Costco cheesecake? Did I imagine it...?

It's all about h ow the rectangular containers fit perfectly on pallets. More milk can fit on pallets, more pallets can be stacked, less trucks needed to transport the pallets. There's actually a way to pour the milk so that it doesn't spill.

I believe Walmart started the rectangular milk containers. Not all Costco locations have the rectangular containers.

Costco cheesecake? Did I imagine it...?

Recently was in Costco and they had all 3. The kosher house made cheesecakes were near the refrigerAted birthday cakes. Reps from Davids Cookies were handing out samples of their cheesecakes and choc chip cookie cake. The juniors cheesecakes were not with the bakery items- they were in the fridge section near the hummus and (non kosher) dips and pesto.

Things you want to bake

Savory crackers. Never tried it, seems like a healthy, tasty snack.

are great Oven Baked Fries a possibility?

Sheet pan, lined with foil, then covered in parchment paper. I leave the skins on, cut into "steak fries" and soak in a bowl of cold water.

Blintzes, cheesecake question

The cheesecake will stay, but just make sure to wrap it very well so that it doesn't take on any off flavors. I usually leave it in the springform and wrap it in plastic and foil, in a ziplock.

Tehina--Other uses besides making Hummus?

Mix with lime juice, soy sauce and a splash of wAter. Good on salad or steamed broccoli.

Cooking for my diabetic Nana - 2,000 cal, low carb, low sodium, low fat, diet, diabetes friendly meals.

Stick to what she likes and go from there.
Try whole wheat pasta mixed with meat sauce, use ground turkey or chicken.
Baked tilapia or cod with peppers nd onions

Two ideas for lettuce
Lettuce wraps, filled with taco filing, tofu scramble, grilled vegetables
Lightly grilled romaine. Dress with something simple, like lemon, or creamy, like tahini.

Trader joes sells low carb tortillas. Those might appeal to her. They can also be cut up and baked like chips.

Try different lettuces. Butter lettuce, arugula, mâché, broccoli slaw. So many different choices.

To get her interested in chicken, try preparing a great roasted chicken. Leftovers can be made into chicken pot pie with phyllo, chicken salad, chicken soup...

Zucchini and eggplant nd poblano peppers are delicious dipped in egg whites, lightly beaded in cornflake crumbs and baked. This works for proteins too- tofu, fish, chicken, turkey cutlets..,

Hope ths helps

leftover wonton skins

Wonton chips. Cut into triangles, spray with Pam. Can be made sweet with cinnamon and sugar or savory with salt and pepper. Bake until crispy.

Wonton cups. Press into mini muffin cups. Spray with pam. Bake until crisp. Fill or use to scoop up salsa.

A main course using fresh dill--other than salmon.

Add lots of chopped dill to chopped peppers, cucumbers, tomato, radish. Top with cubes of feta. Geese and lemon dressing. Good with pita chips.

Vodka Sauce

Toss with cooked ravioli and fresh basil, top with cheese and bake.

A quick, indulgent meal.

Carmelized onions on the grill

I use several smaller pans of onions. I add a splash of olive oil and start on the grill then move to the top rack.

Low-fat, low-calories vegetarian snacks

Kale chips

Raw kale salad

Looking for a recipe for raw kale without cheese or fruit.

I remember having a salad with garlic and mustard that was kind of spicy. Normally, I would try and figure it out, but the kale was expensive and I don't want to mess it up.

Freezable Casseroles/meals for new mom

Lots of wonderful ideas.
Baked ziti freezes well.
Stuffed shells.
Cooked rice, beans, grains. Freeze in small portions.

I call it a graduation garden party, kids call it a kegger...

Make the burgers smaller. You have a lot of food, and guests can always pick up a second burger. I'd hate to see half eaten burgers get tossed.

Tofu for a cookout??

I like to marinate tofu in lemon juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, lots of fresh herbs, salt, pepper.

I've also used an Asian inspired marinade similar yours, but I bake the tofu rather than grill.

Spraying the tofu on both sides with Pam prevents sticking.

Watermelon on the rind
Fruit kabobs. Easy to eat, no plate or utensils. Pineapple kabobs are great on the grill.

Pasta salad or orzo salad.
Serve in small plastic cups with a fork in each. A good side dish and when it's already portioned out, no tipsy people attempting to serve themselves.

Would you eat baconaise? (It is OU certified)

I use thyme in split pea soup. Threw some in one day by accident and we really liked the flavor. It kinda does have a mild smoky flavor.

Imam bayildi - perfect summer Summer Shabbat food

:)

Imam bayildi - perfect summer Summer Shabbat food

I used Indian eggplants. Maybe they were 3".

Filling
Onions
Garlic
Red pepper
Tomato
lemon juice
Parsley
Mint

Slice the stem off the eggplants and slice in half lengthwise.
Scoop out the eggplant flesh and chop, set aside.
Finely chop onion, garlic, tomato, red peppers
Sauté onion until transparent, add more olive oil and add in garlic, tomato, red peppers, eggplant flesh.
Transfer the vegetables to a bowl. Add salt, pepper, pinch of red pepper flakes, squeeze of lemon. Stir in parsley and mint.
In the meantime, brush eggplant flesh with oil and bake until starting to collapse. The eggplants should come out of the oven around the time the vegetables are cooked.

Fill eggplant halves with vegetable mixture. Arrange in a Pyrex with a bit of water on the bottom.
Bake until eggplants are warmed through.

It prob won't take as long as your recipe bc I used tiny eggplants.

Baked chicken in BBQ sauce

If you have cooling racks, use them to lift the chicken off the flat pans. All the grease ends up on the pan.

Baked chicken in BBQ sauce

When you bake the chicken the first time, make sure the pans aren't too crowded.

Also my oven takes longer to bake anything in a foil pan... So keep an eye on the chicken

Exhausted mom needs cook ahead meals for family or quick suppers for grab and go sports crazy kidss

It's something different than a burrito but just as easy. I used to prepare it for my husband on nights when I had school.

Also... Homemade tortilla chips. Might be messy for the car but soooo good.

Imam bayildi - perfect summer Summer Shabbat food

I arranged it on a really large platter and it looked very elegant. Also I didn't use much oil, and I added water if the vegetables were starting to stick.

I had an eggplant in the fridge and was going to possibly make this for Shabbat, but the eggplant was kinda old. I peeled it and broiled the slices. Popped it in the freezer and I'll figure out something on Friday.

I googled some recipes, and I've actually made something pretty similar. Indian eggplants stuffed with a filling of eggplant, onion, garlic, tomato, red peppers, parsley. Good warm or cold.

cooking for toddler / fussy one year old - cookbook recommendations?

Exactly. Peaches and mangos are not commonly found in NYC in the winter, and if they are avail, they are not usually sweet. The organic jars were available and sweet.

For grab and go meals for he kids, layer taco fixings in individual containers. Tape a fork to the top and good to go. Beans, shredded chicken, ground beef, cheese, lettuce, whatever they like..

I make calzones with store Bought pizza dough. They can be heated up by husband for dinner. Serve with salad and vegetables, or include veg in the calzone. Also good for kids on the go.

Sautéed chicken. Brown thin chicken cutlets. Add vegetables, simple sauce. Can be stored in a Pyrex in the fridge. I can give you more specifics if it seems like something your family would enjoy,

root veggie pot pie?

Enjoy your spring greens! Forgot where, but I saw a recipe for a pot pie like dish made with greens and topped with polenta.

There's nothing wrong when the "mush" is butternut squash or green beans. I personally never bought the jars that had other ingredients or that we're mixtures.

Certain foods just didn't make sense to prepare myself, like mango or peaches, but I wanted my daughter to taste them.

I did taste most of the jars, and they were pretty good tasting. My husband would walk in from work and polish off the pears or peaches.

Not saying jars are the only way to feed a kid, but they worked for me. At 13 months my daughter will eat pretty much whatever is offered to her.

Those puffs aren't "awful." I varied puffs with Cheerios and my daughter figured out how to pick them up and put them in her mouth.

Baby food from a jar is convenient. I left a few jars in relatives houses so that there would always be something available for her to eat. When we were home, i usuall prepared my own food.
