Best Octopus in Manhattan?

Periyali has a delicious version and bar stuzzi also has a good appetizer version!

What's good for dinner these days? Anything in the Union Station/Capitol Hill area?

Hey, Thanks for all the great suggestions! Sorry to hear about Restaurant Nora but glad for the information. Johnny's Half Shell and Chesapeake Room are new to me so will definitely check those out!

What's good for dinner these days? Anything in the Union Station/Capitol Hill area?

Looking for a nice dinner one Saturday evening in September. We enjoy good food. Probably like to keep it in the $50 pp vicinity. Live in NY so used to a variety and open to types of cuisine. Wondering about jose andres places and anything else that might be a good find. Willing to travel a bit as well for a good place. Is Restaurant Nora still good?

Tx!

Spigolo, 2nd at 81st....definitely need a reservation; great food!

BLT Steak vs BLT Prime

Hey..thanks for both reviews...very helpful! Definitely going for Prime; will post back and let you know how it is. Thanks again!!

BLT Steak vs BLT Prime

My mouth is watering! Blue cheese tater tots, creamed spinach, sundaes...I think I need to make a reservation asap. Thanks for the suggestions!!

BLT Steak vs BLT Prime

That's great to know; dry aging makes all the difference and the ribeye is the best cut imho. I think Prime is the one to try.

BLT Steak vs BLT Prime

Wondering if anyone has an opinion between these 2? I have not been to either and am definitely interested in giving one of them a try. The menus look similar so would love to know how they compare.....am a big fan of Peter Lugar's and Strip House and want to expand my horizons!
Thanks!

One weekend only in NYC, help!

For steak, I have to add Strip House. Italian, Convivio. American, if you feel like Upper West Side, Ouest is a good option. 11 Madison also very good but probably a little more expensive. Enjoy!

Barbecue in Manhattan for a group

Thanks for the great suggestions. Will check out Daisy Mays and Rubb....both sound like good options!

Barbecue in Manhattan for a group

Hi
I'm looking for a good place to take a group (20-25 people) for a birthday celebration...am thinking barbecue and would appreciate any thoughts....other suggestions regarding places that are good for a group and won't break the bank also appreciated (I'm thinking $30-40 a head). Thanks!

Tuaca Italian Liqour

I've seen it in Manhattan at McCabes, 77th and 3rd; also at Vintage Grape 3rd ave around 84th...

Sunday morning near 48th and Broadway

All sound good! I forgot about Vinyl which has a range of options so that might be good. WIll also check out the other suggestions. Thanks all!

Sunday morning near 48th and Broadway

Hi
A very old friend of mine and her college age son will be in town and between music auditions (his) on Sunday, 2/1. They will be at 48th and Broadway area around 11 and we are going to meet up for a not-too-expensive but (hopefully) decent meal. Open to any type of food. Any thoughts on someplace not too touristy and not too long of a wait on a Sunday morning would be welcome.
Thanks!

looking for Italian to die for

I don't know if they would have your specific requests but Perbacco is really good food in a casual, kind of funky atmosphere. Also very good and may have a menu you would like, is Stuzichinni (sp?) on Broadway around 22nd. More upscale is Convivio;really good and worth checking out the menu to see if you would like it.

Help shape a memorable evening on short notice?

1) Lobby bar at Mandarin Oriental
2) Ouest

4) Zabar's or H&H Bagels

Citarella's Turkey Gravy

I haven't tried Citarella's gravy but I did buy some from Eli's this year, against my better judgement as it was quite expensive!...but I just didn't have the wherewithal to make it. I have to say it was really excellent with perfect consistency and a real depth of flavor. I would definitely buy it again...and probably will...!

Perfect way to end the day

Have to second the Lounge in the Mandarin if you are in the mood for an upscale cocktail (they also have nice nibbles!). Also really like Casellula on 52nd and 9th I think. Wine bar with light food; very enjoyable, casual atmosphere.

Best pastries in UES?

Have to second Lady M's....everything is delicious and you can get slices of the mille crepes among other things!

Szechaun Kitchen on 1st ave at 79th

Tried it on Saturday night. Chicken with peanuts was good but will follow the suggestion and ask for more spice next time. LOVED the eggplant! Will definitely order again. Thanks for the help!

Szechaun Kitchen on 1st ave at 79th

Thanks for your feedback; definitely sounds worth trying. I'll let you know how it goes!

Szechaun Kitchen on 1st ave at 79th

Thanks; I'm familiar with Our Place and agree that it's good; just hoping for another option!

Szechaun Kitchen on 1st ave at 79th

I am curious if anyone knows this place? It's take out or delivery only; apparently they've been around since '74. It's very close to my pat and I love szechaun cooking so would be great if it gets a thumbs up from any chowhounds.

3 Dinners in NYC

I think a great drink and snack experience is the Lobby Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental...interesting food, great cocktails and awesome view of Central Park. I'm a big fan of Ouest on the Upper West Side....it's maybe a bit under the radar but has a great vibe and really delicious food!

best steak restaraunt in manhattan

Haven't been to a lot of these but second Strip House!

Any go-to places in Georgetown for dinner?

Just back from D.C. Had a great meal at Mendocino Grill....lamb carpaccio appetizer was delicious as was the branzino....pan fried and crispy! My partner had the rabbit pate which was wonderful and the wagyu beef which was also very good...the potatoes with it were fabulous; I have no idea what they did to them. Shared the apple beignets which were perfect....crispy, not too much dough, great filling and a wonderful creme fraiche ice cream. Service was attentive and overall thought it was a really great recommendation so thanks to all!!! Also had a dinner in the Lounge at Citronelle....mushroom cigars were good but the smoked salmon was outstanding....a generous portion of the most lightly smoked, luscious salmon I can not tell you! Grilled bread, etc were perfect with it. Lamb burger also very good but I wasn't in love with the fries....the server said they were cooked in butter; not sure of that but they had an odd aftertaste and were hard on the digestion. Overall, an enjoyable meal but not overwhelming aside from the smoked salmon...I would go back just for that and a good cocktail! 3rd night we went to Clyde's in Georgetown....it was just what you'd expect but I have to say the asian style mussel appetizer was really good. Thanks again to all for your suggestions! Had a really enjoyable weekend and a couple of great meals.

2nd date between 40th and 20th, East Side

Artisanal might be nice...it's a brasserie type feel so not too romantic but the food is delicious imho!

Any go-to places in Georgetown for dinner?

Dupont area is good; I'll check it out. Thanks!
