Done well, indeed. Casual, all cuisine but sushi, edible, 10+/- miles from Tinton Falls, inexpensive to moderate (30 -60$ for two w/o wine), BYOB is great, takeout is fine also.

A butcher, farmers market and bakery suggestions if available. We'll be at Monmouth Park Sunday, haven't been for five years, Grandstand food may have improved, any recent experiences appreciated.

Best Value Store Bought Champagne or Sparkling Wine?

We've tripped over cremant d'alsase from Pierre Sparr, a reputable producer of still Alsatians.

It's $9.99 at Yankee Spirits in Swansea, should be available up your way. Brookline was my favorite metro shop in the early 70's, yankees hold onto a good thing!

Chow in Fall River Mass.?

We live a half mile from The Ugly American and "take out" often and every night my wife drags in at 7:00. The fish and chips are delicious and remarkably consistent. The burgers and chicken sandwiches hit the mark as well. Gary, the gentleman owner/cook has a light hand with the fryer and offers suggestions if you ask. No easy business, especially in a town that didn't need a leverage implosion to feel pain, These small honest gems deserve our support.

WARNING: Restaurant.com

I purchased two coupons from this site for a trip to Vegas.

A month later a $14.95 charge appears on my CC from "Shopping Essentials". An hour later, via Chase M/C, they connect me with a gentleman who indicates my recurring subscription charges began after a 30 day free trial initiated via my dealings with Restaurant.com. He agrees to cancel my account and credit the $14.95.

I may have tripped the "subscription" inadvertantly. It would be a first in my frequent internet purchases or it may have been the "fly in the ointment". Ripoffreport.com has dozens of similar complaints.

Food for thought. My Restaurant.com days are over.

Vegas and Summerlin

Late followup: Grimaldi's was at least 80% of the Brooklyn/Fulton St. pie and that can be taken to the bank.
We got restaurant.com $10 for $25 certificates, but got jammed up in Summerlin and gave them to our bellman with a few unopened wines from Trader Joe's.
Thank you all, I'll be back in July and follow through. Incidential...the rib spot at Red Rock was a lot better than you'd expect...ditto for the grilled fish at Tides.

Vegas and Summerlin

We had excellent food at Border Grill in The Mandalay and they are a $25 for 10 restaurant.com offer.

Our meal was 5 years ago. Any recent visitors?

Vegas and Summerlin

Our mid to lower would be, for food only, appetizer and entree $60 max for two before wine and tip. Low drops from there to roughly $30.

All suggestions have been devoured with relish, Grimaldi's with zinfandel or a Spanish red at the condo.

Vegas and Summerlin

We're spending 2 days, Tues-Wed, at month's end in a condo near The Strip and Thur-Sun in Summerlin. The first 2 days we'll provision at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, cooking in.

Any suggestions on mid and lower dining-out from a Summerlin base. We eat anything well prepared, prefer BYOB, takeout is fine but would have to return to a Summerlin hotel without kitchen amenities.

I've taken all previous notes to heart and pencil...the only choices cast in stone are several Grimaldi's pies and Whole Food's NY strips.

Happy New Year to all!

Granville, OH and Charleston, WV

Sorry for the ridiculous delay, I hadn't checked the board.
We ended up trapsing central Ohio and West Virginia so much, little time was devoted to dining curiosity.
Brew's in Granville was disappointing, the burgers were run-of-the-mill but choices are few in that pretty town.
The Blossom Dairy in Charleston looked great but we happened on a funky spot near our B & B. The Bluegrass Kitchen, on an "iffy" main street offered a half dozen well made, varied entrees/sandwiches from $8-12 and reasonably priced wines. We ate there four days running.
Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.

Thanks, all. Off to the Midlands.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

1st Ave and 64th area suggestions?

Our stay was more harried than planned.A snafu at the "meet and greet" 3-day landlord left us tired, famished and apt-less at 64th and 1st.Two hours were covered at John's (a good pie well below Bleecker) and we were in.Cheese, deli meats and crackers at the Food Emporium and Gourmet Garage on 64th made dinner all three nights.

We spent one day in Jersey visiting and strolled Park to the Oyster Bar on Saturday where my wife proudly ate her first fresh bivalves. Sunday AM we loaded at excellent BagelWorks (1st not Pick a Bagel or DD) before a taxi/Port Authority bus ride to Providence.
The taxi had to skirt 9th Ave at 49th, blocked off by a slaying, very urban!
We checked out all spots mentioned, thank you one and all.

Providence to Saratoga and Lake George

Thanks emilief and Marco, we'll check 'em out.

What is New York Pizza?

Growing up on the Fairfield/Bridgeport line, a place opened called the Apizza Center...about 25 booths a service beer/wine bar and damn good pies, at least to 10 year old kids in 1955.

People always left their charred crust ends on the platter and we'd cruise the aisles daily to finish a few off.

Years later a friend/neighbor in KC,MO called one night to see if we wanted to go out. I told him we were hungry and did he want to split a large pie. An abrupt "no" until the next morning when his girlfriend told me his request, "You better tell that guy I don't eat sweets."

What is New York Pizza?

Jania hit the nail on the head.John's on Bleeker, Grimaldi's on Fulton in Brooklyn or Frank Pepe's in New Haven are the standards, in reverse order.

Tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausage, mushroom(optional). IMHO

Ten day holiday... Encinitas, Del Mar, Ramona

We just returned and considering the generous suggestions posted offer our humble experiences.

The thrust of the trip was racing at Del Mar which minimized our free time. Three nights in an Encinitas B&B ended up once with a pizza from Pizzacato(name?), 3 cheese, mushroom, sausage...OK though dry and doughy crust. New Haven, NYC and Boston have spoiled us. The other two nights were 6 Juanita's tacos, pork and fish with a jug of wine back in the room...remarkable food for the price and a joy to take in the mix while waiting in line.

Several lunches at The Fish Market for convenience worked well. Their faults are many but steamed clams, crab cakes and harpooned swordfish were all excellent. One morning we arrived at Jake's at the 11:30 opening to get the front far-north table. It was one of those dreamy days, cloudless and dry, a postcard setting with grilled prawns, a mixed seafood grill and pecan crusted sea bass. Expensive , with two bottles of fume blanc, but reliable quality.

Off to Ramona with the good sense to shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and the front outdoor fruit/vegetable stand in La Jolla before we left. The Ramona Cafe is great for free wireless but the breakfasts sit heavily.

Thanks to all.

Ramona vicinity restaurants/provisions

We're spending a week in Ramona with several trips to the Solana Beach area.

Are there any tasty spots and/or provision options around Ramona or should we concentrate efforts near the beaches.

Any suggestions appreciated. We eat anything well-made.
