Best German food w/entertainment in Houston?

I am going to eat German food with a group of people in Houston. Most of them are into the entertainment, but I would like to suggest the place that might have the best food as well.
We need to stick to central Houston, and the only two that I know of are Old Heidelberg and Rudi Lechners, with entertainment. Any suggestions for the group? How about for me when I go merely for good German food without entertainment?

Coming to Houston - Only interested in Tex-Mex or Mexican

Pico's is certainly a unique restaurant. My favorite menu item is the chiles en nogada, a roasted poblano pepper stuffed with shredded pork (or a veggie rice option), then topped with a creamy cold walnut sauce, then sprinkled with some pomegranate (sp?) seeds. Delicious. It's a bargain at lunch, you only get one, but that's all you need, cuz they're so rich. Their chile rellenos, meat or cheese (nice mexican white cheese) are delicious, too.

Sichuan Restaurant [HOU]

Ok, let's try this again--I'm going to Sichuan Restaurant for the first time tonight. I'm saving the hot pot experience for a bigger group, looking for out-of-the-ordinary dishes to try tonight. I'm also running out of interesting Asian restaurants to try. I venture to Chinatown on the weekends, but I live in the Montrose area, and there are absolute no Chinese restaurants near home that I have found to be even acceptable for week-nights. Totally boring and Americanized. Help! We love Cali and 2 items at Van Loc, but that's it. A friend of mine recently went to Van Loc for the Bo Luc Lac and she said it was so chewy that it was inedible. I noticed they have a new (?) website and the description has been changed from Filet Mignon chunks to (I think) round steak chunks. Maybe that explains it.

Big Daddy's House, why did we watch

Did you catch the episode when he covered the pyrex dish of ribs with plastic wrap, then foil, and put it in the oven? He said it was his favorite trick. It was a trick to me alright, that the plastic wrap didn't melt during the baking process.

[HOU] Little Bitty Burger Barn steak special - pass

Good to know. I went for the first time for a burger a few weeks ago, pretty good, not terribly huge, nice charry flavor. The owner delivered it to my table and presented it to my friends to brag on the mushroom presentation. However, the mushrooms were CANNED. How do you feel about that? I think it's hokey. So it leads me to believe some other items on the menu might be hokey, i.e. the large assortment of wings.
On another subject...I signed up about 2 wks ago for the tx chowhounds on yahoo, and have yet to be 'accepted'. What does that mean? Thanks, Cindy

Asian food and markets in the Long Point area [Houston]

I'm a new Houston poster...always interested in unique cheap ethnic eats. A lunching buddy has recently moved to the Oak Forest/Pinemont area, and I told her that her Asian restaurant and market choices will probably be closest in the Long Point area. We typically have frequented the Bellaire Chinatown for years. I am familiar with Vieng Thai
(one time only though), but would like to know of some other good asian (and etc.)restaurants in that area. She would like to know the best asian grocery store with a broad range of items. Seems to me a lot of those stores were mostly Korean. Any ideas?

[HOU] Best Bahn Xeo-Bahn Cahn-Bahn Cuon [HOU]

I have enjoyed Bahn Xeo at a couple of places in the downtown Vietnamese area. Thanh An (sp) on Travis has a huge, falling off the platter sized one with generous fillings, and Van Loc on Milam has a good one. Thanh An has a typical lunch-type menu, quite limited, is fast-foody in appearance. They close every day in the afternoon, and I think on Sundays, too. Van Loc has a large menu, is open 'til all hours of the morning, and is actually quite nicely decorated and comfortable, dim lighting, and cocktails. Prices are good, though, and I always get the Bahn Xeo and Bo Luc Lac there. It can be inconsistent, but is usually great. There is a huge Vietnamese community in the southwest (bellaire blvd) area, but I live near downtown, so I frequent those most often. Good Luck!
