Please, is this all that Frednericksburg has to offer? I am planning a Sunday trip to Spotsylvania County...are there any places for a great breakfast/fantastic brunch? Should I reconsider Spotsy County? what about within 30 miles of Spotsy? HELP, please.
Coffee House with best coffee and pastries
Thanks for the suggestions...due to a delay..I actually enjoyed a great coffee at the airport at Cafe Intermezzo in councourse B...I was pleasantly suprised with a nice fresh croissant (in the airport!). Had breakfast, the biggest breakfast ever, at Two Thumbs Up in East Point. Tasty, good coffee, not a mecca for dieters! Thanks ATL

Here's my post/warning - Do not go to Gibraltar on Grove Isle. I was invited there for breakfast...it was the slowest, tasteless breakfast ever. As a guest, I limited my comments, but the breakfast hostess was apologetic and almost in tears as we left. The first course was a unseasaoned shrimp or crab cocktail or sushi. Not one flavorful item...I am sure the sushi was delivered the day before and refrigerated overnight. 30 minute later our breakfast entrees arrived. Every dish was overcooked, underseasoned, bland (I know they mean the same..just want to stress how bad it really is). Simple pancakes arrived black, medium steaks were the same. As we prepared to leave the table, the manager approached but we walked away to allow the hostess to settle the issue with the manager. It is such a waste of a beautiful space! We should have known it was awful...the restaurant was empty on a Sunday morning! I have been to this restaurant when it was Baleen. I recall a very good breakfast experience. Things have really changed and not for the better.

Not worth my time to return. But I have spoken to the manager about my concerns. I learned that I'm blessed to have that money without needing it immediately. Integrity is an internal characteristic that the waitress did not have.

THIS WAS MY POINT OF CONTENTION - why didn't the waitress tell me about this mistake . Regardless to the use of a debit or credit card, why not tell the consumer. I gave her a tip...I think I want it back.

I am asking for your opinion: Lunch at a less than memorable establishment with great friends that we have not seen for months. Friendship made the meal tolerable. I paid the check and add a generous tip. About 2-3 hours later, I happened to check my bank account. The bill which was $96.53 was withdrawn and a second withdrawal for $965.33. Certainly, I believed this to be a mistake that could be corrected by a simple review of the receipts from the last few hours and a quick chargeback. NOPE. After speaking to two managers at the restaurant, I learned that the waitress knew she made the error but decided not to tell me or bring me a copy of the voided charge. I have spent the last 24 hours attempting to have my monies redeposit into my account. I have spoken to 4-5 bank associates and the last person realized that this is crazy and put the money back on my account. I lost several hours on the phone, missed dinner plans, late to a play (that I thankfully paid for prior to this), late to morning meetings because I'm on hold with the bank, and stressed!! The whole incident left a bad taste in my mouth (and the food was not good enough for a return visit anyway) and enough anxiety to decrease my life expectancy by 1 month. What would you do at this point?

Tried Vidalia's tasting menu at lunch last week - app, ent, dess= 20.00. It was great. Also had a mint julep. Going back as soon as I can. Our waiter, Moses, provided exceptional service even though we were not eating at full price.

Go to the church on 6th NW- daddy grace's church - the cafeteria has the best soul food. Take the Mt Vernon metro. When you get there, you will will understand.
And go to Suitland, MD - Food for Life 4929 Suitland Road. Get the fish, the lemon cake, the greens, the navy bean soup (OMG), etc.

Thanks to everyone. There appears to be some limitations on dining in that area, but, I had the best soul food lunch at the From the Heart Church Ministries. I have not eaten soul food like that since I left the south. It was excellent from the mac and cheese to the cornbread that was about three inches high to the peach cobbler with layers of buttery crust. I don't want to push church on anyone, but the meal is worth it. Thanks Philly!!

Going to a play at this spot: The Vagabond Players is located at the foot of historic Fells Point in downtown Baltimore at 806 S. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231. We have never been to the area.
