Marion Cobretti's Profile
Panettone?
You don't need fresh baked. Panettone is all about getting the box from Italy. Fiesta Farms at Cristie south of Dupont has the best selection I've ever seen. And good prices to boot! I reccommend Bauli brand. It comes with a packet of icing sugar, so it's fun to sprinkle your own!
BYOW at Colborne Lane?
Does anyone know if Colborne Lane allows you to bring your own wine? If so, anyone know the corkage? I know I could call, but thought I just hate talking to most people. Thanks in advance all.
Date Night in BWV or Etobicoke
Humm, mid price range in BWV. I'm not sure I can help, but if the date nights are rare and you're looking to make it nice, why not hit ViBo? It's great.
Best Pho in Toronto?
Golden Turtle rocks. Best pho I've had, that's for sure, plus the atmosphere/service is great. It's worth a trip just to check out what's going on at Ossington these days. Tons of great resturants/bars.
Casually upscale in Mississauga
Check out La Castile for one of the best steak houses in the city (my personal fave). The atmosphere, service and impeccable wine list add to the experience greatly. Plus, there's a great piano bar.
The seafood/steak platter for two is an experience not to be missed.
Best Places to Eat in Yonge Eglinton?
Plus, they have a killer selection of cheeses!
Cafe du Lac (Lakeshore W/Mimico area) - review
I had a Bison burger that was fattened up with some bacon fat the other day. First time I ever enjoyed one - they're just too lean otherwise.
Best Places to Eat in Yonge Eglinton?
I've worked in the area for 5 years, so here goes.
First off, come on people ... Centro is estill excellent.
Also, La Vecchia - excellent light Italian food.
Quince and Zucca are also excellent.
Grazie has it's days - sometimes the specials surprise.
Jaipur Grille has some pretty mean vindaloo.
Lots of decent options...
Where to eat when you don't want fancy in the west end but do want good food
If this isn't too late...
Musa is great - absolutely recommended. Their brunch is NOT TO BE MISSED. Recommend the omelet with salmon and capers. Yum.
If you're over in that area and are in the mood for a sandwich, head to the Monarch Tavern on Clinton St and grab the brisket from Caplanski's. I had for the first time last night and nearly fainted. The menu basically consists of one sandwich done three ways - Lean, Medium and Fatty. I think it's obvious which is the best choice...
Where to eat when you don't want fancy in the west end but do want good food
If you want to hit Delux, you'd better have a reservation. If you can get in - GO. Foxley rules, but be prepared to wait. I live next door, so I see the lines every day.
What about Atelier Thuet? Reasonable and funky.
How far west are you thinking?
