Nopalito has opened

Picks:
Totopos con Chile ($4) were hot tortilla chips with chile de arbol, crema and lime. Crispy, a little bit of spice, and tasty. Nice crema dip.

Quesadilla Enchilada con Chicharron ($9) with deep fried corn tortilla, crispy pork belly, gujillo salsa, jack cheese, onions, cilantro was delicious but artery clogging. Good flavor on the pork.

Carnitas ($14) was a long braised pork, orange bay leaf, cinnamon and beer with cabbage salad, picked jalapenios, tomatillo salsa on the side. Excellent pork, but as you can see, lots of grease too. Nice balance when placed in tortillia with some of the zesty salad. Extra tortillas were $0.30 each.

Panucho de Pollo al Pibil ($4) Black bean stuffed tortilla, citrus-achiote chicken, pickled red onion and habanero salsa had good bang for the buck. Lots of chicken and very pungent flavored onions. Tortilla got soggy fast, so eat it quick.

Organic Almond Horchata ($3.95) was very good. Heavy cinamon flavor. Too much ice though.

OK:
None

Pans:
Hibiscus Blood Orange ($3.25) was too bland. Not much flavor to it at all.

They start you off with some complimentary deep fried chick peas and finished us off with a free Mexican cookie. Service was fine but we got asked too many times how we were doing. Nopalito serves up decent Mexican food at reasonable prices. The food was tasty and a nice extension of affordable restaurants in the city.

If you are looking to eat healthy, pick carefully. Their Chicken Mole looks good and is not deep fried. Desserts and Lunch will be added soon. Several beer selections as well as 3 wine from $7 a glass, $28 a bottle.

Best Dim Sum in the Bay

Not mentioned is Zen Peninsula, which while not being as good as Koi Palace, has a lots of variety on their dim sum menu. They're kinda slow for dinner.

The Kitchen's dim sum is decent but variety and quality aren't up to Koi's. Dinner at the Kitchen is the better bet.

ABC Seafood is in Foster City. Solid dim sum but not top tier.

Was in Hong Kong 3 weeks ago and gotta say the dim sum was excellent.
Some pics for drolling..

Sunday Brunch - Best Bet?

No one has mentioned a Sunday brunch buffet. While the Ritz Carlton SF is ok, I like the Ritz Carlton Navio in Half Moon Bay. About 45 min south of the city

I got some pics here:

Tim's Kitchen HK vs Tim's Kitchen Macau

We at at the Tim's Kitchen Macau location a couple days ago for lunch. Can't say that I was wow'd. Food was decent and service very good. Friend suggested we were better off going for Portuguese cuisine in Macau instead.

A few people threw up on the ride back to HK . Probably not a good idea to overeat and head back...

Make sure you hit Lung King Heen and Lei Garden IFC in HK. Awesome food.

Sunday Lunch Buffet at Spoon, HK - No longer worth the visit!!

I'll be in HK in a couple days. I can hit 1 Sunday brunch buffet, which one is the best? Conrads?

Any good buffets open not just on Sunday? Also any Shanghai buffets worth a visit?

Tip: If you are in the San Francisco area, The Sunday brunch buffet at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is tops.

Mr Fongs San Mateo - closed :(

Dragon Harbor opened on Satuday 11/8 in place of Mr. Fongs. Different cook, menu, etc. Remodelled so it looks a lot better inside. Still serves dim sum. Dinner menu is much more fancy and expensive.

Dim sum was decent surprisingly on day 2 of operation. I'd say the same or better than before.

I uploaded 4 pics. I have more pics on my site if you are interested.

Pizza Margherita/Pizzaiolo--where else?

IMHO Gialina in San Francisco has pretty good Margherita . Better than Delfina, A16..

House of Prime Rib, SF report w/ pics

Harris' 2 blocks away from HOPR has some very good prime rib

Good takeout dim sum & congee in Cupertino/Santa Clara?

Dim Sum Variety

Here's some pictures of Zen Peninsula's (Millbrae, CA near San Francisco) dim sum menu. This place has lots of variety and decent quality.. Color coding system on the menu is great for novices.
