Middendorf's Question

Middendorf's is still in the original location in Manchac/Akers. It is about 10-11 miles south of Ponchatoula on I-55.

There are directions on the website - middendorfsrestaurant.com

Pre-Fixe on the Vegas Strip for under $100

Oops. Sorry, I see now that you have already tried Charlie Palmer.

Pre-Fixe on the Vegas Strip for under $100

We had the Cut of the Week menu recently at Charlie Palmer Steak in the Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay. The food was excellent, and the price is $48 per person, including wine pairings.

Heads up on a "No Name" Pizza place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel

We had tasty pizza there last week after checking into the Cosmopolitan at 10:00 pm. We tried both the pepperoni and four cheese. We loved the crust - thin and very crispy. Our only complaint was that after going strong for 20 hours that day, we would have loved to sit down and eat. There were only 5 bar stools for seating, so we ended up standing at a counter.

Where to find sea urchin?

My husband had uni at Sushi Nami on Windward Pkway about 2 weeks ago. You might try there.

Asian restaurants at the Wynn. Welcome suggestions.

I've eaten at Wing Lei and Okada. I find Wing Lei to be quite inconsistent. I've had great meals there and so-so meals there.

I've have only good experiences at Okada. I especially like their teppanyaki and their sake selection is excellent. The view of the waterfall is also wonderful.

I've also eaten at Red 8. It is right on the casino floor and a bit more casual. Great for lunch, but I wouldn't go for dinner after a show as the casino does get a bit loud by then.

Visit to ATL - staying near Suwanee, GA.

We live on the Johns Creek side of Suwanee. Not a terrific food area, but there are a few good spots.

We love Quanto Basta. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant at the intersection of Hwy. 20 and Windermere Parkway. Solid menu and a good wine list.

Asian Table is in the same little shopping center. Good creative Asian - Chinese, Singapore, Thai.

For Mexican, we like Cinco (there are locations on McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek, as well as on Peachtree Industrial in Suwanee). Not your average heavy sauces, loaded with cheese, kind of Mexican.

Please help me narrow this list down, ATL Hounds...

China Delight has excellent dim sum. I like to go on Sunday because the variety is greater. I've not tried ordering off their menu.

We love China Delight for Dim Sum. On Chamblee Tucker Road, just west of Buford Hwy.

4-course at Bacchanalia or 7-course tasting at Eugene?

I, too, would easily choose Bacchanalia over Eugene.

Braircliff Village area recs

If I am not mistaken, there is a shopping area called Briarcliff Village that is across from Northlake Mall near where Briafcliff splits off La Vista just inside the perimeter. If so, there is a great little mom & pop Italian place called Bambinelli's that is just a couple of blocks from there. A little farther down La Vista in the Oak Grove Village area is Mezza Grill which is excellent Lebanese food served small plate style.

Near Four Seasons?

I work in the office tower above the 4 Seasons. The address is 75 14th Street. It is a great location for restaurants. I agree with all the suggestions above.

A few more - The hotel's restaurant, Park 75, is very good for breakfast. For more casual dining, Tin Lizzy's Cantina is just around the corner on Cresent street. I also enjoy Shout in Colony Square just a block from the hotel.

Need Rome restaurant suggestions near Via Vittorio Veneto

My husband and I are returning to Rome for our second time - we were last there in Dec 2008. Last trip we stayed in an apartment near Campo dei Fiori. We had many memorable meals, and we definitely plan repeat visits to Cul de Sac, Pierluigi, and Pizzeria Acchiapafantasmi.

This time, however, we are staying for free on points at the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora on Via Vittorio Veneto. We would like to find a few reasonable (50 euro per person or less) restaurants in that part of Rome so that we don't have to stray far from the hotel on the evenings when we've been touring all day. We both love all types of food, with our preferences leaning toward simple preparations with very fresh ingredients.

I appreciate any ideas.

Buckhead Area Dining Options

I am not a vegetarian, but I have always enjoyed the food from Cafe Sunflower.

Place to buy ramps in Atlanta?

I think it is still a bit too early for ramps. Definitely check Dekalb Farmer's Market closer to mid-April.

Buford Highway Hidden Gems?

My husband and I want to explore more of the ethnic food restaurants in the Buford Highway area, but we aren't sure where to start. I'd be interested in knowing what are some of the excellent choices in the area.

Here are three of my favorites so far -

New Orleans style seafood - Crawfish Shack - 4337 Buford Highway
Dim Sum - China Delight - 2390 Chamblee Tucker Road
Lebanese - Lawrence's Cafe - 2888 Buford Highway

5 nights in Vegas, here is where we are booked, thoughts?

I've eaten at SW several times. Good quality, but not ultra special. We were RFB, so it was comped. If I were paying, I would probably choose CUT or perhaps CarneVino, both of which I found to be excellent.

5 nights in Vegas, here is where we are booked, thoughts?

Isla Mexican is in TI, which would make it an easy stop after Mystere. It gets mixed reviews on here, but I've eaten there 5 times and never had a bad meal. A contemporary take on some traditional dishes. I love the guacamole with roasted pumpkin seeds. Of course the main reason we go is for the blackberry mojitos - our favorite cocktail on that end of the strip.

Dim Sum

We had lunch there today. The best dim sum I've found in Atlanta. Thanks for the recommendation. A couple of the highlights for me were the steamed pork buns (hardly any fat at all and a nice flavor) and the egg custards (soft warm custard in a nice flaky crust).

Restaurant Recommendations for Alpharetta

I like Vinny's on Windward Parkway. It is a more laid-back sister restaurant to Bistro VG in Roswell. Italian with an innovative twist, and they pride themselves on using the highest quality ingredients. http://www.knowwheretogogh.com/vinnys.html

Our favorite sushi is also in Alpharetta - Sushi Nami on Windward Parkway. Everything we've had is very fresh. I love the lobster roll and the tempura. My husband always has the chirashi don, which has the best assortment of sashimi of any place he orders it in the Atlanta area.

Italian in Vegas

Enoteca San Marco always reminds me of eating at a little restaurant overlooking Piazza Navona in Rome. Doesn't get much more Italian than that. And yes, they are still on restaurant.com, making them a very good value. Just don't expect spaghetti and meatballs ala Olive Garden, although the veal and ricotta meatballs with polenta are yummy.

Cheap Rome

We had amazing gelato at GELATERIA FRIGIDARIUM, which is located at Via del Governo Vecchio, 112, near Piazza Navona and not far from the Pantheon. I am still craving their dark chocolate orange gelato that had chunks of real orange in it.

Midtown/Buckhead Atlanta - Great Spot that Would Deliver A Meal That Would Keep/Freeze?

Try The Dinner A'fare -- www.dinnerafare.com . I know the location nearest us delivers. I have some friends that love their meals.

Is it possible to find 'nduja in Atlanta?

I fell in love with 'nduja (very spicy Calabrian spreadable salami) when we were in Rome last year. We had it on a pizza, but it is also sometimes used in pasta sauce or just spread on toasted bread. Does anyone know if there is a place here in Atlanta to purchase it?

Best Pizza in Rome, Italy. Any advise?

We ate at Baffetto 2 when we were in Rome at this time last year. Good, but definitely not the best we had. Our favorite was a toss-up between Dar Poeta and Acchiappafantasmi.

Savannah breakfast

We had an excellent breakfast recently at The Express Cafe & Bakery. It is family owned. Not sure about biscuits, but the baked goods we had were excellent.

Atlanta Thanksgiving Fiasco at Ray's on the River

We had reservations at Ray's on the River for Thanksgiving dinner at 6:00 pm - a party of 2. We showed up around 5:45 and expected a few minutes wait. The hostess told us that the wait was 1:30 PAST our reservation time - meaning that we would be put on the list for the first table available after 7:30! We would not be able to get a table before then because there were walk-ins who had been waiting over 2 1/2 hours.

We left without enjoying the dinner we had looked forward to and don't plan to visit there again.

The hostess couldn't tell me why there was such a delay, but obviously they either overbooked or were taking too many walk-ins. The atmosphere was horrible - everyone was complaining, and the restaurant even had a local sheriff's officer in uniform present at the hostess desk to keep crowd control.

Am I being unreasonable to expect that a 6 pm reservation means that I should be seated within a reasonable time? I would have been fine with a half-hour wait, but not 1 1/2 hours.

Thanksgiving in Atlanta

Are you referring to Eats at 600 Ponce? They've been around since the mid-90's. As far as I know, they are not affiliated with Eatzi's.

Four Night in Vegas - Please Critique my List

I think that Alex in the Wynn would be a better choice than Wing Lei. The $89 per person Taste of Wynn menu is a wonderful value.

Tasting menus in Las Vegas

Charlie Palmer Steak does a wonderful 5 course Sunday Supper with a different menu each week. I think it is 48 per person, 70 with wine pairings. It is at the Four Seasons (connected to Mandalay Bay), which is near where you are staying.
