Suggestions for West Nashville

If we are talking burgers in the Vandy area, then Brown's Diner has to be on your list. Ombi is an underrated dinner spot on Elliston Place; in addition to the chains Ruth's Chris and Fleming's, Jimmy Kelly's is nearby. This is a very "Nashville" place to dine, but I have been disappointed w/ the quality recently. Depending where you are staying, Mambu and Midtown Cafe are good dinner spots as well. A good lunch, beer selection and the best wings (roasted as opposed to fried) I've experienced can be found at Broadway Brewhouse. All of these should be walking options. Enjoy your stay.

10 Best Southern Hotdogs?

I'll second Bill's in Washington, NC. Had heard about them for years, but had not had one (ok, three) until visiting my parents over the holidays. Unique spicy bean chili.

Agreed. Unfamiliar with the Standard. What/where is it?

Need help for Emerald Isle NC

I was there a year ago this time. Had drinks and apps at a Martini bar in town on the N/W side of the maid road. Creative, fun food and the 'tini was plentiful. There is a great place for Hatteras style chowder in town. Plain looking, blue building on the same side of the road - it might be Jordan's. Oddly, there is also a great wine shop / gas station in town as well. Ask a local, they should be able to point you in the right direction. Have fun.

What's in the Nashville larder?

The produce stand at Hillsboro/Sharondale has great Silver Queen and Peaches & Cream corn as well as Bradley tomatoes right now.

Nashville: Monell's, Prince's, Stan's, Wilma Kaye's. Who's the best?

I'd throw in Bro's. Locally-owned and run by Acadania transplant Darrell Breaux. Charlotte Pike and 36th. Good cajun/southern and exceptional daily specials.

Which airport in the U.S. has the best food?

Very good crab cake at BWI, since renovation. Interstate BBQ in Memphis; Authentic Mexican at Houston Hobby, near the ticketing area.

Best Chain Pizza?

Maggiano's margherita is excellent. Add italian sausage. Listed as an app, but works as a meal w/ a salad.

Sonic Drive-In Is it worth seeking out?

SuperSonic (2X Patty) #2, large onion rings, Route 44-sized root beer. Best fast food onion ring by a long shot. I'll go out of my way for those when the notion strikes. Sonic tops my list of fast food joint.

Wait 'til your on a road trip to hunt one down, though.

Must Eat Places in Nashville, TN

I guess I'll take a stab as well - I'll try to include as much local flavor as possible. Burger - Rotiers or Brown's Diner. I personally go w/ Brown's. It's more of a beer-n-burger place, while Rotier's is meat and three. Not a burger, but another local spot that gets overlooked is Bro's, a real cajun joint w/ great, simple menu and daily specials. Think about that for lunch. On Charlotte.

If you are a beer drinker, check out Yazoo Brewery's tasting room in the Marathon Village. Great beers - their Amarillo Pale Ale is about the only beer of any kind I drink any more. Also available at many local pubs. Broadway Brewhouse (Midtown) has the best wings I've had anywhere - meaty and oven roasted, as opposed to fried.

For breakfast, my vote is for Loveless. A little bit of a ride, but plenty of shops around it now for looking around while you wait. A very different, and very old Nashville spot awaits at Wendell Smith's on Charlotte, if you have an interest in diner/meet-n-three breakfasts.

I think Margot and Zola are generally regarded as top two food experiences. For a slightly less $$, there are some great options. Germantown Cafe is very good and reasonable w/ a view of downtown, MamBu is solid (Midtown). Bound'ry is more exciting w/ a variety of combinations and opportunity to order tapas style for sharing. Also a lively bar scene there. Cafe Nonna (traditional Italian in a cozy, comfortable setting) and Park Cafe (upscale southern?) are personal favorites and within a block of one another in Sylvan Park. Park Cafe is perhaps my favorite for consistency, quality, and interesting combinations.

Have a great trip.

Great Restaurant Needed In Franklin Tennessee!

Franklin has hundreds of restaurants, but nearly all are chains in the Cool Springs area. There could be something out there I don't know about, but I would suggest driving into town (Nashville) to find a spot. Personal favorites: Cafe Nonna - small, great atmosphere, traditional Italian, unpretentious. Park Cafe - upscale southern(?), consistently excellent, safe bet. Outdoor seating available. Try the pork chop and the mac/cheese (really). Both of these are on Murphy Road w/in a block of one another off of West End. Bound'ry has great, creative food and a menu that promotes sharing, so lots of opportunities to try differnt things.

In terms of highly rated spots, Cafe Margot (East Nashville), Zola (West End) and Capitol Grille (downtown, Hermitage Hotel) usually lead the list.
