I had dinner there last evening and our experience was wonderful. Service was great, food and cocktails were delicious-even the vegetarian plate got good reviews. The fan favorite at the table were the polenta fries. Didn't have dessert, so I can't speak to that, but everyone at the table last night is excited to return.

E/S NEW CHEF

I doubt it. Jeremy was invloved with the whole Commonwealth/Great Bay venture at the beginning so maybe they are bringing him back to revamp things at Eastern Standard?

Nicest possible dining with infant

We used to dine out with our infant and I personally think you can dine out practically anywhere as long as you go early enough, and respect the fact that even though you have the baby with you-you are still in a fine dining establishment. If I remember correctly, a four month old might spend a good portion of the dinner snoozing..so enjoy yourselves!

Visiting Boston - top choice?

I agree with Bob on Tresca-It is not great, and is very expensive for what you get. Sad though, because I used to like it a lot.

C & L Frosty in Sherborn [Moved from Boston Board]

A sentimental favorite of mine. They have yummy fried clams, believe it or not. Great lime rickeys!

30th Birthday Dinner for 2

I agree with Sal on the Oak Room recommendation. I went recently for a quiet special occasion dinner and it was perfect. Good food, good wine list, great room.

What are your current Top 5 food cravings/addictions for MetroWest?

I have one-- The lobster and fig pizza at Zebra's in Medfield.

Looking for outside seating - metrowest area?

Zebra's and Noon Hill Grill in Medfield both offer outdoor seating. Neither are particularly scenic, but the food is decent to good at both places.

Places near Ashland

I wouldn't recommend The Sherborn Inn for more than just drinks in the tavern. Went there a week ago and the food was just awful. I agree with the recommendation for Zebra's in Medfield. Also in Medfield, The Noon Hill Grill is also good, but I wouldn't call it great.

Restaurant week sucks! [moved from Boston board]

I think Tresca is slipping-regardless of RW. The service was laughable, and the food was mediocre at best. Maybe its time for a new chef?

A tourist's review...

The last time I had the Boston Creme Pie at the Parker House, it was frozen. Sort of a let down for the out of towners I was with!

The Cottage Wellesley MA

Ate lunch there yesterday. It is a beautiful restaurant, but yes very, very noisy.

Had sandwiches- Eggplant Panini and Cottage Club and both were very good.

Service was friendly, but fast..almost too fast...Our food was out about 5 minutes after we ordered-which could be considered a plus if you are dining there with children.

Italian in Boston's North End

I love Tresca and Taranta.

Sauciety anyone? Not much posted as of yet...

Haven't been back since my first visit in the spring. Not anything worth rushing (or not rushing) back for. Most of the items we tried seemed as if they had been frozen,,even the lobster..and some even tasted of freezer burn. I could get that at home! ; )

North End for 13

I think Tresca would definitely fit the bill if you requested that you be seated downstairs.

North End w/a dozen people from work?

I second the Tresca recommendation. I have been to two dinners with large parties there and they do a nice job. I am fairly certain you can work with them on a menu if you want to make sure there is something for everyone.

St. Anthony's Feast

We had pizza and Peroni at Regina's beer garden on Sunday and it was fantastic. Ice cold beer, great pizza and phenomenal people watching!

Chris Douglass's (Ashmont Grill) Next Venture

Like others, I really wanted to love Ashmont Grill, but the place is so inconsistent, and the waitstaff and managers seem to not care one iota about service, which is sad because when the place opened they were touting the whole "your neighborhood restaurant" shtick. (Nice run-on sentence!)

I have been served undercooked pizza with raw dough and when I told the waitress she said that I should have ordered the pizza well done. Okey dokey.

I went with my husband and our infant for an early Sunday dinner and they were super rude about seating us and wanted us to put our infant carrier (with infant inside) on the floor next to the table. My husband and I were ready to lay down some $$ on dinner and a nice bottle of wine, but we changed our mind very quickly. Again, not very neighborhoody.

North End Italian: have I done my homework?

I have always had good meals at Piccolo Nido, and the owner Pino is very friendly and welcoming.

Bachelorette party - restaurant recommendations?

I had a small bachelorette party and we had dinner at Fugakyu. We had one of the tatami rooms off of the sushi bar. The atmosphere is definitely cool, and the food is great.

Eclano question

I think the food has suffered since Dan deCarpis left. But I also felt that the food slipped when Duffy took over for him at Via Valverde. Maybe it just isn't fair to compare the two chefs?

Great Bay

It is funny that you say that about the manager because lately every time I have been to Great Bay, the food and drinks are good, but the staff seems really stressed out. It is definitely a good choice post Red Sox.

Where to eat at North End?

The only thing Fiore really has going for it is the roof deck, and if it is a nice night, it will be jammed. The food is NOT great and the "vibe" is nothing special at Fiore. I would try Taranta, or if your budget allows, try Tresca (but sit downstairs because it is more fun).

Tresca recs?

I LOVE the lamb skewers and veal meatballs on the bar menu. I also really enjoy the cioppino.

Rehearsal Dinner in or near Brookline?

I would like to "third" Lineage. I have noticed a number of larger groups there (seemed to be showers) and it is a nice space, even though they do not have a private room. the food is great, too!

Rare chance to spend more than usual- dont want to waste it

If you have your heart set on the North End, I suggest Tresca over Fiore. (In my opinion the only thing Firoe has going for it is the roof deck.) Tresca will accomodate a group and they have a great wine list..and great food!

Dining within walking distance to Fenway

You might consider Great Bay (at the Hotel Commonwealth). You could even leave your car with the valet during the game...at least you could the last time I went.

Need Lunch Spot that is toddler friendly and close to Copley

I have eaten a bunch of times at the Copley Legal with my toddler and each time the staff was very accomodating and patient.

"Maxwell 148"

I went once about a year and a half ago. The decor is very Fung Shui. I seem to remember bamboo and sheer curtains and even a cool water feature (?). The menu at the time of my visit was "Asian fusion", and though the food was good, nothing really blew me away. The chef/owner walks around in jeans and a chef coat to see how everyone is enjoying their meal. But, who know in a year and a half, things could have changed drastically!
