Ice Pan
We had the strawberry with whole milk, and it was great! intense fresh strawberry taste that I haven't seen available anywhere else. I think it really depends on what combination you get. We'll be going back for that, if nothing else.
Going to Osteria Mozza
Of the Secondi, definitely recommend the Guinea Fowl. I'm going again Friday night and I can't wait to try the things we couldn't fit in last time!
Craft: Is it worth it?
We went this last weekend to both Osteria Mozza and Craft (weekend night prime-time reservations at 7pm and 8pm respectively) and I would say that Craft's service didn't feel like it had everything running on all cylinders yet. Not sure if it was where our table was placed, but the waitstaff would just glance past our table as they went to serve others. A few times we had problems flagging down servers as they were passing our table. They seemed to be distracted and aloof.
Our party of six, at the end of the evening, felt collectively that just due to service and ambiance they would head back to OM first. I think the kitchens at both are turning out some good food, and it was fun to see Nancy and Tom in their native environments, but OM seems to have the whole package currently.
Happy hour in Burbank that won't kill me - impossible request, it's challenge!!
Try McCormick & Schmick's over on Olive at Riverside near the Studios. They have Fish Tacos, Oyster Shooters, Mussels, Bruschetta and a great big not-at-all-healthy burger, all for only $1.95 each from 4-7pm (or at least 6:30pm I think).

Hollywood bowl picnic dinner
Dinah's Chicken in Glendale rocks! ...and its on the way... We are headed to the Sound of Music sing-a-long this Saturday at the HB and I think that's what we are taking.
Anyone eaten at Eight 18 yet?
Just got an email from a friend saying her boss was raving about a new tapas place in Toluca Lake called Eight-18. Much to my suuprise the review she sent me made it sound like Mardi Gras had gone out of business and Eight-18 is the replacement? Anyone have any reviews before we go tonight?
Vertical Wine Bistro in Pasadena
We (approx 8 ppl) went there a week or so ago, and while we enjoyed the food, we really missed on the wines. We had both of the pinot noir flights (US & French), a bottle of wine and a couple individual glasses, all red. No one was impressed with their wines, and while none of us are real wine collectors, we all drink reds on a regular basis and ordered wines we thought would fit into our normal drinking habits.
Hope they get their wine figured out sometime soon! I don't think I can get this group to go back after our experience...
LA specific foodie items and where to find them
I just got my VA based cousin and her family a gift basket from Boudin Bakery. She was craving sourdough, cheeses and salami (she grew up out here) but isn't too foodie about it, so it fit the bill. I alawys find it so odd that she really can't find any good sourdough out there. I forget how regional it is.
HELP!! What are the BEST ASIAN MARKETS around town?
Famima is opening across from Jamba Juice in Glendale. More of a glam, high quality 7-11 than a real asian market. Still very fun for take-away foods though!
ISO - Red Velvet Cupcakes!
I've heard about a few places in the SF/Berkeley area that do cupcakes but I haven't seen any that do Red Velvet. Anyone know of any?
