Bday coming up...want to do some sort of baking/cooking class.
im planning a friends bday that is coming up and want to try something different and more interactive. other than just eating, i thought about possibly signing up for a group cooking or baking class. I know of butterlanes cupcake baking class: http://www.butterlane.com/classes.html for the price, its a good deal and not too pricey for what you get ($35 pp with 10 people)
can anyone recommend something similar, either baking or cooking will be fine.
thanks!
New York Taste 2009

Big Apple BBQ Suggestions
i showed up today at 10:30 and grabbed a bench to sit on since the grass area was closed. i have to say, it was not that crowded as compared to last year. although, the lines for the regular attendees was huge, as normal, the fast pass lines were very very fast. the guards are the gates were anal not letting anyone pass without a fast pass. this was so much better then last year. i managed to be 5th on line when salt licked opened up. i barely waited 3 mins on the fast pass lines, (not counting salt lick b/c the fast pass line was huge at 3pm). if you want the food, you gotta go early and beat the crowds and claim a bench. i got in all the good ones at 11AM, and slowly made my way to the other ones. SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN LAST YEAR.
Ranger Texas BBQ (Legends) in Jackson Heights
just went to legends for some bbq after googling about it.
i have to say, i was a bit weary about getting food here after reading about it. but all in all, it was pretty good. the bar had about dozen people watching the game
my gf and i ordered the sampler with onion rings and creamed spinach on the side.
- the pulled pork was okay. not the best but it was good.
- the sausage was very yummy. i could eat many many links.
- the pulled beef was good.
- the brisket was tasty. a bit try. but the fattier pieces we go was very tasty.
- onion rings were run of the mill frozen rings, but very tasty and crunch
- the creamed spinach was very creamy. .loved it.
i have to be hones, the beef, and brisket were kinda dry. most of the food looks like it has been sitting there, but that aside, i will be going back again.
pio pio 34th street: what the heck?
ouch. that sucks.
ive had only good experiences with pio pio. ive only been to the one in jackson heights.
Looking for a bar for a party
Hey. Im trying to find a nice in manhattan bar to hold a party for about 30-40 people. the top requirement would have to be great bar food (and not just hot wings). the next requirement would be a nice selection of booze (bottled and tap).
i came across Waterfront Ale House which looks pretty awesome. i emailed them about finding out if they do an all you can drink for a couple of hours for the group. but it seems very nice.

Labor Day weekend in Annapolis MD
Hey all.
I'm planning to visit Annapolis this coming labor day weekend. We are staying there from Friday-Monday. I am looking for some food suggestions for that weekend.
I thought about taking a food tour while we are there: http://www.zerve.com/CapCityCol/Food/rating
something i found: Buddys: http://www.buddysannap.com/buddysrestaurant.html
I am looking for some cheap eats along with some finer establishments for a nice dinner one night.
Thanks ahead of time!
