Visiting L.A. / Santa Monica for 1 day from Chicago, What is a MUST eat.

Thanks for the recommendations! I will look into those. Are there are dishes or specialties that are well know in the L.A. area that you cant get anywhere else?

Visiting L.A. / Santa Monica for 1 day from Chicago, What is a MUST eat.

Hello all,

The wife and I will be driving from Vegas to L.A. / Hollywood / Santa Monica for one day (Next Sunday) and are looking for some MUST eats. We live in Chicago and enjoy the diverse ethnic foods on a daily basis and we are looking for some must eat places we shouldn't miss. We definitely want something we can get back home or something that Cali does better than Chicago.

Obviously we are on a budget and cant afford the 3-4 star places on this short trip. Lunch and Dinner REQ's would be best.

Thanks Everyone!

Mike

Looking for Saturday night seafood REQ - Roy's?

Hello,

Ill be in NY (midtown Manhattan)this Thursday through sunday and pretty much have all our meals planned already. For saturday night we wanted a decent but not too expensive seafood restaurant.
Right now we have reservations at Roy's. We wanted a place that just wasn't seafood but makes dishes a little different or with a different twist.

Is Roy's a good choice to stick with? Any other place i should look into and can i get a reservation for this saturday there.

Thanks.

Chicagoan coming to NY - Where's a must eat?

Hello all,

I'll be flying into NY on thurday Aug 14 and ill be there untill Sunday morning and im looking for some food rec's. I'm a food junky and experience most of what Chicago has to offer so what im looking for in NY/Manhattan is something that i CANT find in Chicago.

I will be on a budget so probably no 4 star places, im not bringing formal attire with me either. The food is more important to me than the ambiance. Killer Italian? Pizza? Etc...

Where should i go that will leave my first trip to NY memorable. I'll be staying around midtown and will be taking the train around.

Thanks!

Will be at Museum of Science/Industry - Lunch Suggestions??

The wife and I will be down at the museum of science and industry tomorrow morning/afternoon and would like some suggestions for lunch. Nothing fancy of course since we will be in casual attire but i'd like to try a place that WOW's us. We are open to all suggestions from fast food, dine in, carry out, ect.... We are willing to drive a little as well so it doesnt have to be right around the museum.
We are coming from the far NW suburbs so we will have to go through the city to get back home anyway.

Suggestions?

Looking for authentic Italian Sub in NW Burbs

Hey all,

I've lived in the chicago area my whole like (just moved out of the city 4 years ago) and my quest for an authentic Italian sub has failed me. When i lived in the city, i grew up just 1 block from a place called Aldo's (on grand ave, just west of central) and i truely beleived they had the BEST sub i've ever had. They eventually sold and closed shop about 4 years ago and i have yet to find anything in the same league.

What im looking for is a real sub. A good 8" at least with FRESH french bread, fresh meats layered by hand, and the oil and vineger has to be homemade and make the sandwhich. No chain could ever come close to this.

Is there any place in the NW burbs or even north burbs that could end my quest?
