Please try the El Farolito on 24th Street near Hampshire (towards Potrero from Mission). They have the same food as the one on Mission and it is a lot cleaner (in every way)! Don't forget to order cebollitas (grilled green onions), and remember not to get too much stuff in your burrito. Carne Asada with black beans, rice, and salsa is fantastic.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Ended up eating dinner at tonique. Although some dishes were excellent it was pretty uneven. Seemed to be trying too hard and really missed on a couple items. For example, one of my dishes was a spinach tagliatelle with a mushroomy sauce and seafood. The sauce was almost identical to the sauce on one of our apps (where it was put to better use) and the mussels were overcooked. Mentioned the overcooked mussels to the server but got no response (she said she'd tell the chef). On the other hand, thought the meat, chicken and lamb were outstanding in quality and texture. If I went back I'd stick to the simpler items. Ended up making picnic lunches with some help from the farmers markets. Regretably did not note the name but had a FANTASTIC aged local cheese from the stand at the Cold Spring market on Saturday.

Any ideas of good local restaurants to check out on a weekend trip to Storm King and Dia Beacon? Had wanted to check out the CIA but they are on summer vacation. Thought to try Blue Hill on the way back to the city, but didn't think of it far enough in advance (they suggested 10PM!). Would love to try a low-key small local restaurant. Welcome any suggestions...thanks.
