MSP - Rehearsal dinner, DT Mpls, 80+ people
I'm looking for a location for a rehearsal dinner in downtown Minneapolis, in December, for 80-90 people. Preferably close to the Hennepin & 7th area, or at least a short drive. Any suggestions? Thanks very much!
Thai in MSP?
My boss is looking for a good Thai restaurant to take his wife to tonight for their anniversary and I know nothing of the Thai places in the area. He specifically asked about a place south of the river, but frankly, I'm not sure he'll find much there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Restraunt for food and party of 20 in Quad Cities / Moline
My mom's family is from the area, but I haven't been there in 15 years. My grandparents were members of Short Hills Country Club and that was where we always held our special events. But it doesn't sound like that is going to fit your needs.
I would recommend checking with the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. They'll probably be able to send you in the right direction.
Also, make sure you have some Harris Pizza when you're in town. And potato salad from Tanks was always one of my favorites too. Goes well with a Maid Rite with some Whitey's for dessert.
Good luck!
MSP - Small Meeting/Banquet Restaurant
Hello Hello. I'm planning a meeting/banquet for about 30 people or so and am looking for a great restaurant to hold it at. The only one I've come up with so far is Jax Cafe. Minneapolis or St. Paul would be perfect. And we would like to keep our costs reasonable. Anyone have any thoughts?
Fort Myers - thoughts/recs on any of these places?
Hi! I'm starting to plan the annual anniversary vacation my husband and I take to Fort Myers and I'm hoping to get some feedback on some of the restaurants I've heard so much about from our various trips down.
Any thoughts on these places (or any others) for these food categories?
Steak - Matanzas, Veranda, Charley’s Boathouse, Chloe’s, Lighthouse, South Beach Grille
Italian – Nino’s, Sasse’s (we've tried Pastabilities & Mama Pasta and weren't impressed)
Pizza - Orpheus Cafe (we also loved Downtown House of Pizza)
Breakfast – Reese’s, Heavenly Biscuit, Mimi’s Café, Oasis
Misc - Francesco’s Italian Deli & Pizzeria, Munch Box, Yucatan Beach Stand, The Cottage/Gulfshore Grill (do they share the same menu)
We're also looking for a place to get some great deli-type sandwiches.
Any thoughts or recommendations on any of these places or any others would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
MSP - Ichibans
Sorry if this is not totally relevant, but does anyone know where the best place to park is if we're going to Ichibans? Thanks for the help!
Bakery near Mag Mile/Mich Ave?
Any recommendations on great bakeries in the Mag Mile/Mich Ave area? I'm looking for a place where we can find a great slice of cake, pie, cupcakes, something like that. Thanks!
Old Fart from NE needs hip recs in Minneapolis for wedding gift
I whole-heartedly agree on the 'hipness' of Murray's. However, I will spend my evening with those potentially stuffy traditionalist and the 'early bird special-ers' (even though they don't have an early bird special...) for that slab of beef any day! But, I suppose for the purpose of being hip, something like 112 Eatery and the like are a great bet.
Quad Cities - Harris Pizza
I haven't been back to the Quad Cities in 14 years, but will finally be back in the coming months. When I was little visiting my grandparents, we would always get pizza from Harris, but I never went with to pick it up, so I don't know the answer to this. Do any of the locations have sit-down dining or is it all carry-out/delivery?
Old Fart from NE needs hip recs in Minneapolis for wedding gift
I wouldn't call it hip, it's definitely more traditional, but my absolute favorite special occasion restaurant is Murray's. The Silver Butterknife is the most delicious piece of meat a carnivore has ever eaten. Of course, this would be assuming that they are meat eaters...
"American-style" vietnamese? (if that even exists...)
Oops, I totally did not try to make this a sticky. Can a mod move this before I tick everyone off?
"American-style" vietnamese? (if that even exists...)
My husband and I will be visiting from Minneapolis in the coming months and staying near the Magnificent Mile. I've done some searching on the boards but I'm having a really hard time differentiating my options for Vietnamese. We prefer a bit more of an "American-style" Vietnamese (I know, it's heresy). I'm not even sure I know how to describe what I mean by that. (If any of you have been to St. Paul and have had the chance to eat at Mai Village, that is our absolute favorite). We're not extremely adventurous when it comes to flavors, we like chicken/beef/etc with typical sauces or spices. We love egg rolls too and fried rice too. I don't know if any of this information is helpful or not, but I'm hoping someone can suggest a few places.
