Ricky P's Orleans Bistro-save the calories

So after reading the rave reviews in all the local newspapers we headed to St. Pete this weekend to give the new Ricky P's Orleans Bistro a try. We ordered a muffalletta, Boudin Balls, Oysters, Crab Cakes and Bread Pudding. The muffalletta was served on Publix French Bread, the meat was standard deli style cold cuts, nothing like a "real" muffalletta. Boudin Balls were ok. Crab Cake were ok. The Bread Pudding was served with "home made rum sauce", in my opinion tasted like Scope, yes, like the mouthwash Scope. The server was really slow, and then once we got our check they had charged us a $1.00 extra for the Bread Pudding and a $1.00 extra for the oysters. I pointed out the mistake to the server, so she then took our check to the back, brought it back out to us and said "they fixed it". They only credited us $1.00, not the full $2.00 that they overcharged us for.

In my opinion, save your money and calories!

St. Petersburg/Tampa restaurant recommendations

Pane Rustina-one of the best restaurants in Tampa
Terra Sur-yum
Salt Rock Grill-good but overpriced
Try El Puerto in Ybor City for great Argentinian

Fresh Market Buffet at Hard Rock Casino Tampa

Only if your going to pig out on crab legs and oysters. All the other food is nasty.

A fun place to eat for a rowdy, loud group of 6, approx. $20-$30 per entree? Good drinks=IMPORTANT!

Tell me about it, I'm not ordering any food just to prove my point.

A fun place to eat for a rowdy, loud group of 6, approx. $20-$30 per entree? Good drinks=IMPORTANT!

I reccommended Jaleo's, Todd English, PJ Clarkes', Mon Ami Gabi, Holstein's, and a couple other's that were reccoemended, and unfortunatly the girl that is making the final decision nixed all of them, she decided on Lavo which got terrible reviews! Thanks for your recs everyone, sorry I am not putting any of them to use!

Dinner for group of 13, entrees around $40.00 plus drinks, tip etc.

Looking for a good restaurant that is not TOO pricey, approx. $40 per entree plus drinks, tips etc, somewhere that can accommodate a party 13. We are a loudER group of people, so somewhere that is not too stuffy please. A cool atmosphere/good view would be a PLUS! Any type of food except sushi, and if it's a steakhouse we would need other choices on the menu, like Italian or fish (one person in the group does not like steak). Great drinks are a MUST :) So far we are considering Mon Ami Gabi or P.J. Clarkes. Thanks!

I heard the food is terrible at Dicks?

A fun place to eat for a rowdy, loud group of 6, approx. $20-$30 per entree? Good drinks=IMPORTANT!

It's been YEARS since I've been to Vegas. My friends are going to Vegas in March and I told them I would help them find a good place for a birthday dinner. This is a very rowdy crew, 6 people total, they are trying to keep the budget down to about $20 per entree plus drinks, dessert tip etc. Is $20 per entree even possible in Vegas these days? The most important part of the dinner will be a fun place to accommodate this LOUD bunch, a fun atmosphere/good views. Good drinks and friendly staff are a must. I know this is asking a lot, so if the entree price must go up (to maybe $30.00 per entree), I understand. They are open to any type of food except sushi. PLEASE HELP!! :( Any suggestions?

P.S.
They are staying on The Strip and will not have a vehicle

1st Visit to Atlanta, where to chow for lunch, dinner and a little nightlife action? THANKS! :)

Hello all! I've never been to Atlanta before, going last minute this Monday for a convention. We will really only have 1 full day to check out the sites before attending the convention Tues and Wednesday, so I would love a rec for a specific area/neighborhood of Atlanta to check out for lunch, dinner, walking around/browsing then a bit of nightlife. For food we are not picky at all, just want something really tasty, not too pricey. For lunch maybe $13 tops for a meal, plus drinks and tax and tip, for dinner something $20 or less for the meal plus drinks, tax and tip. For nightlife/drinks I would like a lounge, not too pricey on the drinks and not pretentious. I have heard about Buckhead being a nice area for browsing and chowin? Also, I read a bit about Little Five Points which sounds interesting, THANKS FOR YOUR RECS PLEASE! :)

Lower Keys Dinner Rec, Great Fried Seafood Under $15 pp??

Hello All! Heading to The Keys in early November. Looking for a dinner rec for my boyfriend's birthday. It's going to be a Friday night. He loves good fried seafood, something casual, under $15pp. I was looking into The Shrimp Shack on Stock Island but it looks like this place may have closed? Any other recs for something similiar would be great! Any of the Lower Keys or Key West we are open to. Good fried fish, fried lobster, raw oysters, thanks so much! FYI, I have eaten at BO's, this is a good choice however I know once they run out of fresh fish they close for the evening so I wanted a couple other places to choose from. Thanks!

Queens Indian Rec

Hello all! I'm thinking of checking out Jackson Heights for Indian clothing/jewelry stores, then head somewhere else in Queens for food. I've heard that Floral Park/Glen Oaks and Queens Village is better for Indian food (compared to JH). Any suggestions on a good place to eat? Not interested in buffets or vegetarian Indian. Somewhere we can get entrees for $15 or less if possible. Also, any feedback on whether Jackson Heights is worth the trip for the shopping would be appreciated as well (I know, I know, it's a food board).

Thanks!

Looking for the best Tampa has to offer

I agree with El Puerto in Ybor City. For drinks after El Puerto check out Lower Red, it's a bar only about a block from El Puerto, great drinks and atmosphere. (I must highly disagree with Bernini, just...don't...do...it...)

Laughing Cat has great Italian food, you may be pushing the $20.00 per plate, but you can def find something for under $20.00

Another great spot is Samurai Blue in Ybor City for sushi

Have fun!

Have you tried Tangerine on Kennedy in Tampa? If so, how was it?

Thanks for the review, doesnt sound like CL was very impressed either. Saleems is great!! Love their gyro and greek salad! I have to disagree about New York New York pizza, go down 7th to Demmis Market and you will never go back to NY NY again. Demmis rivals some of the best pizza in NYC IMO! :)

Finally tried Datz...oh my...so good...

Ohhh..Pane is my absolute favorite hands down. Funny you mention the beer prices, my friends are huge fans of Datz and theyve been begging me to go for months, I finally relented last night and they were actually making a pretty big deal last night about how cheap the beer is and how they think they should raise the prices to increase profits:)

Finally tried Datz...oh my...so good...

So I was a little hesitant to try Datz because when they first opened I saw some mixed reviews. I finally went last night and now I'm hooked! Nice atmosphere, good selection of beer and wine. I had a turkey sandwich on yummy crusty bread, can't remember what it was called but it had cole slaw and some sort of sweet sauce on it. All the sandwiches come w homemade potatoe chips drizzled in blue cheese dressing. For dessert I had a little berry tort with some sort of jelly on the inside. Unbelievable. I also taste tested key lime pie and red velvet cake. This is my new fave place to eat!

Chinese food rec in Chinatown? Lunch or dinner, lower budget

Thanks everyone, we ended up eating at Amazing 66. I really wanted to try Big Wang but we couldnt find it. At Amazing 66 we had the wonton soup, short ribs, beef and brocoli, some sort of chicken and chow mein, everything was good but I could not stand how the servers literally hovered over our table the entire time staring at us. Good food, annoying service, (however, the service was fast!) Thanks! :)

dessert near Fifth Ave or Yorkville

I had dessert at Andre's Hungarian this past weekend, just because Two Little Red Hens was closed, the cheesecake was yummy!
