I was also there and I have to agree with you on the having to share the sides. For a $65.00 price on a Turkey dinner which is CRAZY, at least offer sides per person.
Come on now Harold.. are you going to spoil this great place by doing foolish things such as this !!!!!

Try Coastal Grill, Nick D'Angelo's, Matteos, but don't eat at the Hotel, I haven't heard anything good about it at all.
Monterey, Long Beach, NY
Monterey is a welcome dining resource in the Long Beach community. The dining room is beautiful, if a little loud. The food and service do not stand up to the investment that was made in updating the dining room and bar. Our server was pleasant but did not accurately describe specials. The staff wandered around seemingly without purpose, while the manager charged around the room. But the low point was clearly the food and the reality show "celebrity" chef that has taken charge of the kitchen has not impressed with this meal. Poorly seasoned, poorly cooked and poorly conceived dishes made me wonder if anyone was tasting the food before it left the kitchen. To add insult to injury, our meals arrived 90 minutes after we were seated.
Great looking restaurant. Not worth the money though. Very expensive for Long Beach. Not going to be returning. Certainly NOT the Californian type restaurant that they lead you to believe it is.
Bottom line: The restaurant visually is very beautiful and inviting. The food was nothing exceptional.
Good Japanese, Manhattan
Not necessarily sushi.. Want to keep it under $50.00 per person.
Must have nice atmosphere.

They won't take ANY credit cards and they ONLY serve 2-3 wine choices one of which is their own home made wine that tastes like mouth wash.
But there are some good dishes to pick from.. You just have to know the right ones.

Yes, it is over rated and same old, same old. There are so many better choices to pick from.

I just called up for a reservation and I was so put off by their manner of talking to you that I told them to forget it.
I'll just have to live without them.

How is the service here? I've been to Scarpetta's many times and I love it there. I 've always wanted to try Convivio but I read some bad reviews about the service there...Any comments?

No it was not deceiving...It WAS small, VERY Small. I was very good, but for $27.00 pasta it should have been much larger. The same holds true for the short ribs.
I loved everything else about this place except for the size of the 2 above portions..
