Where to get ham in Brooklyn?

Blue Apron on Union definitely has a least one if not two.

Methodist Hospital Brooklyn

I would just go to La Bagel Delight right across the street. Far better than purity, never been to Zito's though...

Why Yelp Sucks!

Agreed.

Park Slope's Changing Landscape

Leaf and Bean is gone as well: http://www.heresparkslope.com/home/2011/12/30/leaf-and-bean-to-close-january-15th-after-39-years-on-sevent.html

This blog also documents other closings in the general vicinity due to landlords charging rents that are too damn high... (Sorry, could not resist)

Also, it seems to indicate that Barrio is only renovating.

Is there a place that sells cheese piroshki in nyc?

Maybe: First Ave Pierogi & Deli Co - 130 1st Avenue LES

favorite brooklyn butchers

Agreed... I got a great lamb shoulder roast from Fleishers yesterday. The meats looked great and they had a wide selection. I'm not sure if they are going to bump los paisanos as my go to butcher, but they're definitely in the running.

Where to buy lamb (raw) in the boroughs?

Try fertile crescent grocery and halal butcher on Atlantic avenue near times plaza.

Ethical question about finding a nail in packaged salad blend. UPDATE!

Probably shouldn't have sent the nail in... Now you have no proof and they have no reason to get back to you or otherwise make reparations.

Butcher in Brooklyn

I would not recommend M&S, which is actually a few blocks farther away from Flatbush than A&S which was far superior in my opinion. At the end of the day, M&S simply doesn't do enough business to keep a wide variety of fresh meats in stock like Paisanos. I live closer to M&S than Paisanos and regularly drive past M&S to go to Paisanos because I got tired of going in there and being told that they don't have oxtail or quail or pork belly or duck etc...

You could also try the Montauk Club in Park Slope...

Does anyone remember this place in Bay Ridge?

Was it on fourth avenue somewhere in the high eighties?

Top Chef Masters 2 Ep. #7 - 05/19/10 (Spoilers)

I'm not saying that they're lying, I am saying that I don't believe them however... Anyway, I still can't take her seriously as a host or judge.

Top Chef Masters 2 Ep. #7 - 05/19/10 (Spoilers)

Actually eating the food would be an affront to her 200 calorie/day diet... I really just can't trust someone about food who looks like they haven't had a decent meal in 35 years.

I want to shoot the works for a group business dinner

"le bernardin, despite three michelin stars, is not stuffy."

Obviously, I, and others, think it's stuffy; you don't... OK: Let's just leave it at that... Although, I am curious as to what restaurant you would in fact think of as stuffy, if not LB? and, are you talking about the air circulation and lumen level or the general vibe? (i.e. when I say stuffy... I'm talking about the general vibe.)

I want to shoot the works for a group business dinner

I agree. It's pretty stuffy vis a vis what the op is looking for.

Grilling in Prospect Park

Better to blah blah blah, than not to grill.

Top Chef Masters 2 Ep. #5 - 05/05/10 (Spoilers)

I don't know... The "I'm talking here" yelling segment, looked pretty authentic in the disliking of Ludo department to me.

Birthday dinner recs in Bklyn?

Grocery on Smith is great, albeit a little cramped.

What do you eat at Katz's if you're not eating pastrami?

When I don't get pastrami I get corned beef with Russian dressing on a club roll with some coleslaw on top. The franks are good as well.

Looking for ideas for an 80's theme party

Anything with sun dried tomatoes.

Dinner with friends - should they show up empty handed?

I'm talking specifically about this issue not dancing pins or generalities... and, honestly, if you don't think that this issue is nuanced and complex, that just goes to prove my point that the issue is considerably more nuanced and complex than: "do you give to get, or do you give for the joy of giving?"

Dinner with friends - should they show up empty handed?

Perhaps... If you only have friends over once a year. Aside from that, the question (as evidenced by the length of this thread) is considerably more nuanced and complex.

Dinner with friends - should they show up empty handed?

I think it probably means "entail" http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/entail

The authenticity of a restaurant, or "what's the ethnicity of your server?"

So they are misunderstanding the law... Thanks for clearing that up.

The authenticity of a restaurant, or "what's the ethnicity of your server?"

I think that either you folks are misunderstanding the law or hooters should be sued by every man in America and every woman in America without hooters...

Yelp targeted by class action lawsuit

Interesting Miami New Times article: http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2010-04-22/news/yelp-has-buckled-to-pressure-but-it-ain-t-enough/

"They're the modern-day Mafia. Maybe they're not holding a gun to my head, but they're playing the same game," says Taylor, who is also a plaintiff in the lawsuit. "It's too late for policy changes to help out. I just hope all this negative publicity finally tarnishes the company."
