Medium priced Japanese restaurant
I'm look for a good Japanese restaurant for out of town guests who lived in Japan for a while. Not one of the "Japanese business types" of establishments with a three digit check, but one with a very nice, quiet atmosphere with checks in the vicinity of $50 to $75. I need a restaurant with a general Japanese menu--not an exclusively sushi place,

Good question--difficult to answer. It's like the old remark that "I can't define pornography, but I know it when I see it." "Unusual" means preparations with ingredients not found in the typical tourist oriented Chinatown restaurants and prepared in large quantities ahead of time. An abalone dish or shark's fin dish would be an example. Again, I woud know it if I saw (or tasted) it.
