ksb2012, if you want saucisson vaudois I will be happy to bring some back for you when I come home for a visit to Boston in July. I live in Lausanne now. Just let me know the exact type you like. I can bring dried ones in. At least I have in the past.

Lobster Reuben Sandwiches

I don't know B&G Oysters (I'm from the North Shore but have lived in Switzerland for 8 years). Where is it? As for lobster BLT, I'll pass. Scallops wrapped in bacon turn my stomach and I imagine lobster and bacon would do the same!

Lobster Reuben Sandwiches

When I lived on Nantucket in the 90's the White Elephant used to have the most divine lobster reuben sandwich with all the real stuff - sauerkraut, russian dressing, swiss cheese on rye. Another company took over and it is no longer on the menu. Has anyone seen this on a menu in the Boston, Cape or North Shore area? I would love to find it (yes, I could make it myself but it is never the same!)

Italy at the end of August - restaurant suggestions in Rome & Siena

We stayed in Rome at Christmas and right across the street from our little hovel of a rental apartment (the size of my mother's closet - no joke!) was the most stupendous restaurant, Old Bear Taverna on the via dei Gigli d'Oro a block away from the Piazza Navona. Get the cheesecake made with Ricotta yum..

Nantucket Questions

I used to live on Nantucket and have family still there. My sister has been to Lo La 41 and really likes it. She also likes Slip 14. A Nantucket tradition is the Brotherhood of the Thieves on Broad Street, just up from the ferry. Long lines but great burgers and drinks. Supposedly, Melville based his tavern on this place back when it was a whaling joint. Your best bet for getting lobsters already cooked at a price that won't break the bank is either Sayles or Gliddens. Lobstahs are lobstahs!

Boston Pizza

My sister and I ADORED Ruggles! We both worked in downtown Boston in the 80's and lived in the North End and would eat there at least three or four times a week, got to know all the waiters and waitresses. A lot of times at night we would eat at Regina's and at 5'5"+ we weighed just about 115 pounds each! Too bad Ruggles closed - I could go for one of those pizzas now.
