Paesano's Roast Suckling Pig Sandwich

OMG I just went to Girard Avenue between 2nd and Front in Phila and had the most amazing sandwich of my life. It was the "artista" (roast suckling pig, broccoli rabe, long hots and sharp provolone) at Paesano's ,the luncheonette opened by the people at Modo Mio the terrific tuscan restaurant across the street. There are about 6 counter seats so if you are going to eat there you need to be patient ,but it seemed as though they were doing a brisk take-out business. I have had the roast pork at Tony Lukes, DiNics and Johns and this blew them all away. You can also get a side of roasted potatoes cooked in Duck fat for $2. Your doctor might not be to happy about it ,but the flavor was incredible. There are 4 or 5 other sandwiches on the menu and they all look fantastic. Web site is attached to Modo Mio's . Please don't go to often as it was hard enough to get a seat as is.

Stay away from Myrna's Cafe in Blue Bell

We used to go there all the time when it was in jenkintown and it was really good. We went one time to blue bell and it was terrible. We have not been back since.

Assi Market food court is a real find!

I go to the market and food court at least once a week and leave there giddy!! That place is awesome. The fish and produce at the market are so fresh and the prices can't be beat. The food at the food court is also great ,but I would stick to what they are good at which is the Korean specialties and no frills sushi. Don't order Chinese or Mexican items (they actually sell mexican food at one of the Korean stands).

Moustache- Middle Eastern in Lambertville

We had Hummus, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, middle eastern pita pizza (with ground lamb and veggies) and chicken schwarma ,which were all tasty. They bake fresh pitas that come out puffed up like a balloon because they are filled with steam. My wife found the falafel to be on the dry side, but I think falafel is kinda dry by nature. I just make sure to dip the falafel well before I eat it. The grape leaves were stuffed with rice and were served warm which really grew on me as I ate them. They had many kinds of kabobs that looked good also.

Moustache- Middle Eastern in Lambertville

My Wife and Daughter and I tried Moustache a great new middle eastern restaurant in Lambertville NJ last night. The food was really good, prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was cool. It is a byob across the street from the inn of the hawk and is open 7 days a week from 11am to midnight. If you live in Central Bucks or Hunterdon Co. NJ and like middle eastern food I highly recommend it. We have such a void of good ethnic food in that area that when we get a good one we really need to support it.

Road trip w/ 2 day stop in Philly. Need suggestions!

You can take your kids to Vietnam, Dimitri's or Buddakahn. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to hang at the bar across the street from Dimitri's if you were waiting for a table and Buddakahn is a little fancy to take children all the time ,but we have taken our 6 yr old daughter to all of them. The question is "will the kids eat the food?" Vietnam has the best wonton soup and our daughter loves the spring rolls and noodle dishes. You may have a harder time at Dimitri's as their menu is fish and seafood oriented and the menu is limited. Buddakahn would be good early (which may be the only time you can get in anyway). Later it develops a bigger bar scene which might not be "kid friendly" Buddakahn is a Stephen Starr restaurant and its menu is on the internet.

Road trip w/ 2 day stop in Philly. Need suggestions!

If you like ethnic you have to try Vietnam Restaurant on 11th street between Race and Vine in Chinatown.. It is a 5 minute cab ride. Amazing fresh food which is very reasonably priced and nice atmoshere. Another Phila favorite is Dimitri's on 3rd street in Queens Village, a few blocks off of South Street. Fresh fish and Mediterranean inspired cuisine. It is a small BYOB where they will come get you in the bar across the street if there is a wait. Tons of great upscale places in Phila also, but every time I have visitors in from other cities they want to go to those 2 places. They are unique and Phila ethnic traditions.

Kosher style delis anywhere near the Lehigh Valley???

Pumpernicks Deli on RT309 in Montgomeryville is your only hope. It is the best Jewish Deli within 45 minutes of Allentown. Not far off of Lansdale exit of turnpike or straight shot down RT 309 South

Anyone try Pennsylvania Soup and Seafood House in Doylestown recently?

The soups are great and they have 7 or 8 of them everyday. The burgers are good too.

Help with dinner in New Hope/Lambertville!

All of the places you listed are good . Lily's has a lively funky vibe and is consistently good. Manon has a neat rustic french bistro atmosphere and has good french food. I really like the food at NO.9 ,but atmosphere is not as nice as the other 2. If you do go to Lambertville I would definitely go to the boathouse bar in the courtyard where Hamilton's grill is. It is a quaint little bar with after dinner type drinks (fine scotches ,wines etc.) and is a special romantic place.

Any good sushi places around Ambler, PA?

Blue Fin in plymouth meeting area (15-20 minutes from ambler) is great! It is past PM Mall on Germantown pike going west in a little strip center. It may be considered E. Norriton there.

Grocery Stores - Doylestown Area

WEGMANS!!!!!!!!!!!! Much better store than McCafferys. For Italian specialty items ,meats and prepared foods go to Altomontes in warminster (smaller store in doylestown ,but go to original). None Such Farms in buckingham has great meat and grow a lot of their own produce (a little pricey ,but quality) Solebury Orchards for fruits and veggies ,especially in the summer and Hellers Seafood in Warrington for fish.

Saigon @ Main open at last!!!!

I just happen to have the menu in my coat pocket. We got the combo appitizer platter which is listed as #1 (spring rolls, grilled meatballs and grilled beef in grape leaves) You could also order them seperately. We had an order of summer rolls#3, which are the non- fried cold rolls with shrimp and pork . For soup we had #18 roasted pork, wonton ,egg noodles and greens And we also had #31 which is grilled pork chop. All of the dishes were good. Word of caution, the fried spring rolls and vietnamese food in general is better fresh than take-out. I still take it out though and have found that heating the fried spring rolls in the oven at high temp for a few minutes crisps them up. Good Luck

Saigon @ Main open at last!!!!

I went to Saigon last night w/ my wife and daughter and we really enjoyed it. We have been eating vietnamese food for years and frequent the best in the area which are Vietnam in Phila and Little Saigon in Atlantic City. While it is not on the same level as those places the food was good, the service was pleasant and the space was modern and clean. We live in Bucks Co near Doylestown and we will be eating there often.

Heart of Oak pub below Baci in Buckingham is the place for you. Great pub food and you can order from the northern Italian menu upstairs. Great atmoshere and staff. Building is from 1700's so it is really unique. My family goes there all the time and whenever we bring friends they love it.

Bucks County recommendations?

Hamilton's Grill (byob) in Lambertville is romantic, unique and funky plus the boathouse bar across the courtyard is totally cool and romantic. My wife and I have been going there since we met 13 years ago and it seems just as romantic of a night every time we go. I would stick with the grilled items as that is there specialty. When you walk into the place there is an open grill with a 6 seat counter where diners can watch the chef grilling their dinner. If you love food and cooking, there is not a better seat around. My wife and I always ask for seats at the counter and it never gets old.

Dinner suggestions near Southampton or Feasterville.

City Kitchen is a new place in the old Maggio's space. We have been there a few times and it was very good. Casual atmosphere ,byob and neat decor. Italian food and specialty pizzas are there thing. web site is www.citykitchenpizzeria@comcast.net. Also, in richboro there are several good places ,but my favorite is Francescas Trattoria in Mallard creek shopping center. Great italian byob around 5 minutes from both Southampton and Feasterville. If your looking for something a little more happening with a bar there is patagonia grill in richboro across the street from mallard creek shopping center. South american flare with a cool bar scene. Web site is www.patagoniabarandgrill.com .Owners are from cafe con leche in newtown.

Doylestown

Smokin Lils has the most incredible ribs and their brisket and cornbread are good too. If getting take-out I would not order sides as they were really expensive. The ribs and platters were very reasonably priced.

Taqueria La Morena in Hatboro

I have been there many times under both ownerships and it is a very good ,authentic taqueria. The last 2 times I have been there the tacos were great. It is also very easy to find. It is right off of RT263 (york rd) on Moreland Rd. If you are driving south on RT263 from county line rd toward willow grove , you make a left on moreland and it is 50 yards up on your left.

Good chow near Langhorne

3 great places w/in 5 minutes. All are byob and kid friendly. Duck Sauce 215-860-8873, great chinese, Oishi 215-860-5511, great sushi and habachi and Piccolo Trattoria 215-860-5511 for italian. My favorite is Oishi, which has the freshest fish in bucks co and has a beautiful space. They also have a nice room filled w/ habachi grills which non foodies and kids would still love. Be sure to make a reservation as they are mobbed.

Need info on Oven Indian Rest in Bensalem

I use to eat lunch there once a week until I changed jobs in july. I have only had there buffet lunch, but it was better than I expected. I would try it at night if I were you so you can taste dishes that are prepared when ordered instead of the typical buffet items. Good Luck

What is the big to-do about Duck Deli?

They do take credit cards. The ribs and brisket are a must.It was more of a memphis style which I like. The sides were good ,but were a little expensive. Corn bread was also great.
