Looking for littlenecks

I'd like to find some fresh and reasonably-priced littlenecks and perhaps steamers as well as I'm making dinner for 8 and have my heart set on a main course with clams. Is there a place to get them in Manhattan that has good prices? I live near the Lobster Place on Bleecker and they seem expensive at .50 apiece, but perhaps that's just the going rate. Also, is the Wed. fishmonger at the farmers market pricier? Thanks for any advice you might have.

Mexican by Mexicans in Chestertown

So we've been coming down to Chestertown on the Eastern Shore for the past 5 years (3 hrs from NYC, 90 mins from Philly and DC.) It's a beautiful, 18th century port town on the Chesapeake (the Chester River actually which wends it way to the bay eventually). Kent County is one of the most rural areas on the Eastern Shore, all farmland, very spread out, quiet. The farms are packed with migrant Mexicans, so we've been wondering if we would ever find a Mexican restaurant. And finally last year, one opened.

Tapatia is located in the parking lot of a big shopping plaza, with a tacky neon sign, so close to the KFC you are overwhelmed by the smeel as you walk to the door. There would be no reason to go in except if you knew there was a serious Mexican community in town. We are thrilled with the food - very user-friendly standard Mexican fare - burritos, fajitas, tamales, enchiladas, etc. But the food is just roundly spectacular. We're from NYC, and this could rival any of the NYC options we have in our Greenwich Village neighborhood. And the chile rellenos are to die for. Even the beans and rice are perfection.

I don't know if you ever have a reason to pass through these parts - it is not on the way to anywhere, but this place is worth the trip. The service is erratic and charming, only 50% of the staff speak English, though they don't let on - they just smile and nod as you ask for something. Then go away and never come back. And the price is great too. If you're looking for an excuse to do a day trip from DC sometime, check this place out. And nearby Rock Hall has some nice views if you like boating.

Looking for a good dinner spot tonight, not far from or in Insadong - any suggestions?

Good Indian catering needed for memorial reception (reasonably-priced)

Thank you for that recommendation. Where is it located? I find a few with Minar in the title when I google it.

Good Indian catering needed for memorial reception (reasonably-priced)

I'm hosting a reception for my cousin's memorial service. He was in his early 50s, a lovely eccentric guy, who adored Indian food above all else. I want to find a nice, reasonably-priced Indian caterer for his memorial service and reception in my home. We live right around the corner from East 6th Street, though would be open to other places. I can probably russle up some people to help serve if they don't provide servers. Thanks for your help! This is coming up in 2 weeks.

The classic chowhound "discovery" - tell us yours!

As a newbie to this place, I am curious to hear about how people have come to discover their off-the-beaten-track "gems". Was it in your neighborhood? Did you deliberately wander the streets of an unknown neighborhhod in search of a specific cuisine? Did you call the (fill in the country here) embassy and ask the receptionist where she eats? A taxi-driver?

I am often drawn to an errand in an out-of-the-way place simply because I can eat at a new and obscure (to me anyway) restaurant. I wonder how people find their "finds".

Top 5 unzagated authentic "ethnic" food in Queens?

I'd like to know where to eat authentic, non-mainstream (e.g. no popular: European, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, etc.) off-the-beaten track, more obscure, food.

A place where food critics and zagateers don't frequent. (Or haven't yet.)

Or am I asking too much?

I need a breakfast restaurant good for a meeting - near 59th and lex. Any suggestions?

I don't know the neighborhood at all and always get such good advice from this board. Sorry this question is so banal!
