Suggestions for Thom Thom?

I went to Thom Thom a few years ago but I don't remember anything about it. I do remember liking it, but that's about all. I will be there tomorrow night and was wondering if anyone could recommend specifics from the menu. Is there anything they do really well in particular? Thanks in advance.

what is your favorite Manhattan pizza joint

Yes, I believe the one in Brooklyn came first but I've only been to the one on the UES.

West Village - seeking sexy, subtle lighting, good for conversation and, of course, great food

La Lanterna is uber romantic.

Corton, wd-50 or Lincoln Ristorante?

I seem to be in the minority here but I did NOT enjoy WD 50. I found it to be overpriced and underwhelming. I did NOT like the food and I get that you're actually just paying for the molecular gastronomy experience but I found the actual quality of the food to be mediocre at best. I went with 5 other people (most of us NYers) and the opinion was unanimous.

Tottonos on the UES.

Blue Ribbon (What am I missing?!)

After years of eagerly awaiting an opportunity to try Blue Ribbon, I decided to take my bf last night for his birthday. He had wanted to go for quite some time but we had always put it off because of the long wait times. Last night was our first (and only) foray into the illustrious world of blue ribbon dining. The bf had been eagerly anticipating the marrow (which EVERYONE says to get) with oxtail marmalade. He LOVED it. it was truly the one high point of the meal for both of us. We also ordered the cheese fondue which we both found to be disappointing. The cheese was the wrong texture and kept separating. It tasted okay but was nothing special. (Note: for amazing fondue, check out Kashkaval. That place is substantially more affordable and will elicit a cheese orgasm every time.) I found it to be rather bland. For an entree, the bf ordered skate and was HIGHLY dissatisfied. I had tasted skate previously at WD50 and while I didn't really love that place, I thought the skate was delicious there. He (the bf) had never tried skate previously but found it to be dried out and bland. I tasted it and thought the same. I ordered the duck club. My love of duck is facilitated by the usual unctiousness of the duck and the crispiness of the skin. Alas, when my sandwich arrived, the duck was not only sans skin (and a wee bit on the dry side) but it was sliced superthin like turkey (thinner than turkey in a kosher style deli). This left the sandwich devoid of duck flavor. The rest of the sandwich was okay (it was served on raisin bread. I understand that choice based on the duck/fruit paring, but I would have prefered bread of a different variety). In addition to our disappointment with the quality of the food, the service took FOREVER (which is odd because the restaurant only seats 50) and it was SO hot in there that the whole experience was less than stellar. Can someone who loves this place (I know there are many of you) please clue me in to what I'm missing?

Lobster in suffolk county

Thanks; I'll check it out.

Lobster in suffolk county

My bf has been jonsing for King Crab legs and I have been jonsing for Lobster for the past week. We will be spending the weekend in Holtsville (I'm fairly unfamiliar with the area but he knows it better than I do). I realize that Lobster and King crab legs are never cheap but are there any good and reasonably priced places that feature these two items near the area (Patchouge, smithtown, stony brooke, sayville, haphague, ronkonkoma...any of those places are close). We're totally open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Bad Bob's in Port Washington

I did wind up going and we hated it. It was beyond mediocre there were way more negatives than positives. Where is Swingbelly's? I appreciate the suggestion. (I am a fan of harbor q)

Bad Bob's in Port Washington

My boyfriend is jonsing for bbq and because we're catching a movie in Great Neck tonight we don't want to wander too far. We've been to harbor Q and really liked it but we noticed another bbq place in port recently (bad bob's) and were wondering if anyone has been there and whether or not they'd recommend it. Has anyone been to Bad Bob's in Port?

Heritage of India (New Hyde Park)

HAHA! Good thread. I wish I could help but alas I am also at a loss in those situations. It's so awkward and I tend to become overly polite as a compensatory strategy.

Heritage of India (New Hyde Park)

My boyfriend and I tried Heritage last night. We typically go to Santoor in Glen Oaks (which never disappoints) but had heard through the grapevine that Heritige was pretty fantastic and thus decided to give it a shot. The first thing we noticed was that the waiter was not only not particularly friendly, but that he took a good 20 minutes to come to our table and take our order. (this was odd since there were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant.) Eventually when he did take our order, I'd say we were waiting for our food to arrive for a good 45 minutes. When the food did get to the table, it was NOT what we had ordered. Because he did not once come to our table to ask if everything was okay, we had to flag him down like a cab during rush our traffic in midtown during a thunder storm to tell him that we received the wrong food. HE insisted it WAS what we had ordered and because we were starving and didn't feel like waiting for antoher hour, we ate it. One of the entrees (the chicken Mahkni despite the fact that we had ordered Korma) was good and the other dish (something the waiter CLAIMED was vindaloo but did not resemble vidaloo in any way shape or form) was sub par. The raita (which we had ordered but had to remind the waiter several times to bring) tasted rancid as if it had turned and the rice was bland and contained no flavor whatsoever. After the waiter took our plates, we waited another 30 minutes until he finally brought the check and we could not get the hell out of that place fast enough. I can honestly say in my entire life I had NEVER not tipped in a restaurant until last night.

Inexpensive Italian takeout near Bayside?

I like cascarinos (there is one on Bell Blvd but the one on College Point is better). The food there is pretty decent. Roma Pizza on Bell is also pretty good (they're new) for inexpensive pizza and basic pizza place style italian (or greek. It's greek owned).

Barbeque on Long Island??

My boyfriend is jonsing for barbecue tonight and the only places I know of are in the city and he wants to stay on Long Island. Does anyone have any ideas? I've never been to Famous Daves but he apparently hates that place. Any insights would be much appreciated.
