yummy chillean sea bass does asian/latin fusion style.

Looking for Clinton Street Baking Company Style Pancakes

okay sorry for my not so descriptive description, i don't know how to describe them !!!!!! I will definitely check your recommendations ...I am totally ready for the chicago pancakes :)

Looking for Clinton Street Baking Company Style Pancakes

http://www.clintonstreetbaking.com/

Its a well known breakfast place in Manhattan, I have never had pancakes like this. Fluffy, light...absolutely amazing. If anyone has actually tried them, they will know what I am talking about. I love M. Henry, but haven't tried their pancakes.

Halal Carts in NYC

sorry I meant lamb!

Absolute best burger in Chicago?

yeah basil that was the same burger I had. I didn't like it at all, and trust me I am a huge fan of gorgonzola, i just thought it was so dry...maybe it was an off night !!! :(

dubai: near airport, open late

Right near the Airport is Garhoud and there is an awesome lebanese place that is very well known in Dubai. It is called Hallab....everyone would know it. Has excellent food and closer to the airport than Rigga Road

Must eat's in Dubai?

Dubai has a great variety of restaurants
For authentic lebanese cusinine -- Al Mallah on Dhiyafah Street, has great shwarma, falafel, manakeesh
Best steak- Definitely Manhattan Grille in the Grand Hyatt, do not miss the creamed spinach with veal bacon side
Best Romantic- Pierchic in Al Qasr- absolutely amazing view of the Burj al Arab. The cuisine is mostly seafood, very up market. Food is excellent and definitely matches up with the view
Indian/Pak- Ravi's on Dhiyafah, very homey, street type food...Chicken Thikka Inn has great Pakistani bbq, don't miss the behari kebab
Chinese- great chinese/thai at Soy in Ibn Battuta Mall

What's the best bakery in Chicago for sweets?

The red velvet cupcake with vanilla frosting from Fox and Obel is one of the best cupcakes I have ever had. The texture is smooth and light, absolutely amazing

Ultimate Chicago Food Weekend

I second Fox and Obel, their bakery and cafe is amazing! Really high quality goods
I haven't had a chance to try Cafe Des Architects but I have heard amazing things..

Romantic Holiday Dinner Out

I recommend Le Colonial, it has a really cozy bistro type feel. It is French Vietnamese fusion

Looking for Clinton Street Baking Company Style Pancakes

If any of you have been to the Clinton Street Baking Company in Manhattan you must have had their amazing pancakes. Has anyone found anything similar to them in chicago? The blueberry pancakes with the maple butter mmmmmm

Absolute best burger in Chicago?

Paradise Pup is definetely the best burger in chicago. After seeing it on the food network program Diners, Drive Ins and Dives I was really excited to check it out. It exceeded my expectations, the burger was absolutely amazing and so were the cheese fries with sour cream. Such a cute place with an authentic feel. I had heard the burger at Park Grill on Mich Ave was on of the best, I am gonna say it was even below average. It was totally dry. I think that place is just a tourist trap due to the ice rink location.

Halal Carts in NYC

The halal cart at 53rd and 6th is so over rated. I was in NYC a few weeks ago and had heard so much hype about the food. My friend and I were so excited to check it out and boy were we disappointed. The chicken/beef was dry and made in mass bulk due to the long line. It wasn't even fresh. They put the sauce in the little plastic cups rather than smothering it all over true street foodie style. There is a seperate cart for beverages...this is a street cart, why so complicated? I do not understand the appreciation for this place! The guys were NOT friendly, my friend is Arab too and he didn't even feel comfortable speaking to him. There is a much better one down the block where you can tell he is passionate about what he is cooking. He spent time on each detail and made the food with love and was also very sweet.

ISO good gyros in northwest suburbs

Cross Rhodes on Chicago Ave in Evanston has really good gyros
