Mother's Day Champagne Brunch - Media / Chadds Ford / West Chester Greetings Chowhounds, Any recs for a nice place for Mother's Day champagne brunch in Media / Concordville / Glen Mills / West Chester / Chadds Ford? Can be order-from-menu or buffet. I know about the Concordville Inn. Looking for a place with a little flair, but barring that would appreciate any recommendations. Prefer a place with a liquor license but would consider byob. Thanks so much! |

Pumpkin Martinis - or other fall specialty drinks - in Media At Stephen's we only had a few apps and moved on to Azie for dinner, but the apps were decent. Had philly cheesesteak egg rolls and I forget the other one! I'd give them a B+/A-. |

Pumpkin Martinis - or other fall specialty drinks - in Media I called a bunch of Media restaurants on 10/8 and was lucky to get the owner of Stephen's on State on the phone - they went out and bought the fixin's and had two recipes to choose from by the time we arrived! They were delicious, and I imagine they'll be making them all during the fall season, if anyone's interested. Thanks laurachohenromano & jessicheese, I appreciate the info! |

Pumpkin Martinis - or other fall specialty drinks - in Media Greetings Chowhounds, We've found good ones in Center City and on the Main Line but need to stick to the Media area for this outing. Thanks! |

I had the same experience, dapchef. I went last year based on LeBan's rave review, and was pretty disappointed. Ordered soup (tomato bisque I think), mac & cheese and shrimp po boy. Soup was ok, mac & cheese completely unremarkable and po boy downright bad (and, as you say, very skimpy on the ingredients). I don't get the hoopla. |

Back from our visit - thanks Chowhounds for your recommendations. We didn't have time to visit all of the places we wanted -- guess we'll have to return sometime soon to remedy that! We made it to Brassiere Ten Ten, Barcaro and T-Zero for happy hours, Walnut Street Brew Pub for quick dinner (not on the list, but chosen for non-foodie friend), Centro for drinks & apps, Jax (twice!) for dinner (first time there was seating only at the bar and we had so much fun doing it that way we went back two nights later), Cascades Restaurant at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park for lunch (did not go to Golden after all). Tried to hit Luciles' in Fort Collins before rafting trip but the wait was too long. I think Jax and T-Zero were our favorites. Thanks again, Chowhounds. We do want to visit again so we can attempt to exhaust our list. Fine dining will definitely be on the agenda next time! |

Thanks so much Claire. I really appreciate your thoughtful response and am excited to try some of the places you recommend. I discovered your blog recently and am enjoying it a lot (planning a move to Boulder sometime soon). I wonder if you would know of, or know how to find, restaurants along part of the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway? ( http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/... ) We'll be driving from Boulder to around Nederland down to Golden then back up to Boulder -- on a weekday -- and are researching a nice place to have lunch (we would not complain if it included a nice glass of wine :)) Hope this is not overkill, but you seem pretty plugged into the foodie scene in your area and I'm coming up empty. Thanks! Karen |

Thanks so much, I'm headed to Total Wine this weekend. |

Thanks, Boognish & Bigley9, great suggestions. Philly Ray-- I did see chocolate Oscars on Amazon though I doubt they're "official." They're always sold out, so maybe they're illegal? Or maybe just popular :) .... I go through this every year, you would think I'd have a system by now! Hoping I can find the Piper Sonoma in DE this weekend.... |

Hi Chowhounders, -- chocolate Oscar statuette (or for that matter, any mini Oscar statuettes?) And while we're on the subject, if you have any favorite Oscar menu ideas, please pass them along. Thanks! |

50th B'day dinner with "the girls" You might consider checking out Les Bons Temps (12/Sansom). They have a room upstairs with great atmosphere (I know a separate room isn't a must but I thought I'd mention it) and imo the food is fabulous. |

Breakfast idea after PHL airport drop off? You might try Sabrina's (9-10/Christian). Fabulous breakfast. I take out-of-town friends there and they always have trouble deciding what to order b/c everything sounds so good. It's standard breakfast but with a slight creative twist. Large portions and good coffee. |

Food and service terrible, and I have given it several tries. Now will NEVER go back. During last visit, server cleared dinner plates and never came back. About half an hour later, her colleague (a different server) arrived with the check. We wanted coffee and dessert. Server visibly pissed off. I ordered a decaf and was told it had just been dumped out. I (very pleasantly) asked her to make a new pot. Got attitude. A minute later, original server shows up with a cup of REGULAR coffee, which I watched her pour from across the room. She tells me it's decaf. No, the restaurant was not closed, we were not camping, and we were not the only customers there. The place sucks. |
