Definitive Kosher cookbook for newbie?

Joan Nathan is an authority on Jewish Cooking. She has several books out there and they offer not only recipes, but history as well. I just got a cookbook out of the library called "Cooking Jewish" by Judy Bart Kancigor and it appears to be a great book. The recipes are basic and are a compilation of her family recipes and friends through the years. It's fun reading, with photos and lots of explanations about the traditions. I'm looking forward to trying some of the recipes for Passover. Just about to make some Passover almond thumbprint cookies from the epicureous website for the first time. Good luck,

Attman's is still around....for 94 years! And the hot dogs are still as delicious as ever.

70's Appetizers - what did you eat? Need Ideas Please

I just recently made spinach balls for a retro party. I'm not sure what decade they came from, but they were a huge hit! Just google recipes and they are all about the same. You can make them ahead of time and freeze without cooking, and then bake them when you need them. Whatever recipe you use, saute onions and garlic first and then add to other stuff.

I need suggestions for keeping baked appetizers hot...

You can find a company that rents ovens for events. Look for a restaurant supply place in your area. There are hot boxes also, but they don't keep things crisp. Good luck.

Requesting Decadent Blondie Recipe

I just made this recipe, and took the advice about creaming the butter and sugar and adding the eggs separately. I left out the nuts, but otherwise followed the recipe. They are awesome....much better than the toll house recipe. Thank you for enabling me to bake the perfect blondie! I just tasted them while they are still warm, so hopefully they will be just as delicious when cool.

No More Good Bakeries? (Balto. version)

There is a great bakery in Hampstead called Snickerdoodles. They have fabulous ribbon cake/rainbow cake filled with either jelly or chocolate, excellent chocolate top cookies, beautiful and delicious specialty cakes, and whatever else you could want from a bakery.
