Great braises for Shabbat - starting new thread with this recipe for Persian meatballs and Cherries in Tamarind sauce and Brown-braised Onions, because braises work so well for Friday evening

Plain tabouli= fine bulgur?

This sounds similar to the lamb meatballs I've made from Jerusalem

Breadberry

Yes. Smaller than pomegranate. Very similar layout, but slightly more cramped. Nothing that I haven't seen elsewhere

Oh and RE parking:
It's metered parking up and down 60th st. Along the side streets there's free parking. (Watch for alternate side)

I parked closer to the library, since that's where we were going.

Breadberry

Was also there within a week of opening. Nice selection of cheese, takeout food was beautifully displayed. Staff was friendly- brought my daughter a mini shopping cart and offered her a taste of chicken nuggets.

The "fancy" desserts seemed way overpriced. My husband said the cheese Danish was just ok, and the chocolate muffin was too dense.

Place was PACKED towards the back, near the sushi, fish counter, and hummus/dips. Better flow could have been figured out. Or maybe it was just very crowded.

Oh, and the spicy nuggets were delicious. (According to husband)

Other English muffin brands besides Thomas?

I find that the texture is different.
I prefer the Thomas or store brand (shoprite)

There's a vegan brand of "mayo"

http://followyourheart.com/products/o...

I haven't tasted it myself (knowingly) but a friend mentioned she used it for her child with egg allergies

Boro Park takeout

Happened to be in the neighborhood recently and went into breadberry. Really nicely displayed takeout selection, with lots of healthier looking options. Price point and items on display were similar to pomegranate

Hi, I just saw this.
I use the smitten kitchen recipe for artichoke stuffed shells. I can paraphrase it when later.

I'm planning on artichoke lasagna. It's easy and can be made in advance.

Large Jewish communities WITHOUT a kosher restaurant

That's definitely true. My husband likes to joke that whatever city we end up in, in whatever country, we can always count on a meal of kabobs and hummus

Finally made it to Citron and Rose:)

Mamas vegetarian (falafel) is really good.

We went to Philly overnight one spring and enjoyed it. Historical stuff. If you have kids the childrens museum is really cool

Anniversary dinner for no kosher fam

My husband takes clients quite often to le Marais for lunches. (Lately, he's been going to PG because of the larger menu. More accommodating to his clients).

But, it can get really loud on busy nights! Something to take into consideration. For 11 people, they will do a prix fix menu

(And fwiw I don't think it's excellent)

Best Pareve Birthday Cake (NY or NJ)

I like Kaff's bakery in Brooklyn. Their cakes that are on display are ok, but their special order cakes are excellent. They'll pretty much do any cake/filling/frosting combo. They made a beautiful Elmo cake for my daughter's birthday last year

Basil Pizzeria in Crown Heights - Review

That's pretty funny.

We were at Chagall Bistro recently and a table next to us kept taking (blinding) pictures. So irritating
