Hollywood Chow-ography!
Lindy and Grundy are not cheap. However, they source very local, buy from their own source. Lovely people. We've always gotten exceptional meat there, it's just not a habit we can keep up. Also, next door to them is a pub I love, The Fat Dog. Good food, great happy hour.
Best place you ate at this week?
Mozza2go - goat cheese, leek, roasted garlic, bacon pizza + rosemary olive oil cookies.
Worst LA restaurant names?
Fitrition in West Hollywood. It's not even clever. When I first got the menu, it was called Fit Food. That's not terrible but it seems to have changed to Fitrition. Terrible.
Celebrating Birthday in LA
I love the Pizzeria Mozza suggestion. A lot of the younger celebs eat at Joans on 3rd. The Glee girls were at Comme Ca the other day. Good food.

Favorite Food Vendor at the Hollywood Farmers Market
I have a weird obsession with the organic spicy tofu at the Korean booth (kimchee, other stuff). Dave's Gourmet Korean? Did some internet sleuthing, that's what I found. No cohesive list of vendors that I could find.
I also bought some marble rye from the Homeboy Industry folks. Pricey ($6) but excellent.

Restaurants in Laguna
I keep having better and better experiences at K'ya. The only problem is ordering too much food. All 5 plates we got last week were great. The bbq meatballs are usually nice but a little overcooked this time. Even something as simple as chicken and brown rice was excellent.

Are there any restaurants where you've actually tried every single item on the menu?
Know what else surprised me at Philippe? The brownie. I'm not a dessert person but now we make it a point to order it always. I don't even care if it's from some sort of mix. It is heaven.
Help? Your input on STK
7:30 is probably too early for sightings (if stars actually still go there; since the club attached to it just closed, you may be out of luck).
I've had ok meals there. Don't order the mac and cheese, it's not their best dish. The popovers they serve before the meal are some of my faves. Truffle fries are ok if you like that kind of thing. Short Rib very good. The tables against the wall are very close together, I felt like I was intruding on 2 separate dates. The service is above average.
Comme Ca down the street has good food and celebrities but that place is really loud. That said, I do actually like STK.
Modern Mexican?
I strongly second this. Their ingredients were so fresh. It could be healthy if it tried but you can't stay away from the chips. The dining room is a bit casual, you order from the counter but the service was above and beyond. The guy really knew the menu and was enthusiastic about his favorites.
HELP for high quality dining in Anaheim area
I ate at K'ya Anaheim the other night. It's not very upscale, the one in Laguna is much more so. There were some items we got that were good (Jamaican Jerk Wings, meatballs), others were just ok (pork wontons, Cuban sandwich). We ordered about 20 things and I'd say half were good.
They're served on paper plates. The service was absolutely terrible. We kept having to go in the kitchen to find our waiter for drinks, more tapas, etc.
SFV to Beverely Blvd: Great Mexican?
Although OP dining window is closed, I had to second this. I just tried this last week and it was fantastic. We tried 5 dishes, all of them were outstanding. The corn with lime, chili and poblano is wonderful comfort food. We're all kicking ourselves for not trying the short rib so we'll have to go back.

RESTAURANT FOR 40TH BIRTHDAY
The Bazaar is always mentioned as a "special occasion" spot. It's pretty fantastic but can get pricey. Food is reasonable, drinks are expensive.
Empire Kosher frozen latkes?
I've never seen them. I love the Trader Joe's ones. I felt lazy not making them this year then decided TJ's were better anyway.
Umami Burger, does hipster cred excuse terrible service?
We tried the LaBrea location for the first time. The service was lovely (both the hostess and the waitress). I had the Umami burger which was great but I wasn't crazy about the shitake mushrooms on it. My sig other had the hatch burger which was pretty excellent. As Alliebear said, the fries were nothing to write home about. They call them "thrice cooked" but they seemed almost raw. I would try the sweet potato fries next time, I was a little jealous of the tables that had them.

Too late for your Saturday request but I had Pizza Fusion last night and it was as good as I remember it. The first time I had the Hawaiian, unusual for me, but it was bacon instead of ham. Delicious.
Last night I had the bruschetta pizza - basil, roasted garlic, tomatoes, cheese - on whole wheat crust and it hit the spot. Very good flavors.

I'm a fan of Pizza Fusion. A bit of variation, not just pizza. Organic wine and beer. It's directly next to DGA.
Current best sunday brunch buffet?
I can't figure out if Four Seasons still has their opulent brunch now that Culina is open... I love the dim sum when I'm too lazy to go to SGV.

Green Apple chinese-Studio City (NY Style Egg Rolls)
Oh I've eaten Chinese food in NY many, many times. I'm just saying that they weren't up to par for Genghis. Egg rolls are actually one of the first things I get when I set foot in Manhattan.
Green Apple chinese-Studio City (NY Style Egg Rolls)
I was nervous the other night when we had them at Genghis. We have had maybe 100 orders in our lifetime; these tasted different (more celery, less pork), looked smaller. I'm hoping they were having an off night because we basically can't live without those egg rolls.
Report: Pizzeria Mozza, Animal, Jitlada, Palate, Tacomienda & Food Trucks
Please, go back to Pizzeria Mozza and get those meatballs. In fact, you can get them at Mozza to Go.

The staff at AOC was rude and condescending. Not even the greatest cheese in LA could make up for how we felt when we left.
The staff at Lucques was professional but kind. (I can't stop thinking about their short rib, either).
