Venice restaurant gift card
I would like to get a gift card for some friends who just got married and just bought a house in Venice. I don't live in the area so could use some recommendations for a place with fantastic food, no real cuisine restrictions. Ideal ambiance would be intimate, friendly, casual, possibly romantic but doesn't have to be. Thanks!
40th bday party rec - private dining room
Agree on DBGB, just went to a private party there. I would also throw Alta on the list. Both are rooms off/through the kitchen which adds to unique-ness, I think.

Thanks! We actually took one of them to Boqueria on her last visit so these suggestions are right on track. Appreciate it.

Need recs in Chelsea or surrounding areas for tonight
Looking for dinner recos for tonight. We will be meeting friends whoa re driving in through the snow, they are staying near 7th Ave/ 20th St. We can take subway but trying to make it walkable for them. They are foodies from California, they love interesting cuisine, relaxed atmosphere and famous chefs but don't want to spend too much and definitely not a formal atmosphere. Maybe spend $125/couple. Also trying to avoid Italian, as one person is on a very low-carb diet plan. I thought maybe Craftbar or Crispo but nothing seems quite right...

Need Friday lunch rec in Murray Hill
I second Vezzo and Penelope. Also Blue Smoke (27th & Lex). If you want a sports bar (considering you're going to game), Brother Jimmy's is at Lex & 31st.
Anthony Bourdain in Istanbul
So fun! I'm leaving today for a vacation to Istanbul and the Greek islands. Will def want to check out this fish market.
ATHENS
Tell me more -- am going to be in Athens for 2 nights, 1 day on the tail end of my upcoming trip (Istanbul, Santorini, Athens). Also curious which neighborhoods of Athens you found best for lively and delicious dining options?
Buddy's in Annapolis?
Well, we ended up doing Buddy's anyway because we were downtown and the decision wasn't entirely mine. It was my first blue crab experience and I did like the presentation, atmosphere and was fine with the crabs themselves. But, the following day we went to the Crab Claw in St. Michaels -- those were markedly better! So, my Buddy's experience wasn't bad because I had nothing to compare it with at the time. I do love the crab experience! Thanks, everyone, for your input. Will definitely do Cantlers next time I am in area.
Buddy's in Annapolis?
Doing a one-night trip to Annapolis and we were recommended Buddy's for a casual place for crabs. Anyone have thoughts on that or other suggestions in downtown area? Thanks.
Wednesday wine specials
Anyone know of restaurants with Wednesday wine specials (half priced bottle night, etc)? I know a couple good places with Monday and Tuesday specials -- but how about Wednesday? Thinking a wine bar, Italian, tapas, sharing plates etc... thanks in advance!
GREAT but Affordable Sushi
I will second the Iron Sushi rec. I order it for delivery 2-3 times a month and it's fine (not overly fancy but better than average) to eat in as well.

Chicago-style pizza in NYC for inauguration office party; delivery to midtown
You might have to go with the chain Pizzeria Uno. Not as good as Lou Malnatis, Ginos, etc (I'm a native Chicagoan) but it should do.
here are the NYC locations: http://www.unos.com/location.html
Another idea is that Lou Malnatis will ship pizzas (packed in dry ice) that you can cook yourself: http://www.tastesofchicago.com/category/1
Can't get into Spice Market or Megu. Where to go?
Mai House might be an option

Tribeca pizza
A few weeks (months?) ago I heard about a new pizza place opening up in Tribeca -- not just a pizza joint but a restaurant with other Italian items, decent wine, etc. Does this ring a bell to anyone? I can't for the life of me remember the name and would like to try it.

Turkish food - Beyoglu, Ali Baba or Sip Sak?
Never been to those but do love Turkish Kitchen on 3rd Ave (28th St)
moderately priced restaurant in Chelsea or West Village
Maybe I was just lucky with where I got sat -- it is a pretty big space. It was fine for us but you never know.
moderately priced restaurant in Chelsea or West Village
Otto (took my parents here because my dad has noise issues)
Moustache (very good Middleeastern and very reasonable, cash only though)
These aren't as quiet, but I wouldn't say they're loud:
Fig & Olive in Meatpacking
Spotted Pig (since you're entertaining guests this is very "NY" as well)
First Date in East Village
Bourgeois Pig on 7th Street is excellent. Fun, small atmosphere, mostly fondue and cheese plate type stuff to eat and on Tuesdays it's half-price bottles of wine.
Chinese stirfry? for visiting teenager
Thanks everyone, for the ideas. We ended up going to Ruby Foo's. As much as venturing into Times Square did not excite me, my niece loved both Ruby Foo's and the Times Square people watching before and after. She really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food (she only ordered a sweet n sour chicken stirfry but I think it was the experience she'll remember). She even wanted to stay and order tea after we finished eating. Food was very accessible for a teen. Personally, I really did love Ruby Foo's steamed shrimp dumplings and the lettuce wraps were a fun choice as well. Pleasantly surprised.
Momofuku menu...seemed limited tonight
Not sure. I was there on Monday and very pleased with selections. There was a cold roast beef noodle special, also ordered the pork buns, crispy vegetables and kimchi stew. All wonderful. We did specifically ask for the specials though so maybe that is it? They had about 3-4 specials.
Murray Hill Restaurant Suggestions - GOOD ONES
Chiming in here... Penelope is wonderful for brunch.
I'll second Bar Milano. I personally prefer ThaiNy to Jaiya. Incredi is really good Chinese food (not much atmosphere but fantastic takeout)
My absolute favorite is Mexico Lindo -- best Mexican food in NYC, I think.
Chinese stirfry? for visiting teenager
My 14-year-old niece is visiting for three days. Doing the whole tourist thing and am probably dragging her to a few restaurants that the adults in our group enjoy for most of the time. I would like to indulge her for one meal and she's mentioned that her favorite thing is the Chinese/Mongolian stir-fry bars (like Stir Crazy or Big Bowl chain restaurants). From what I understand from Google and these boards -- these places are basically nonexistent for a sit-down dinner in Manhattan.
Any recommendations here? If not the stir-fry bar, is there a restaurant with an atmosphere like one of the Asian chain restaurants? Trying to stay near Midtown but not that picky. Thanks!!
