I made one the other day and it was so good...
Sarasota Barbecue
Hello: I will be back in Sarasota January 11th and I'm just looking for an update. Is Nancy's BBQ up and running? Also where is the best roadside BBQ these days? Or if there is another joint that's great please let me know.
ISO Fatty Pork for traditional French Canadian tourtière
If you have a meat grinder you could grind up pork belly. If not I would think any butcher would do that for you? Or you could even hand dice some belly into your groud pork.
Caterers in Muskoka
What part of Muskoka are you hosting the dinner and what type of party is it. Elegant or casual?
C'est La Vie-Sarasota-Best bread in south west florida
Good call on the croque madame. I had this while I was there and enjoyed it. Great French vibe that takes you away from Sarasota for a brief moment. I'll be back in town April 2nd and I plan on stopping in during the week.

Has anyone been into Oak Open Pit BBQ?

Sarasota Barbecue
Can anyone refer me to some BBQ joints in the Sarasota area? My only criteria is great BBQ. I don't care about price, service or decor.
Atlanta Barbecue Near Airport
Hello:
I have a short layover in Atlanta and would love to sample some local BBQ. Can Anyone suggest a great BBQ joint near the airport?
Shawarmas in Toronto
I love the shawarma at Pita Land (4901 Steeles Avenue West) It's like crack and probably just as good for you. I can't imagine what would happen if I were to have a "real" shawarma. Thank God it's hard to find the white meat variety in TO.
Charcoal Restaurants of Ontario.
I would love to see a list of restaurants in Ontario that use charcoal/wood to cook their food. If this has been covered please post a link for me. Some that come to mind...
Last time I was in Barberian's Steakhouse and Tavern they use charcoal to cook my steak.

Any others that you can think of would be appreciated
Heirloom tomato seedlings
I had to start mine from seeds available at the Home Depot. They were easy to start in peat pucks if you want to do it the old fashion way.
Passover Coke
I purchased a Caribbean made coke at Island Food Market at 3432 Weston Road and noted to my wife that it tasted different then North American Coke. She thought I was dreaming. After reading this thread I’m wondering if it’s because they use real sugar. I wonder if Caribbean Coke is suitable for Passover? In any case it does taste better then North American Coke.

I currently have Napoleon and like it very much. One cool thing with the Napoleon is that you can get a charcoal insert. This is great for adding charcoal flavor to chickens, steaks, burgers ect. My mom had a Broil King so I have quite a bit of experience with that grill and I like them as well. I love my Weber kettle but I found my brothers gas grill doesn’t provide even heat. It can take a few sessions to figure out where all the hot and cold spots are.
Beer Spots in Montreal
Hello:
I’m visiting Montreal on Thursday. Could you please give me the names of pubs/bars with an extensive beer list? Ones that feature beers of Quebec would be appreciated. I’m also interested in microbreweries and brewpubs. I’m staying at the W hotel but I’m willing to travel around the city.
Thanks a lot.
Anyone attending Barrielicious this year?
My wife and I tried to get in to Michael and Marion’s this Friday but there was no availability in their main dinning room. They were able to seat us in The Side Door which is attached. I’m not really sure of the difference? I hope it’s the same menu. I guess I’ll find out when I get there.
Dried peppers
You can try Perola's (247 Augusta Avenue (416) 593-9728)
in Kensington market. They do have a variety of dried chilies that are sold in bulk.
I can’t verify if they have New Mexico
where to chow in muskoka?
You can try the Riverwalk in Bracebridge www.riverwalkmuskoka.com or Taboo in Gravenhurst www.tabooresort.com Both are great spots. Taboo has a spectacular view overlooking the lake but if you go after dark you will not get to enjoy it. I have some pictures that I took last week of the food and restaurant so if your interested I can post them.
Duck Fat
FYI. I was just doing a bit of research on this subject. King Cole Ducks Limited is a local duck producer (www.kingcoleducks.com). You may have see their products at A&P, Loblaws, Sobeys ect. They will sell unrendered duck fat to the public from their facility at a price of $15/Kg. Hours are 8am – 4:30pm and 7am – 2pm on Saturdays.
Duck Fat
I would like to make duck confit at home. Does anyone know where to buy duck fat in the GTA?
The Burger Pit - by far the best burger on way to cottage
The Burger Pit does have a great burger. Quite a few years ago there used to be a burger joint at the same location called Dino’s Burger Pit. I’m not sure if the current owner is related to Dino. The only thing I can say for Weber’s is that they grill over charcoal. Unfortunately the amount of time their paper thin burgers stay on the grill doesn’t allow the meat permeate the charcoal flavor. Also try Barrie Burger. The 157 Essa Road location is just off the highway. Their bacon burger is spectacular. They don’t use strips of bacon they use nice smoky back bacon. If you want to kick it up notch ask the grill jockey to put an egg over easy on top. The restaurant is licensed so if you can’t wait to get to the cottage you can crack into a few beers there
