Of those suggested, I did dine at the Jugged Hare. Excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly service. Thanks for the rec. |

Simpson's in the Strand; worth a visit? Thanks for the rec for the George and Vulture. Had a most pleasant lunch there and as you said, the crowd is eclectic and city oriented to say the least! |

Meeting some friends from Pt Moody and North Burnaby is about half way. Looking for recent recs-- we have been to the Pear Tree, Anton's and L'Artista with them so any other suggestions appreciated. Any cuisine of interest. (Geographically thinking of Hastings east of Cassiar but I guess the area around Lougheed Mall would also fit). |

Is it close to the station? Thanks for the info. |

Going to Oxford by train to go to Bladon (Churchill grave) and wondering where is the best pub lunch close to the railway station? |

St John menus on line look like they cater to groups-- most have minimums of 4 people? Assume by Hawksmoor, you mean the one in Spitalfield Market? |

Have seen a few older recs on this board near the Andaz Hotel at Liverpool St station but wondering if any updates. Prefer to be able to walk to the restaurant and need somewhere a single male would be comfortable. Through another post, I was recommended to the George and Vulture in the City-- any thoughts on that one? Interested in most cuisines but I have the luxury of living in a city with some of the best Asian food in the world so generally don't go Chinese/Japanese/Vietnamese when traveling (but open minded if someone has a fabulous rec!). Thanks in advance. |

Where can i find the Best Fried chicken in the GVRD Any updates on this? Some of the places noted below are closed but the picture in today's Globe made my wife and I simultaneously exclaim that we wanted to find great fried chicken (southern style). |

I finish a meeting (mid December) in the early afternoon and leave mid evening so wondering if there is anywhere at ATL recommended for a somewhat more formal than usual airport dinner? Thinking of somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, decent wines, and so on. |

Simpson's in the Strand; worth a visit? Will be spending a week in London in April and have always wondered whether the ambience and food at Simpson's is what I would want/expect. My reason for going would be these 2 factors and the history but if it is going to be too touristy ( I was not impressed by the photos on Trip Advisor of some guy in his baseball cap) I can surely find lots of other places. Wondering what London residents think of it? |

Have been invited to a traditional Scandinavian Christmas Eve dinner and asked to bring Danish/Norwegian pickled herring (apparently consumed with modest amounts of aquavit). Any ideas where to buy same (not rollmops)? |

Italian downtown Atlanta on a Sunday night Tktle pretty well says it all: looking for a nice Italian place near the Omni CNN Centre or a short cab ride away. Business colleagues so not a pizza joint but not romantic either. |

Can anyone recomend a great steak house in or near Atlanta? Can I insert into this thread and ask whether any of the places noted below are in the downtown area? |

Mica Restaurant at Spirit Ridge, Osoyoos I understand this restaurant, formerly the Sonora Room, is under new chef/management and wondering if anyone has tried recently? I am told by locals in Osoyoos that it has improved greatly. |

Large family dinner mid November- ? near Granville Island Similar to a request I put out 3 or 4 years ago, looking for somewhere for a Saturday night in November which could accommodate about 22 adults, 4 or 5 kids aged 2-7, and a couple of newborns. Complication is at least one vegan. Doing Indian at Maurya on the Friday and wondered about somewhere Italian or similar that would be reasonable price (familiar with both La Buca and La Quercia and like them but this ain't their kind of scene I suspect). My wife and I have gone to Grub several times and loved it (and they do have vegan) but not sure if they would rent out pretty much the whole place for a Saturday. Advice much appreciated. |

Spending one night in Carcassone in early September and thought would be good to try cassoulet since it is a regional dish (I believe). Wonder where to go for this? Staying right outside the walls of the fortress. |

Spending 3 nights at the Hotel Arts starting Sept 2 and wondering if there is anything in the immediate neighborhood worth trying? I have stayed at the HA before but always on business so food provided; wonder about the fish places in the harbour or whatever is good locally. |

Terrafina Restaurant at Hester Creek Winery Considering for a birthday dinner in about 2 weeks and wondering whether this is a reasonable choice? Have been to Burrowing Owl lately so not much else to consider in the Osoyoos/Oliver area? |

Went to Nice Cafe. Lovely waitress and reasonable coffee and tea. Hashbrowns were as described but afraid the eggs (poached) for both my wife and I were hard cooked when we had asked for soft. My wife had the eggs benny and both of us agreed the Hollandaise was tasteless and the ham was just sliced deli ham. Overall, worth a try but would not go back. |

The Red Onion - new owner + renovation The barber around the corner was my source; the window announcement is there so interesting to see what develops. |

The Red Onion - new owner + renovation I hear that the former owners have rented the space vacated by the Tinker's Hatch bakery at 33 and Mackenzie and looking to open an upscale bakery cafe there (name on the window paper but have forgotten it). Anyone know? |

Looking for a casual breakfast tomorrow and wondering about the Argo Cafe, Nice Cafe, or Red Wagon? Lots of reviews on all on other sites but not a lot here. |

Saturday dinner near Hotel Melia Castilla, Madrid Looking for somewhere walking distance from the hotel for good local flavour (food flavour and atmosphere flavour if possible). Just one person. |
|

Looking for a specific wine with dinner I recently enjoyed a William Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon in NYC and wondered where in downtown SF I might find this? Staying 2 nights early Feb at the Palace Hotel on New Montgomery street so somewhere close would be great. (I realize this is a bit of a backward request in wine before food but the wine was exceptional). |

Over the last 72-96 hours I can only see the topics by "last post" rather than "date started". Hope this is not permanent? |

Thanks to both of you. |

Thanks Sam but called and was told that GI Tea has discontinued it; can you suggest any specific place on Fraser or Main St? |

My wife was given some cardamom flavoured tea by a friend who had been to India and has asked for some as a stocking stuffer. Since time is a bit short to get to India and back, any ideas where this can be found in Vancouver? |
|

Bengal room/lounge in the Empress I guess I am a bit ambivalent! I have been to the BL for a drink before and it is lovely. I live in Vancouver so lots of good Indian food-- guess I was thinking the combo would be interesting. |

Bengal room/lounge in the Empress looking at a weekday night in Victoria and wondering if the Indian/curry buffet at the Bengal Room is worth a try? |
