Ontario airport area
What kind of food are you looking for? I know of a new Cuban place off of Archibald/8th that is doing alot of advertising, but I haven't personally been there. It's called Flamingo Palms. Taxi-able to get there from Ontario Airport...
You can probably shuttle to Ontario Mills, there are the run of the mill chain restaurants there. Victorial Gardens has a Cheesecake Factory, Fleming's, Corner Bakery- and a great crepe place.
Help near Covina
Din Tai Fung, only a "few" minutes from Covina- sort of, off the 10 and up Baldwin- but sooo worth the drive, and no, you can't get that in Colorado! The best dumplings around along w/ ovalettes.
Planning LA/OC long weekend trip from DC... advice please!
They always have celeb sightings at the Whole Foods market out that way too.. isn't there one in Brentwood?
Best croissant in LA?
My friend told me that those at TJ's are actually pretty decent- and you don't have to pay the price of Williams-Sonoma delivery to get that!
On the croissant joint-note... anyone like JJ's Bakery in Arcadia and Monterey Park? I saw their croissants the other day and they look to die for...
pasadena recs, please?
If you guys are driving, you might want to go a bit north to Montrose, a little community north of Glendale, about 10 mins. from Pasadena- I would highly recommend the Black Cow Cafe for breakfast or lunch. They make the BEST bean soup- Rockerfeller Bean Soup they call it- on Saturdays. They have a coffee bar attached to it and they can make green tea ice cream shakes as well for dessert!
which stores besides whole foods carry brougiere's??
I see Brougiere's at Henry's Farmer's Market (it's a chain) we have one out in Rancho Cucamonga, and there is one in Chino Hills, i'm sure there are a few on the westside as well, just Google Henry's Market.
Best Kept Secrets in the I.E. !!
Handel's is AWESOME! They have a delicious lime sherbet, sort of a bright green color, but not too tart and deliciously sweet and refreshing. If you are there, also try their 4 scoop special for $5.00. 4 HUGE scoops in one big bowl.
Best Kept Secrets in the I.E. !!
Hi! New to the boards, but thought if anyone is out in the Corona area, and craving a really good burger... THE COUNTER opened up a spot at the Dos Lagos Mall- off of the 15 freeway. I know there's a couple in the valley and westside, but finally, a great burger eaterie out in the IE!
City Mouse (Dots Cupcakes) vs. Country Mouse (Violet's Cakes)
I had gone to Dots a while ago, when they were on Arroyo Parkway next to Chandra. (I'm not sure if they are still there, but I know they are in Old Town now). The first time I went there, I thought the store was so cute! I had considered opening a cupcake place and wanted to try different cupcakes and talk to different store owners. I think that the gal that Susieyan was talking about was there, she might have been the owner's daughter? Anyways- not very friendly at all when I asked if biz was good and if they found owning a shop fun, etc., etc... So I didn't ask any other questions.
As far as the cupcakes went, I've gone there about 3 times just to see if they picked up their act- but each time, they were dry. The first time though, the chocolate/chocolate was pretty good- that is why i went back the 2nd and 3rd times. They were just dry and pretty blah. I had found Violet's in the meantime and LOVE Violet's! Never been unhappy with the flavor or moistness of their cakes, they will frost them there too if they have them straight out of the oven. Yes, the only problem lately with Violet's is that they are never open when I'm there, or when my husband is nearby to make a stop. He's gone by 2 times and each time, they are closed, it was 4:45 once and 4:30 another time.
