Looking for decent Bakery (Bread)

My favorie for croissants (and pastries) is L'Atelier Monnier on US1 just souuth of N.Kendall Dr--terrific french bakery (the flakiest croissants I've ever had).
Joanna's Market on SW 67 Ave near US1 has a good selection of breads.

Best Whole Foods in Miami? Discount liquor store?

I second Total Wine. Huge selection and I found prices to be reasonable.

Need a pre - Miami Man triathlon restaurant near Dadeland Mall for Saturday night

Villagio at Dadeland has a diverse menu. Trattoria Luna has excellent italian food, just a few blocks away. Both are italian, but large selection at both; check out their websites.

You can't go wrong with either Joanna's or Roaster and Toasters.

I highly recommend Joanna's marketplace. They deliver and are in the Kendall area. Here's a link to their website. http://www.joannasmarketplace.com/

Tell Me Where To Eat

Upscale Burger in or near FQ

I apppreciate all of your responses. We ate at Luke one night for a fabulous meal and the bar at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse last night. Both had excellent burgers. BTW, loved the onion rings at Brennan's.

Upscale Burger in or near FQ

Thank for the replies. Looking forward to some good meals.

Upscale Burger in or near FQ

I'll be there this weekend and was wondering if there are any upscale (nice wine list, tablecloths, good service) though casual (if that's possible) restaurants in or near FQ you'd recommend. I'll be travelling with my niece who has an aversion to seafood. Any place where she can order a good hamburger yet I can order more traditional NOLA fare?

Whole Roasted Chicken for Take-Out

I've never been to La Granga though will check it out. Will also try Fresh Market.

Whole Roasted Chicken for Take-Out

Besides Publix, is there anyplace for tasty, crispy, fresh roasted chickens?

Whole Roasted Chicken for Take-Out

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations? I'm in the South Miami area. Thanks.

Route 9 (Coral Gables) - incredible food, relaxed atmosphere, and CHEAP

I ate at Route 9 earlier this week and found the service to be excellent with eager to please and knowledgable staff.
We shared the cheese board for a starter; I particularly liked the sauces that accompanied the plate--one was a local honey and the other a pepper chutney-like sauce. Came with some warm toasted bread.
Hamburger was perfect; served on a brioche type of bun with cheese (I opted out of the bacon). Burger was one of the best I've had here in Miami. French fries were just the way I like them-slightly browned and just a bit crispy.
My only complaint was having to use metered parking on Ponce. But when I realized I was short on quarters and asked the waiter for change of a dollar bill, he came out with a couple of dollars worth of quarters and refused to take my singles.
Overall great food and with such good service, they should do well...I certainly hope so.

Willams Sonoma Finishing Sauces

I was in WS yesterday and intrigued by the bottled Marsala and Truffle sauces. I was wondering if anyone has tried them? I've read favorable reviews on the WS website, but if there is anyone with first hand experience, I'd appreciate it. I would use for an easy sauce for sauteed chicken breast--maybe add some sauteed mushrooms and onions.

Dining in Buckhead

I'd like to get some advice on restaurants within a 10 to15 minute drive from the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead. There will be a 5 year old child traveling with us, so nothing too fancy. I had been to the Buckhead Diner many years ago and enjoyed it but am looking for other options. I enjoy Italian and Mexican if there are any in the area, but would also love Southern cuisine. Any where from $30 to $40 per person would be acceptable.

New in Coral Gables

Cabo Flats and CRAVE are opening soon at Village of Merrick Park, according to their website. Is anyone familiar with these restaurants? I love Mexican and hoping Cabo is better than the rest.

New or Coming to Miami / Dade - 2010 Edition

Village of Merrick Park website mentions soon to open Cabo Flats (mexican) and CRAVE. Has anyone had any culinary experience with these (Cabo is a chain). Also SAWA has already opened there (http://www.sawarestaurant.com/cocktail-lounge.html) but haven't tried it.

Les Halles in Coral Gables--Closed

I was so disappointed yesterday when I went to Les Halles (was in the mood for great french fries and onion soup) and saw the glass all boarded up with a sign on the door "Closed for Renovation". I was wondering if anyone had any info.

Baking Supplies near Coral Gables?

Williams Sonoma at Merrick Park.

Anything new or coming to Dade late '09?

Saw a sign go up in front of the old JJ's across from U of M on S. Dixie--called Smoke T. Appears to be Barbque style-though not sure. They have a website, but no details given.

Also Pizza Rustica is about to open on SW 57th Ave. and US1 in South MIami.

Where To Find Good Meatloaf In Miami

Has anyone had really good meatloaf in Miami, other than their own home cooked recipe?
Please, if you have, clue me in. Love meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but don't feel like cooking.

Restaurants that deliver in South Miami

I've been living inSouth Gables/South Miami for many years and the only places I'm aware of that deliver are The Big Cheese and the usual pizza places. Also I saw advertised Trattoria Sole/Pizzeria Blu is now delivering though I haven't tried yet. Anyone aware of any additional places? Thai or other Italian maybe?

Staying in Midtown

Will be visiting NYC, staying at the Palace (midtown) in a couple of weeks. Looking for some recommendations for closeby places for copious quantities of good food. Preferences are for ethnic; specifically Italian and Mexican, though I love a good hamburger too. Nothing too fancy though no dives either. Any closeby places for a good desseert (bakery) at the end of the day?

Jake's Coral Gables

I agree with lax. The old Jake's was better. I ordered one of the boards (not memorable-I don't recall the name) which had a couple of cheeses-nothing special. The hamburger was not bad, but no better than Friday's. They removed chicken sandwich from the menu. The decor was warmer prior to the renovation. I used to go to the old Jake's once a week; I don't think I'll return anytime soon. It's a shame since I live in the neighborhood.

Looking for good Indian Restaurants in South FL!

Wasn't impressed with Mint Leaf; I thought the food was mediocre and overpriced (often the case in Gables). Imlee in Pinecrest is my favorite in this area. Service can be a bit slow, but food is excellent with an extensive menu. Their breads are the best I've tasted; try the onion kulcha.

Any Recommendations on South Miami Restaurants?

I tried Jianella's tonight. Don't wast your time or money. Food was mediocre at best and overpriced; service was slightly worse. Would not even think of going back. What a shame since this is my neighborhood.

Any Recommendations on South Miami Restaurants?

Has anyone tried Jianella's Restaurant near Beverly Hills Cafe? Curious to try it though rarely see people dining there.

Any Recommendations on South Miami Restaurants?

Other places:
Jake's between Sunset and US1 on Red Road- a few notches up from Beverly Hills. For italian try Trattoria Luna about 3 miles south of Red and US1 for great italian food, outstanding service.
Khoury's is for great mediterranian food...best chicken kabobs I've ever had.

Anything newer or on the way to Dade?

I saw a sign on top of the restaurant where Botticelli Trattoria was (now closed) in South Miami behind Gardner's. The name is Osteria Amici. Anyone have any info?

Best Mexican Restaurant in Miami

Went to a place on Sunset and 100th Avenue in SW Miami called Mr. Burrito (or maybe El Burrito). Not much atmosphere but the food was great. Best chicken burrito with mole sauce I've ever had.
El Poblano is very good with nice decor and good service (and more expensive).
The best all around I've been to in South Florida is San Angel in Fort Lauderdale.
