really good seafood and/or greek reataurant in Park Slope

Brooklyn Fish Camp is probably your best bet for seafood, or maybe Littleneck nearby in Gowanus. I'd be happier at Red Hook Lobster Pound though, but forget about reservations there, not sure about reservations at the other two either come to think of it.

Don't think we have any particularly good greek in the neighborhood.

Googa Mooga Food Festival in Prospect Park

I tried to get tickets yesterday when they were supposed to be available at noon. I checked right at 12:00 and they weren't available yet, but then a minute or two later the site said they were, but by the time I clicked through all tickets were gone. What a joke, if people are scalping these then I guess the professionals scooped them all up to resell. Or maybe there is only a very limited number of free tickets since they're trying to sell the high end tickets. In any event it does seem destined to be an epic failure, can't imagine who would pay $250 to these clowns.

brooklyn heights, carrol gardens, cobble hill area pizza crawl

Don't bother with Fornino's pizza, it's not very good, very thin and crispy and not very tasty. You're better off at Campo de Fiori nearby, or even La Villa across the street.

Who has good Mexican take out in Park Slope?

Oaxaca tacos on 4th avenue. I love the carnitas taco and the korean, and everything else I've had there have been good.

There is always Rachel's for your standard hefty burritos too, but Oaxaca is really delicious.

Dine In Brooklyn

Had DIB dinner on Sunday at Benchmark and it was very good. Large portion of NY strip plus choice of three appetizers - shrimp, lobster bisque or short rib - our party tried all three and everything was great. And no complaints about the desserts either, was totally stuffed after the meal, in a good way. There were a coupel other entree choices but we all had the steak. My first time there and I'll be back.

Any bars with outdoor seating opened?

The Gate's outdoor area is open year round.

Please help with PARADE GROUND SOCCER FIELDS

See link below for the pizza place on Prospect Park Southwest. At most it's a 10-15 minute walk from the Parade Grounds. Haven't been in several years but recall it being standard, decent NYC pizza. They'd probably deliver to the Parade Grounds.

http://www.benepizzeria.com/

There is also an Uncle Louie G's next door if the kids want ice cream/icies.

There is a snack bar at the Parade Grounds, not sure it will be opened this time of year and its pretty lackluster, but fine for a hot dog and gatorade.

I hate the new release

I don't want to have to go through a search to simply view a Board. The previous version let you view posts by either Last Post of Date Started. Why would they remove that option in the new and "improved" release?

I hate the new release

what happended to the option to view posts by Date Started? I am not that interested in the 112th post on some string started 2 years ago and would much rather just keep an eye on the new stuff.

Places to eat by Prospect Park Bandshell

I second Double Windsor, great place, good food and interesting beer selection, although I like 12th Street bar a lot too.

Affordable catering company needed for Prospect Park wedding this fall

Last year we were told we could use someone from off the list but there would be a charge for it ($500 maybe?). Ended up using someone on the list though.

Home: Vietnamese in Park Slope

Home is a new Banh Mi place on 5th Ave across from MS 51, the 2nd part of an acrimonious spin off from Hancos and the first spin off near Hancos on 7th.

Haven't tried spin off #2 but I think I prefer Home, although their spicy is little too spicy for me. I'd rank them both behind Nicky's on Atlantic and Ba Xuyen of course, although I think part of the reason I love Ba Xuyen is that its so cheap and I like the excuse to go to Sunset Park and get Banh Mi anytime I'm even remotely nearby. (Speaking of Banh Mi, Bagouette on Lex in the 20's in the city is really good too.)

Haven't tried anything else at Home and have only done take out.

Middle Eastern near Brooklyn Musuem

There is a Zaytoons on Vanderbilt, which is very walkable. Was at another location of theirs many years ago, haven't been to this one. Can't think of any other middle eastern nearby. Tanoreen in Bay Ridge is very good but that would be a pretty long car service ride and a long subway ride back to the city. Also like Taci Beyti which is discussed a few topics down, slightly closer and near the Q train for return to City, but again not that convenient. There are plenty of other good restaurants on Vanderbilt and elsewhere nearby.

Can I afford to eat in Park Slope / Prospect Heights?

Amorina on Vanderbilt is great and will meet your budget, plus takeout beef patties and chicken from Christies, and there is always the hispanic place just above 7th ave on the PH side, forget the real name but fondly referred to as Carneviento, for greasy but tasty chicken and rice etc

DiFara's just closed Mondays nowdays?

does anyone know if they'll be open on christmas eve day?

Any Good BBQ in Brooklyn?

I went to Dinosaur recently and it was very good, excellent pulled pork, thought it was much better than Hill Country, Blue Smoke or Smoke Joint, which i think is very mediocore. Looking forward to Fette Sau one of these days

Where to eat around Atlantic/Flatbush Ave. of Brooklyn??

Walk up Flatbush to Christies for Beef Patties & Coco Bread, plus decent Jerk Chicken and other stuff. Its between Sterling and Plaza I think. Two other places that get good reviews and are nearby are Bark, a new fancy hot dog place, and City Subs.

Private Room for a Group Dinner of 25-30 people in Brooklyn

We did a group dinner at Palo Santo for approx 25 people and it worked very well and food was great.

Wedding Cake Recommendations...

I've seen one of these cakes and it was beautiful, didn't taste it though but they sound great.

Citi Field Eats

First visit to New Shea a few weeks ago and was not impressed at all. Unless you go out to centerfield and wait in line at Shake Shack and the other "name" places you are stuck with the same generic medicore ballpark food that you get everywhere else, and this includes the hotdogs. Beer was also the same pathetic selection (Bud, Bud Light....) as in the old stadium, still with only Brooklyn Lager from a can as a decent option. And again this is unless you go to centerfield to the special beer place. For $1 billion you'd think they could have a couple decent beers on tap. And why couldn't they have spread the good food stands around park so you don't have to waste a good part of the game wandering out there and waiting in line? And don't get me started on that big useless scoreboard......boy I sound like a crotchety old man....

Pizza-deprived in Canada seeking best pizza in Brooklyn . . . Help!

In your sister's neighborhood you should try Amorina on Vanderbilt, wonderful italian style pizzas in a very casual, friendly place. Not a big place but good for groups/kids. Much more laid back than Frannies.

"Naturally Delicious" or other bklyn caterers

We used Naturally Delicious for an event and they were great. Food was very good and service was great and they made it relatively easy on us. The meat and chicken dishes were very good and we had a great vegetable/grain salad.

Wedding Reception Locations in Park Slope

It is pricy and does get booked far in advance but the Picnic House is a great space and 130 people is a good fit for the room. Unless its really hot and you're doing a daytime event the lack of A/C is not a big deal since its open and airy and they have ceiling fans. Also they have a long list of caterers (not just Naturally Delicious) that you can use and for an additional fee you can use someone off the list. Naturally Delicious is very good though.

best case discount on wines in brooklyn?

We used Heights Chateau for an event and they were great in helping us choose several cases of very reasonably priced, and very good, wine

Dinner with kids near Brooklyn Botanic?

We frequent Teddy's on Washington for Greek (its sort of a nice diner), also the Mexican place, Los Muertos (sp?), a little further down is also good for burritos etc. and very casual.

Not far away on Vanderbilt, Amorina is excellent for interesting pizza and a limited additional menu.

A little more upscale but also very good is Cheryl's Global Soul on Underhill

we've taken kids & groups to all of these with good results, Amorina is not real big but if you get there on the early side its usually no problem, we often go with party of 8

Brooklyn Bar Crawl

Park Slope area makes for excellent pub crawl, see Bob Martinez excellent series of posts in the 4th Avenue strip (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/606353), take subway to Atlantic/Paciific stop and head south on 4th ave to Cherry Tree, Pacific Standard, 4th Ave Pub and Sheep Station, possible detour to great dive Canal Bar on 3rd ave, and then head up to 5th Ave and hit The Gate, Great Lakes, Union Hall and there are a bunch of others, always good to wind up at Barbes on 9th Street & 6th Ave for more beer and live music too. Haven't mentioned Dram Shop and Beer Table which are kind of beer geek places from what I've heard so probably not where you want to end up after 8 pints.

So many bars so little time.....

Reservation for 25-30 in Park Slope

Try Palo Santo, we've talked to them about a similar sized group and they were very accomodating. Plus I really like the restaurant

Williamsburg this Friday

Aurora is definitely a good choice

Teddy's: a really pleasant little neighborhood restaurant near the BAM

Wholeheartedly agree that Teddy's is a nice neighborhood place, we've enjoyed everything we've had there from basic diner style food to the greek stuff, and the lemon potatoes are really good. Its good for takeout too. But to avoid confusion.....BAM is Brooklyn Academy of Music which is a good mile+ away from The Brooklyn Museum which generally doesn't go by an acronym (they had switched to calling themselves the Brooklyn Museum of Art, or BMA, a few years ago but switched back for some reason).

Buying Bulk Beer in Brooklyn

There is a beer distributor on 3rd Ave near 7th or 8th street that has good prices on certain things, not sure about prices on the run of the mill stuff
