Ipsedixit Was Right--Visit To New Port Seafood Beverly Hills

Bet more satisfied customers in one night at just lawrys than all of abbot Kinney in a weekend.

Fogo does huge business.

Matsuhisa is a classic.

Bazaar is packed

And how could I not mention the stinking rose

Salt and Straw

I would like to hit quinelle.

i'll take certain of carmela's flavors instead, ie the salted caramel or the dark chocolate coco nib, but it's great stuff...particularly the fruit flavors....if you want just a cone or scoops and don't want a big line, hit up Joans on Third where they've had 8 or so flavors for a few years. And then you can walk a few blocks east to Carmela.

Been a banner year for ice cream in LA.

Stoned oven pizza

Will put your po po neighbors in simi out of work! Genie already out of the bottle and it ain't going back in.

chinese in beverly hills?

Yes

Today is my lucky day, Ike's Place Westwood soft opens with free sandwiches!

sounds like you just need to fork over cash to chowhound these days...

I think you're underestimating the hustle and bustle in that part of town

NYer coming to LA for birthday: top picks? buffet brunch? upscale Chinese w/ Dongpo pork + Peking duck?

frankly, you could have done worse at red medicine too...I didn't see any terrarium kind of dishes with layers of mush on your agenda...you're not alone re the service there -- I have found it haughty and detached.

those French fries at Jar, and the lobster bernaise and steak,...nothing novel, but add a cocktail and hot fudge sundae and hell that's a dinner without regrets.

Terroni (downtown) reviewed

meant weho area, where terroni on Beverly is, and olio pizza...

I haven't tried colori but would like to...what's the right stuff to order..I have a hard time not going to bucato.

in that hood olio is much better for pizza, but no pasta...my european in laws like the moderate priced pasta dishes and euro atmosphere.

...in a cruel twist of fate our sitter had to bail out so I'm still waiting to see this flick, and others (my choices).

Peyton Manning was quoted as saying the law there has done wonders for his regular pizza businesses (papa johns I think) too.

nice report and photos, thanks.

good to hear the report on Culina -- underrated spot.

Red Medicine -- i'll take tasty over innovative any day (ie Jar). For me, RM always more misses than hits. It certainly fills a niche tho, but I always regret after I return.

man, you guys packed in a lot of fun!

Tacos Por Favor (Santa Monica location)

looks good...try plancha. they have ground beef and asada but not shredded I believe.

Tacos Por Favor (Santa Monica location)

yeah I would stick to other items on the menu next time and you'll do much better --

soft shell tacos or burritos-chorizo potato and cheese (or some of those); asada, fried fish taco, pastor/carnitas tacos and breakfast burritos. and agua frescas.

for that kind of hard shell tacos, I hate to say it but late at night after drinking, you can always run to the border or del taco...for good "gourmet" hard shell tacos, there's a spot in weho and venice called plancha.
