Glenwood Springs Restaurant Recommendations?

We were back in Glenwood again 2 weeks ago and had a fantastic dinner at The Pullman. Good cocktails, good oysters, lots of little plates, plus entrees if you want bigger. And they have a kids menu. Mom and dad and the kids loved it.

Foodies Coming to Denver . . . What to do and Eat?

If you're here on a Saturday, try hitting up the Boulder Farmer's Market. I hear it's one of the biggest in the country, and everything there is local.

Anyone going to Cochon 555 in Denver this weekend?

I had a lot of fun. The food was very good. I'm feeling a bit ill this morning. You definitely CAN over do pork (but it was worth it).

Glenwood Springs Restaurant Recommendations?

Here's a report back. The brew pub's food was so-so, but the brewer was really nice. Juicy Lucy was pretty good. Be sure to get the potatoes au gratin. We didn't think Italian Underground was worth the wait. The place looks like a dive bar, but our meal at the Bayou was really tasty. Very friendly service too. Brunch at The Pullman was excellent. Would love to have dinner there.

Thanks again for all the recommendations.

Boulder restaurant - need one that is foodie and kid friendly (and quickly!)

Sorry I've been MIA. We ended up not going after all! I had decided on Salt and still plan to go there with the kiddos sometime.

Boulder restaurant - need one that is foodie and kid friendly (and quickly!)

We're meeting a friend from out of town for dinner in Boulder. It needs to be fit for a foodie but a place that we can take our 6 and 8 year olds. Price does not matter. We'd prefer non-Asian food, since friend is an expat in Thailand and is looking for food he can't get there as easily.
Any suggestions?

Oh, and this is for tomorrow night! :-)

Thanks in advance.

Downtown Denver 50th Bday dinner w/7 y.o.

I have very active 6 and 8 year old boys--one of which is quite picky. I'd take them to Osteria Marco, but not the others (possibly Rioja, but probably not). In fact, I've been meaning to take them to OM, but just haven't gotten around to it.

My kids love HBurger (mentioned by ShinyObjects), and we enjoy it too, but it's not really a bday destination. Maybe worth hitting up while you're in town though.

I'd also suggest TAG for cocktails. But, great choices!

Denver Restaurants: A Few Ideas/Opinions

Wasn't TAG given a somewhat poor review recently in 5280 for the service? They liked the food but slammed them on service.

Black Pearl has a cheese plate as one of their dessert options.

We did Steuben's on Wed. They have no choices on their DRW menu. You get clam chowder (which was a large bowl), their lobster roll, pudding, and a Sam Adams. They did have a choice of pudding: a butterscotch one which was listed on the menu and an off menu chocolate one with salt and a hint of chile.

Dinner at Steuben's is never really "fine dining" but it was a heck of a lot of food and was tasty. Our server wasn't the friendliest guy but adequate.

Then we ate at Black Pearl last night. The DRW menu was a little bit different than the published one. They had replaced the short ribs with a snapper dish, which disappointed my husband--especially since they moved the short ribs to the (slightly) more expensive "weekly tasting menu" ($33) and he didn't want the other dishes on that menu. They replaced the buffalo chili with a carrot curry soup.

I was really happy with the changes. We both LOVED the soup and I really enjoyed my snapper. Hubby really enjoyed his cassoulet. Dessert was a pot de creme (really more of a custard), which was delicious, and a cheese plate, also good (small, but enough for me).

Service had a couple of minor snafus, but was so friendly and other times good that it was a very enjoyable evening.

Panzano on Wed.!

We tried Rioja last night and the apps, dessert, and sides were amazing, but the meat in both of our entrees was not good (tough duck and gristly lamb). I really should have said something-kicking myself now. But everything else was so ridiculously good (Rioja "picnic" for two and the beignets, plus everything else on our entree plates), that it was still worth it. The service was outstanding too.

Denver Restaurant for a Solo Dinner, Maybe Asian?

You could do the sushi bar at Sushi Sasa. I think Osteria Marco has a bar you could sit at too, but not positive.

Pizzeria Bianco – Is Chris Bianco More Hands-Off These Days? (PHX)

I was there around Thanksgiving and he was there. The pizza was excellent. We only had to wait 1 1/2 hours. Had a nice time next door at Bar Bianco, so it went quickly.

First Bite Boulder

We tried Terroir in Longmont this week for FBB--a place we probably wouldn't have tried otherwise, which is why I love FBB. It was excellent. I had the Maple glazed duck confit, which was absolutely outstanding. I'm still having cravings for it!

Colorado Wine Fest questions

Hello,
We're planning on attending the Colorado Wine Fest in Palisade, CO in September for the first time this year.

Has anyone here been to the festival? What are some musts for the trip? Below are some more specific questions:

The website says that Sunday is for winery tours, but doesn't really have much info. Is there a bus tour or are you just on your own? Any wineries that are a must?

is the box lunch Saturday ticket worth it or are we better off looking for lunch on our own?

What restaurants in the area are a must? (Our hotel is in Grand Junction.) We're particularly interested in restaurants that focus on locally grown foods.

Thanks so much!

Denver Brewing Scene

Golden City Brewery in Golden is fantastic.

http://www.gcbrewery.com/

They tout themselves as "the 2nd largest brewery in Golden." It's a little house in the neighborhood with tables in the backyard and fabulous beer.
