Good Prepared Food Place in Toronto West End Anyone know of a good source for take-out prepared food in Toronto's West End: between Lansdown & Jane and from Queen St to St. Clair? |

Mabel's Bakery--triple chocolate brownies--anyone tried these? I like them but sometimes the 3rd chocholate: the chocolate chips, remain too hard and are like a rock: just too hard to chew. I find that the Brownies at Mabel's are not consistent. |

Hidden away, independent cafes, worth making a special trip to visit. Just went to "The Beet" in the junction, on Dundas St. West, east of Pacific Avenue on a really cold day and had their wonderful soup. Huge bowls for $7.00. Also had the Bison Burger & Sweet Potatoes. My husband had the lamb burger. |

KitchenAid MIxer - Do I really need one? Thanks so much. I was afraid it was a problem with the OKC itself. That it was not a good product. I have the room, so I will take it and try it myself. |

Just wondering: how long after the expiration date is it still safe to use a dry cake mix? |

kitchenaid artisan stand mixer: will it help me bake!!?? You need to check a map as well as a dictionary. Taganrog is in Russia not Ukraine. Kulich is a Russia word for a bread. Paskha is a Russia word for a cheese dish served at Easter. Kolach is a Ukrainian word for a braided round bread. Paska (please notice the spelling) is a Ukrianian word for Ukrainian Easter bread. Please check any Ukrainian dictionary or cookbook for verification. |

What a bargain. Go for it. What colour do you like? |

Since you don't put the lid on for baking bread I do not see any disadvantages. I bought a small (2 quart) Staub because it was on sale. IT is too small for most things I make but I find it useful for doing onions. I wouldn't buy the mini cocette: just too small for me to pay so much money. |

Your favorite Le Creuset color I really do not like the new WS "Ocean Colour." I just can't picture food in it on the stove. Mine are red. I used to like the old Wlliam Sonoma dark green. |

Thanks for the wonderful link to You Tube.. I will be watching some of the other videos on the side there too. |

Why do people use Le Creuset? (split from Ontario board) This thread was split from the Ontario Board when I asked a question about Le Creuset cermic dishes (not the cast iron cookware ). Is there any difference between the Le Creuset ceramic dishes and the cheaper baking dishes made by Corning Ware & Pyrex? Is there is, please give examples of baked dishes that come out better in Le Creuset ceramic dishes please. |

Why do people use Le Creuset? (split from Ontario board) Thanks. I am a novice. Can you please give me an example of food you have baked in Le Creuset ceramic dishes that have turned out better than in Corning Ware or Pyrex dishes please. |

William Ashley Warehouse Sale 2010 I went to the William Ashley Warehouse Sale for the Amex Preview and it was slim pickings. I think I had a 5 minute wait to get in. The shelves were not bulging with merchandise as in the past. Also, too much cheap stuff that not from "William Ashley" sources. Are great prices & quality items from this sale a thing of the past? Has anyone else been there this year? I am wondering if it is worth another trip out there or not. |

Le Creuset at Home Sense & Winners I was at the Yonge Street/ Queen store last night & no pots in sight. I think the pots are gone until after Christmas. They did habve a few of the ceramic dishes in red and blue. I am not sure if those are worth buying or not. The small oval 1 litre dish was $19.99 and is $45 at Williams Sonoma. The small square dish $24.99. |

Oh no that is so far away. Why did they close? |

Toronto: Best chrusciki (angel wings) for the holidays? For Ukrainian Khrustyky, try any of the Ukrainian Church bazaars which should be starting soon. |

Wildly Delicious Warehouse Sale I went to the 2010 sale last Friday. No great bargains yet. I only bought their Smokey Applewood BarBQue sauce on sale for $5.00. I also pritned out their ad for a free gift of a box of |

Le Creuset at Home Sense & Winners This week I have seen pieces of le Creuset on sale at Winners at College Park and at Home Sense. |

What do you have started for the 2010 garden? I live in Toronto, Ontario. Too much snow & too cold. Too early to start seeds inside. |

At last. Thanks for letting us know. I have been to the Longo's near the Art Gallery & it is suberb - but way too small. |

new bakeware ... not non-stick? When I got married in 1986 I got Royal Worcester Evesham Gold baking dishes as wedding presents. I have added onto the set over the years. They are very sturdy and made in England. The dishes can be used in the oven and can be placed in the freezer. |

???? re Nordic Ware "fancy" cake molds--have you used them? The Cathedral Bundt pan is another one to avoid. See the reviews here: I would like to buy the Heritage Bundt pan but after my bad experiences with the Cathedral I am hesitant. |

What kind of loaf pans to buy? I recently used a Corning Ware "French White" loaf pan to bake bread and the sides of the bread did not brown. |

What kind of loaf pans to buy? I like the smaller size for 1 pound loaves. I have just been given 3 enamel loaf pans that aro about 40 years old in this size. The dark blue with the white flecks same material as the roasting pans. |

Sorry, I detest the Harbord Bakery Egg Bread. Seems to be lacking something. |

Wildly Delicious Warehouse Sale I have been twice to this sale on Railside Road, directly opposite the William Ashley Warehouse sale in the Don Vallet/ Lawrence East area. Wildly Delicious is a Canadian company of gourmet condiments and other food products. I was there on Friday and bought an 11 oz. can of their "Spicy Chocolate Cinnamon Cocoa" for only $3 a can. It is comparable to Williams Sonoma Hot Chocolate. I also bought an 8 oz. jar of "Mediterranean Chickpea Tapenade with Sundried Tomatoes" for $3 and an 8 oz jar of "South American Bruschetta with Tomatillos & Jalapenos" for $3.00. The Maple Camelized Onions are $7 a jar or 3 for $18. I bought 3. If you print out the ad from their web ste at: They have tons of samples available. I tasted everything. I see that "Summer Kitchen Fine Foods" is also having their Annual Christmas Sale. Haven't tried their products yet. |
