Home made seltzer/ soda water
I am hoping to make fizzy water at home - but I am not sure which soda maker to buy. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Thanks
reputable knife-sharpening service ??
A few years ago I took a very badly damaged knife (poor knife choice to tackle a lobster!) to a knife shop in Quincy Market - I forget what it's called, but it's below ground. They did a great job, and made my knife as good as new.
High-end Kosher or vegetarian restaurant
I called the 4 seasons. They do indeed have a Kosher kitchen, but it is only open for banquets, weddings and other large functions. However, they do have a service (as Kbee mentioned) where a kosher meal can be pre-ordered and served in the restaurant. Thanks for these excellent sugestions - they have made my task seem possible :-)
High-end Kosher or vegetarian restaurant
This is a great suggestion - I will call now and ask. I will let you know what happens.
High-end Kosher or vegetarian restaurant
This is a good question. I believe that they are strictly Kosher (they are travelling from Israel, and observe the Friday holy day). They said they usually eat at Rubins, but I don't think that we can make it there before they close.
High-end Kosher or vegetarian restaurant
Thanks for this recommendation. I will certainly go and check it out.
High-end Kosher or vegetarian restaurant
I have been assigned the task of finding a kosher (or strictly vegetarian) restuarant in the Boston area. I will be taking a small group (8) of colleagues, three of which require a kosher meal. Unfortunately I have very little experience of kosher/ vegetarian restaurants in the Boston area. I browsed previous posts on "kosher", but did not find anything that seemed suitable - a) they seem to close early (Rubins shuts at 8:30pm, cafe Eilat at 9pm), and b) the websites suggest that they are casual eateries. I verified that vegetarian would be a suitable alternative for my guests, but again was unable to find a strictly vegetarian restaurant that would be suitable to take business colleagues to.
I would be grateful for suggestions of a place that I could reserve a table, would fulfill the Kosher requirement, and would be up-scale enough to take business colleagues.
Thanks
Brunch 'n' Laundry: Sugestions for a killer combo?
You could try brunch at Doyles on Washington Street in JP - there is a laundromat one block over next to the car wash.
weisbaden
I recently returned from Wiesbaden. While there I was taken to "Weinhaus Kogler" for authentic local food. The restaurant is located on Grabenstrasse 18. I wanted to try the local specialities, so I started my meal with "Handkase mit musik". This is a cheese dish in vinegar with raw onions and cumin seeds. The first taste was shocking - it was totally unlike anything that I had tasted before. After about 3 tastes I got used to its unusual flavor, but can't say that I started to like it. The other starter I tried was a cream cheese dish with paprika - this is usually eaten as a snack with wine. After that I had a blood sausage that was very good. The Reisling was excellent. I would recommend this place if you want to try local specialities.
Essential Cape Cod Road Food?
I can't pass Bob's sub and cone without popping in for a steak bomb. However, sometimes its better than others. You can access it off the rail trail (if you are working up an apetite on your bicycle), or from the 6.
Wood's Hole takeout
I second Adobokid's recommendations (especially the bread pudding). In addition there's coffee obsession which has snacks and drinks. If Jimmy's is closed (they are seasonal) you can also get pizza to go from the Captain Kid - but be prepared for a long wait and a soggy crust!
Boston Pizza?
I second Cafe Rossini - delicious! Another favorite of mine was Pizz Oggi, but I haven't been there since they moved from JP to down town. Finally I would add Bella Luna which has interesting pizza toppings, and a fun atmosphere.
Peach Farm, Help me out
I really enjoyed the clams in black bean sauce - probably my favorite item on the menu.
Ice Cream!
I am quite partial to JP Licks in JP. Partly because I can walk there thus walking up an appetite, but also becuase I like their cucumber icecream. Their strawberry icecream with hot fudge is yummy.
Also a fan of Toscanini's - but not the one in harvard square as it tends to be kind of grubby. Favorite flavour is earl grey.
Emack and Bolio's is ok - only go there if I have my lap top and want to use the web.
Still looking for a really good chocolate ice cream.
Happy snacking!
