frankiess spuntino on clinton st. in LES - great meatballs, wine, and salads in a cute little tin roof place. totally affordable, too

i'm moving to crown heights from south slope, does anyone know of any good eats around nostrand and sterling? or any good delivery places?

thank you!

Greek or Turkish for Bday Celebration?

it's not festive, but it is great: Uskador in UES. very good, but cozy.

Healthy Dining w/ meat and veggie options

Hello, I'm looking for a good place that fulfills as many of these variables as possible:

- below 14th st., preferably in the east or west village
- inexpensive to mid-range: I'm thinking plates between $10 and $22.
- "healthy" or organic food
- serves both meat and veggie options
- serves wine and beer (at least).
- outdoor seating a big plus,
- open to "exotic" or whathaveyou.

Who is up to this challenge?

thanks!

best thai in San Diego?

What are the best thai restaurants in San Diego? Are any good for groups?

I am planning on having a rehearsal wedding dinner at a thai rest in SD, nothing too fancy but it would need to accomodate about 15-20 people.

thanks!

Good quick eats near the SD airport

Any good suggestions for getting a lunch before take off or after landing at the San Diego airport?? Mexican, Seafood, or anything tasty and not too fussy would be great.

thanks!

In search of sweet potato pie (whole)

Hi,

I'm looking for a good sweet potato pie in manhattan, (below 14th please) or in brooklyn (carroll gardens, park slope areas).

thanks!

Soup Season

Please post your favorite soup or stew recipes. I want to make something hearty, but simple and delicious for this cold NY night.

minestrone? vegetable, etc?

thanks!

Semi-casual rehearsal dinner suggestions?

please post your top restaurant pics for a place that might work for a wedding rehearsal dinner, a place that could accommodate a group of about 12-15 people comfortably. Not looking for high-end, but something tasty, maybe seafood or italian, open to ideas. Near downtown or Hillcrest would be great.

thanks!

curry leaf or other non-veg indian?

any recent trips to curry leaf or a good, inexpensive indian rest. in curry hill or the vicinity?

thanks.

Delivery in Park Slope

what do recommend for comfort food or asian???

red hook ballfields

the best tacos (only tacos if you ask me) in NY will be up and running through the end of Oct., just don't tell anyone.

best sandwiches in lower manhattan?

2slices,

what are your favorites in the neigborhood??

where to find fresh saltwater taffy?

thanks!

where to find fresh saltwater taffy?

this chewy stuff was a favorite as a kid and i miss it.

best sandwiches in lower manhattan?

thank you for suggesting crosby connection. i now have a new favorite! it was just what i was looking for and i don't think i would have found it any other way.

disappointing lemondade, but who cares when you have sandwich that tasty, not to mention enormous.

Brunch in the east village?

i also love 9th street market-- eggs in a basket. lots of food for around $10, and good "bad" coffee.

best sushi high end best sushi day to day

miyami (west 3rd at 6th ave) is decent everyday sushi, probably the best near wash sq., agree that tomoe went way downhill.

also on ave A(i think) and 3rd street, there is a good every-day sushi place, can't recall the name.

cube63 is another good one (usually), though the last time i was there is was just so-so.

soytaco in nyc?

thanks, but it's a grocery product. was looking to make tacos at home and can't find an equivalent on the east coast, not to mention a good burrito.

Maille mustard with herbs

dean and deluca has some amazing mustards, could try there.

best sandwiches in lower manhattan?

thanks everyone for all the suggestions. i guess i could have been more specific.

i'm actually looking good italian deli or just basic take-out deli (but also love the variants - spanish, vietnamese, etc)
ideally between canal and 14th street, though i will certainly check out alleva and any others that are exceptional and on the inexpensive side.

j'adore the adore on the 13th, but almost forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder! i eat at 'ino all the time (a friend works there), but can't go there without having a glass of wine, so best to stay away for weekday lunches!

thanks again,
k

best sandwiches in lower manhattan?

so many delis, but where are the best sandwiches? please do not say katz.

Bar Minnow

i've never been, but only heard bad things from friends . . . maybe they should change their name and forget the seafood

Sushi in Park Slope or South Slope?

I've tried Tamari and liked it.

Blue Ribbon looks too pricey.

Anyone tried Kiku?

New to south Slope and starving

Bar BQ is amazing for bbq and at a good price you get a full-size meal. they don't deliver, though.

Jack's is solid enough. great pancakes.

Steinhoff has goulash for $5 on mondays.

The only good mexican is in red hook at the ball fields.

has anyone tried the take-out/delivery sushi place Kiku??

BBQ side dishes?

do you have recipes for the orzo salad, the egg and potato salad?
