Cupcake Mecca

I would definitely agree with Butter Lane, the mix/match option with the frosting is always appreciated and they are allergy friendly (keep peanut stuff seperated!)

Caterers - Berkshires (Recs needed)

My fiancee and I will be getting married in the Southfield/New Marlborough Area next fall and are looking for caterers. I was hoping people have had some experiences with some caterers in the area. We do have a few allergies so flexibility is always a plus (asian inspired food would be the ultimate!). Thanks for all the help.

Best burger on the UWS?

The Parlour has a great sirloin burger... big and not that expensive either

any ideas for a romantic birthday dinner for my girlfriend, kinda picky

You may want to lok at Cosette on 33rd (I believe) ,little French Bistro, the owner and wife do all the serving...

Resturants that Cater

I think Union Square Hospitality Group does also (Danny Meyer's group)

any suggestions for upper west side sushi?

Gari is the best up there, but it is also probably the most expensive. If you do go you have to sit at the bar, significantly better experience

Large Breakfast in Western CT

I have heard that the "Kitchen Sink" at Leo's in Southbury is the place to go to undertake a breakfast food challenge. I was just wondering if there was any other place within around an hour that has very large breakfasts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Artisanal?

also make sure you get the french onion soup...

Santa Monica Tomorrow

I have a friend who is taking me to Santa Monica tomorrow afternoon, what would be a good place (relatively cheap) to get a bite to eat for a lunch/late lunch. Any cuisine, just delicious food. Thanks.

shake shack

Actually Danny Meyer does have a catering service and it is soo good, they serve a very good mix of apps (from quail egg brioche to mini shake shack burgers) and the dinner they put on is very good as well, I would highly recommend it, I believe it is called Union Square Hospitality Group.

Saturday dinner in San Francisco

You should go to Gary Danko and just wait till a seat comes up at the bar, enjoy a few drinks and order there, it is the same menu at the bar and you can usually get a seat there if you dont mind waiting for a litt (though you may want to get there on teh early side)

Non-Chowish Sunday brunch with great view or ...?

What about hte Sunday brunch at the Claremont, I remember going a few years ago and it was great, has it changed?

day of massive eating indulgence

I would say start on the UWS with Barney Greengrass and split the Nova platter, then start to make your way downtown, though I would definitely second the Kimchee Dumplings at Mandoo, you could also split the Kimchee Ramen at Momofuku, not neccesarily traditional, but delicious

Help! Birthday celebration with 10-15 friends in May

It depends what the budget is, I have had birthday parties at Eleven Madison Park that were great, but I am not sure if that is within the budget or not. I know if you get a latish reservation they would probably not plan on doing a seating after you so you could hang out for awhile

cream cheese bagel with smoked salmon?

How are you going to say nothing comes close? What about Banrey Greengrass?

Duck

I have had a serious craving for some great duck... where would be the place to go for this? Please keep in mind I am a teacher and am looking for a place that is not too $$$ ($100 for two people is about max). Thanks all!

Where to get crawfish for a bears/saints party???

I believe I used the LA Crawfish Company, with them you can specify how many pounds you want while some places only give you 5lb increments, the most you pay should be like $5/lb but that includes overnight shipping. I have a good place near me for anduille, so I dont know about their sausage, but they should be able to supply you with everything else. I called to order and they were very friendly and helpful (though it may be the last name Boudreaux that clued them in I knew what I was talking about) But I was very happy with it. Good luck and enjoy (though I am very jealous)

Where to get crawfish for a bears/saints party???

Your best best is to order them online, they will be shipped up live, typically with the spices as well. I have done this on a few occasions and just done my own boil. Then all you need is some anduille, corn, onions, garlic, and lotsa beer and you are ready to go. Have you ever done a boil before though?

Torys Yakitorri on 52nd st

What could two people expect to spend for a good amount of food (full not gorged), if we would probably not get drinks? Also, is there anything especially recommended?

Artisan doughnuts in or around Berkeley

Well, it depends what you are looking for, if you want the off the beaten path donuts then you may not be looking for, but, if you want the lightest, most delicious "regular" donuts (raised glazed, long chocolate, donut holes etc.) Johnny's in Lafayette is by far the best around, not only that but the owner and his wife are both extremely nice and friendly. He is the only one who makes the donuts in the shop and it is just the 2 of them that work it (except when their son is around).

Recommendation for LES drinks/appetizers?

You might want to check out cafe havana in SOHO i believe, sort of on teh $$ side but real good mojitos and good food, great grilled corn app

Relatively Inexpensive UES italian

Is there such a thing? There are four of us and my girlfriend has a craving for italian tonight. I am just trying to avoid the $20-27 entree places (though I know there are some delicious ones) Any recs would be great, thanks

Hip "downtown" dinner-date place on Upper East Side?

I took a date to Zebu on the UES, it is Brazillian "hip" place, and I thought it was very good... not much of a wine list but good drinks

A question of a proposal

I would say Cosette, it is low 30's betw. Lex and 3rd, small place (maybe 40 seats) and it is good food. The owners are the ones who also are the waitstaff, but they are attentive, very nice and very helpful. They do not take reservations but I would imagine if you went ahead of time they would save a seat for you. It is also fairly reasonably priced.

Need to impress my boss...

Not as near TS but sushi samba does a very cool innovative brunch on sundays, i thinks its $15 a person but you get tons of food...

trendy nyc restaurant for birthday

A few years ago I organized a 21st birthday party dinner for my then girlfriend. There was no private room but they set us (18 people I think) at a few tables all together. They were great, the chef came out and asked how everything was going and said happy birthday to the birthday girl and they made her a special dessert. I organized it fairly far in advance, but she loved it...

Dinner after Marriage Proposal

I would say Cosette (French). It is in low 30's between Lex and 3rd I believe. Great small romantic atmosphere.I thought the food was delicious as well, my duck with a cherry reduction was cooked perfectly and my girlfriends mussles were delicious as well. Also, with wine and such you still will probably only spend $100-130. It is just the owners who run the dining room but they do a great job.

UES Lite Fare

My girlfriend and I are hoping to go to dinner with friends (4 people total) somewhere on UES. We are just looking for something relatively light, and preferably not too expensive(

Manhattan Sushi

Depends on how much you are looking to spend among other factors, just do a search on the board and I am sure numerous debates will come up... though if money is not an issue my 2 cents would say Sushi of Gari, and sit at the bar (though Hotai does not do a bad job at west-side Gari either)

Chemical cooking?

My friend was trying to describe a restaurant he knew where they "cooked without actually cooking the food" and maybe used chemical cooking perhaps. Im not sure and frankly it confused me but also piqued my interest. He mentioned it may be in SoHo but not sure. Any help you could provide would be great...
