Help -- moved to Scarsdale
I agree, service can be a bit spotty at times at Watermoon.. The food, however, is awesome and worth waiting for.
Asiana and Penang, in Greenwich CT are the same ownership as Watermoon, BTW. (Alan Lee). Lots of the same dishes. My favorite is Penang, a dressed down version of Asiana with lower prices and, it's BYOB, which is great.
Pastrami, Corned Beef, + a Square Rye Rockland/Bergen Co?
Kosher Nosh in Glen Rock.
Petak's in Fair Lawn.
Foster Village Deli, Bergenfield.
Rye Bread, Butterflake in Teaneck.
IMO, packaged pastrami is AWFUL.
Help -- moved to Scarsdale
Watermoon bears ZERO resemblance to PF Chang's. In every way.
Help -- moved to Scarsdale
Well, I like Watermoon. The only real issue there is noise, although some here like a noisy environment. The place is physically beautiful. The ingredients are super fresh; the Hot & Sour soup is among the best I've had; Duck Fajitas are wonderful and novel, as is Salmon Skin salad and the Pan Roasted Seabass. I enjoy Watermoon, it's miles above any Chinese resto in the County, IMO!
Lunch in or Near Suffern
Now you've got me curious. Can you provide a list of good restaurants in and around downtown Suffern? Thanks.
Lunch in or Near Suffern
It's not only the plethora of restaurants, (Even though there are upwards of 20 restaurants) but it's the village downtown feel that is attractive about Nyack. You can walk around and browse the crafts and antique shoppes. Other interesting boutique-y stores. It's an interesting place. Unique to Rockland County in that way. A real town with real people (Unlike neighboring Piermont). Worth the 10 minute drive from the Suffern area.
Lunch in or Near Suffern
Not a lot of decent dining options near Suffern. I would suggest skewing your meeting about 10 miles east to Nyack. Google maps says 70 miles from Clinton and 58 miles from Shelton. But Nyack is a very cool town, lots of shoppes to window shop around if the weather is good, with loads of excellent choices for lunch.
Lanterna
Art Cafe
Old Village Inn
Bourbon Street
Lefteris
Didier Dumas
Alain's Bistro
La Fontana
Consider Nyack!!
Changes at Tic Toc Diner
I didn't miss the point. My post clearly states the time that I would seek out an Irish Pub.
The egg place is the Egg Platter, on Crooks Ave in Clifton/Paterson. (2 blocks from Corrado's) Eggs and 20 kinds of omelettes. Skip anything else there. Retro. Weird hours, it's closed from 3PM and reopens at 10PM. Great home fries, too.
December 18 - 1 night in Paris .. near Place Des Vosges
Robert & Louise didn't make the list?
Help -- moved to Scarsdale
No, there's much better food in Westchester than was mentioned on that post. The guy did say it was "subjective". I probably would not go to any of the many places mentioned there. But here's a couple of places I like
Fig & Olive, Scarsdale
Jardin du Roi, Chappaqua
Iron Horse, Pleasantville
Several excellent Latin restos in Port Chester
Lexington Square, Mt Kisco
Sweetgrass Grill. Tarrytown
Watermoon, Rye
A couple of GREAT Portuguese places in Ossining, including Churrasquiera Ribatejo
Don't be that depressed, ronhall!
open on christmas day
Rye is in the Northeast corner of the County, just off I 95. Between Port Chester and Mamaroneck.
(You can do a google maps)
Changes at Tic Toc Diner
It's just tiresome. Let me clarify that there is no reason " for me" to ever go to a diner. Enjoy.
The "dump" egg place is actually immaculately clean and retro-feel. And they have the best eggs & omelettes in the State.
But, there's always Dinallos!
Great chocolates in Teaneck / north NJ area?
Nice article in today's NY Times Travel section extolling the virtues of Neuhaus chocolates...
decent bagels in lower hudson valley?
Kossar's buys their bagels from an outside supplier-- but of course, they make their BIALYS.
Changes at Tic Toc Diner
No club sandwich anymore, the turkey is usually highly processed and inedible now. Maybe a plain BLT...
Breakfast at any hour? Give me the venerable Egg Platter in Clifton/Paterson, virtually unchanged in years, even the prices have hardly gone up. 2 eggs with great home fries, $1.98.
Burgers before 11PM? Bucu, of course. After 11? There's usually an Irish Pub serving them until 1 or 2.
decent bagels in lower hudson valley?
BTW, Kossar's on the LES is famous for BIALYS, not bagels. Totally different animal.
Help -- moved to Scarsdale
Fig and Olive, in the Lord & Taylor shopping center Scarsdale. Excellent.
1930's kitchen in Englewood- any REAL reviews out there?
Passed by the place yesterday, buttoned up with a "For Rent" sign in the window...
White tablecloth Chinese restaurant in Hudson County?
China Star or Silver Pond in Fort Lee. White tablecloth, old style Americanized Chinese places. Big pots of tea and bowls of fried noodles.
Looking for a place for lunch in Fort Lee
Slim pickings in Fort Lee-- Big Red Tomato is in dire need of a makeover, and the other place you mentioned is a Pizza parlor with tables. There's also It's Greek to Me, but that's mediocre at best. Their new digs are attractive, though.
You could try moving over to Tenafly and Axia, its only about a 7 minute ride...
December 18 - 1 night in Paris .. near Place Des Vosges
I've had the same experience, but the smell came from a human.
December 18 - 1 night in Paris .. near Place Des Vosges
Where did you wind up at. Condor?
Nisi Greek Restaurant Closing
This was in the Record 10 days ago. But we still have Axia, which I always liked better, anyway.
December 18 - 1 night in Paris .. near Place Des Vosges
Robert et Louise, little comfortable, rustic spot on Rue Vielle du Temple-- medium sized so your dog will be welcome, and some of the best Cote de Boeuf in Paris. Warm and amiable staff too.
NYE recommendations in New Jersey
Midnight Ramble, with Levon Helm, if you can get tix.
Great chocolates in Teaneck / north NJ area?
Wine Ventures in Tenafly has a good selection of Neuhaus Chocolates from Belgium. They are a fantastic chocolate!
