Rehearsal Dinner question of my own..

Thanks so much! These are some great ideas. :)

Rehearsal Dinner question of my own..

The other thread about rehearsal dinner ideas got me thinking about my own (next June).

Since we're getting married uptown, we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner in the Quarter to give our guests (most of whom have never been to NOLA) a somewhat controlled taste of the French Quarter.

A friend of ours has volunteered his courtyard off St. Ann, and we were hoping to have a relaxed rehearsal dinner with tubs of Abita and Barq's longnecks, and pitchers of mojitos (we met in south Florida).

We definitely want to do a crawfish boil, but we're trying to figure out catering ideas for the rest of the food...any ideas?

Thanks!

Prix Fixe menus?

I've really enjoyed the prix fixe meals at Slice.

Now, I know what you're thinking - why would you order a prix fixe at a pizza joint?

Slice just might surprise you - and the prices are very, very reasonable.

Rosy's Jazz Hall

First of all, congratulations! My fiance and I are having our reception there next June, and we went with Menu 3.

Steve Zweibaum told us flat out that he doesn't estimate items of food per person - his goal is to always have plenty of food for everyone. I love that approach, personally. :)

Charlie's Steakhouse

I live off Dryades, and man, do I miss Charlie's.

Top French Restaurants please

I totally recommend Cote Sud - it's in a tiny house between uptown and the Riverbend. It's incredibly reasonably priced and the food is just gorgeous.

Wedding cakes in N.O.??

Sucre - you want modern yet tasty? Definitely Sucre. For my niece's 16th birthday this summer, Sucre made a chocolate chiffon cake with cookies n' cream filling surrounded by fondant, in three layers made to resemble square presents. Gorgeous and surprisingly yummy.

Flour Power is another great choice, as is Zoe's.

I'm in the process of planning my wedding (next summer), and the above three are modern and unique. They're definitely costly, but if you're looking for something very special and non-traditional, Sucre, Flour Power and Zoe's should be at the top of your checklist.

(That said, because we're on a hardcore budget and my fiance loves traditional almond cake, we did go with a lady in her kitchen. She's a doll.)

Good luck!
