Breakfast near Fairmont?

Thanks!

Breakfast near Fairmont?

What are good options for breakfast during the week near the Fairmont? I will definitely need a good croissant at least once! Also, not necessarily near the Fairmont - favorite spot for brunch on Saturday?

Conference in Montreal late June

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes, we are from Mississippi :). No particular food restrictions, but I agree with what you'd avoid - we get that at home and in New Orleans. Traditional French is a must. For the client dinner I imagine they'd like to keep it under $750? If there are good options close to the Fairmont, then yes.

Conference in Montreal late June

Hello everyone! I am tagging along to a conference with my husband the third week in June, Wednesday-Sunday. We are very excited since neither of us have visited Canada before and Montreal looks like a beautiful city. We are needing some help with restaurant recommendations, since the only one we know of is Garde Manger from TV :). We are staying at the Fairmont, where the conference is being held, so some places that are convenient to that would be great, but we are willing to venture further away via cab or Metro. We also need somewhere that would be good for a larger group (maybe 10 people) for a client dinner. I will likely be on my own for lunch at least a couple of days. We can have one splurge meal, but the rest should probably be more reasonable - i.e. $25 dollar mains instead of $50... Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

GIRL'S WEEKEND TO NEW ORLEANS - ADVICE NEEDED

I'm currently planning a girls' weekend too (in August), and I think we'll go to SoBou for a drink at the least. It just opened, so none of us have been, but it looks really fun and not somewhere we'd necessarily go when we're there with our husbands.

Montore, do you have a suggestion of somewhere we should go?

Need Northshore Lunch recommendations for next Friday and Saturday

Ha! I went to the website and Guy Fieri's face could not be on there any more! Last time we were down (a year ago) we ate at Lola for lunch and it was really good, so we want to try it for dinner. We had dinner at Del Porto last time, and must have gone on an off night, because the service was awful and my husband's main course was too salty to eat. Our first courses were very good, though. I will look at your other suggestions, thanks!

Need Northshore Lunch recommendations for next Friday and Saturday

Hi there - I think the title is pretty self explanatory, but I need some lunch recommendations for the Covington/Mandeville/Abita area for next weekend. We are tentatively planning on Lola and Juniper for dinner, but need some guidance for lunch. Thanks!

Fort Morgan

My husband and I are taking our kids (3 and 4) to Fort Morgan for the weekend this weekend - any suggestions for a dinner and a breakfast/brunch? I'd prefer to stay in Ft. Morgan unless there's really nothing there....

Weekend in Covington

@Mrsfury - I didn't realize that Abita Brew Pub was not actually part of the brewery. My husband clarified, and that he had been there once, and wasn't blown away, so since there are lots of other options I think we'll try something else. @collardman - thanks! I was talking about Martin's Wine Cellar, and I am looking for wine that we can't get in MS, so we'll go by Acquistapace's.

Weekend in Covington

One more question - how big is the Martin's in Mandeville? As big as the one in Metarie?

Weekend in Covington

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I think we'll try to do brunch at La Provence, and maybe dinner at Juniper and Del Porto. I was thinking of biking to the Abita Brew Pub since our B&B has bikes available, but it will only be hotter then and we might die of heat stroke before we get there!

Weekend in Covington

I hope it's OK to post this here! My husband and I are spending a weekend in Covington at the end of the month and need some dining suggestions. We've never been but are trying something different than our usual weekend away in New Orleans. We'll have 2 dinners and 2 lunches - are staying at a B&B so will have breakfast covered.

Brunch this Sunday?

Hi all - I need a recommendation for brunch this Sunday. I was planning on going to EAT, but they are closed this week. Is there anywhere similar we could go? We are staying in the Marigny, but will have a car.
Thanks!

New Orleans Oyster Festival.................

We were in town for one night and almost skipped going on Sunday too due to the heat, but luckily there were some clouds and it rained on us a couple of times : ). Hope they raised a lot of money!

Underwhelmed

I'm not glad that you didn't have a perfect experience, but I'm glad we are not the only ones that this happened to - my husband and I were down after Christmas for a night and chose August for our one dinner. While the food was superb overall, our service was spotty as well, with the wine coming later and later as the night went on, and our final glass of wine did not appear until our dessert had completely melted. It really diminished our experience.

Help! First trip with the kids next weekend

Thanks so much for all the suggestions so far! I think we'll definitely be visiting the general store. Suzy, we will have a car, but will want something within walking distance on Saturday. Sunday for breakfast we can drive somewhere before the zoo since it doesn't open until 10 and the kids will be up between 5:30 and 6 . . .

Help! First trip with the kids next weekend

Hi - my husband and I are bringing our 2 children, ages 1 and 2, down to New Orleans next weekend to go to the zoo, aquarium, and children's museum and I need some suggestions on where to eat with them. We're staying at the Embassy Suites. Can anyone tell me a good spot for 1) one of us to go pick up dinner for the 2 of us to bring back to the hotel Friday night; 2) breakfast and lunch near the hotel on Saturday. We're planning on going to the children's museum in the morning and the aquarium after naptime; and 3) breakfast before the zoo on Sunday morning. Thanks! We're looking forward to it, but this will be a completely different trip to New Orleans than we are used to!

Bermuda in a week!

Happy to report that our anniversary dinner at The Point was perfect, and Tucker's Point itself was definitely one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. I'd love to go back there one day. We both had the set menu - H picked the beef tenderloin entree and I had the swordfish and scallops. Everything was delicious, especially the chocolate souffle for dessert. We ventured to Hamilton for most other meals, although we did go to the Swizzle Inn one night - it was Trivia night and a lot of fun. Thanks for the advice!

Bermuda in a week!

Thank you. One more question - any suggestions for afternoon tea?

Bermuda in a week!

well, that worked out perfectly then! I'll make a reservation next week. I have to confess when I saw the website I did wish we were staying there instead, it does look gorgeous. Maybe one day we can have a spa/golf day there.
I'm sure we'll end up at Swizzle Inn at some point since it's right there - what do you get when you're there (other than swizzles . . .)? And we will skip the dine around.

Bermuda in a week!

Hello all! We are leaving for Bermuda in about a week, and thanks to all the excellent threads I think I have some good ideas, but I have a couple of questions. First, I saw an ad for the Dine Around certificates online, which seemed like a good deal, and I was considering eating at Blu and Harbourfront anyway. But I would be unsure about the third meal, so it may not be worth it. Also, I haven't read anything about The Point restaurant on here, but it was suggested on a Bermuda travel board for anniversary dinner since we're staying at Grotto Bay. I think it's at Tucker's Point. Thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know how they make their berry tea?

Bermuda Eating Trip Recap - long

Thanks again to all, especially to Athena for selflessly volunteering herself for research : ) Shaebones, we'll definitely check out that website should we return, especially with the whole family. Although my husband is very excited at the prospect of a scooter, I believe I have managed to talk him out of it - the combination of fruity rum drinks and driving on the other side of the road just seems like a bad plan. We're from Mississippi, so I imagine the weather will be pretty consistent with what it is here, we'll see about swimming! Will check back in in a few weeks . . . Oh, the idea of Port O Call being a nice restaurant makes me laugh, whenever we have time we go to a restaurant in New Orleans called Port O Call, which is a hole in the wall hamburger place!

Bermuda Eating Trip Recap - long

Thanks to all 3 of you! I have been avidly reading the Bermuda threads and have a long list of suggestions. When it gets closer to our trip and I've narrowed it down I'll get some more input. I'll definitely need help for our one really nice romantic dinner. One thing I'm really looking forward to is the sunset from Blackbeard's Hideout - did that close? We actually already made reservations at Grotto Bay, I was a little hesitant due to spotty reviews, but the travel agent said she had just been there and enjoyed it, so hopefully it will be fine. I don't anticipate spending a lot of time in the hotel anyway. Phelana, I did look at the Reefs website, it looks beautiful but out of our budget currently! Maybe one day! Looking forward to investigating and planning, and thanks in advance for your help for our trip - we are really looking forward to it, it will be our first trip away from the little ones.

Bermuda Eating Trip Recap - long

PS - so I didn't book the package, and overnight the price doubled. Boo. Can we eat well near Grotto Bay?

Bermuda Eating Trip Recap - long

Thanks! We definitely want to explore and eat elsewhere. I'll have to re-look and see how much more the Hamilton is.

Bermuda Eating Trip Recap - long

Athena, we are making final plans this weekend, but I am leaning towards the Fairmont Southampton. We really don't know anything about Bermuda, will that be convenient to non-hotel restaurants? I've been reading some of your posts and am starting a list : ). We are definitely wanting some local seafood and one especially nice dinner for our anniversary. So excited to come to your beautiful island!
