Second Hungry Cat- especially the cocktails. If they still have the kumquat martini....ohhhh god it's amazing....the place is very Cali!! I also love the Tasting Kitchen in Venice- great cocktails as well as wine, but make a rez NOW!!! Also check out Oscars on Rose in Venice...I love the ambiance, especially with these warm nights we've been having...
Fun Unique Birthday Dinner
There's a Thai place called (I think) Palms or something- they have a Thai Elvis.
Where is THE best Panna Cotta in greater Los Angeles or Orange County?
Thinking back, the tangerine panna cotta was definitely a special of the night. It was goooood.

Man, do I love panna cotta. Hungry Cat has a great one, but the best I've had was at a place called Mosti in Marina del Rey, on Washington. it was a tangerine panna cotta-but I think it was seasonal.
How do you Fage?
I love Fage. I get the plain one, and stir in honey and pomegranate seeds. Or fresh berries. Yum!!!!
Poll: Would you eat a dog
OMG NO!!!!! I have two pups and would never order dog off a menu!!! That being said, though, if there was some crazy nuclear war I'd be the first to throw my Frenchie on a spit.
In desparate search for the most MILD buffalo sauce available in a bottle!!!
Yeah, thanks. Ketchup it's not. I don't think it's too crazy- love buffalo sauce, don't love the heat. Franks does make a great one, and if i don't find a milder one, I will continue to use that or the one I have been using. But if anyone knows of a MILDER BUFFALO SAUCE, as my post is asking for, please let me know. If you want to be cute and suggest mustard, mayo or any other condiment, please dont waste your time.

Buffalo sauce is very vinegery and, usually, very spicy. Totally different from BBQ sauce, which I love equally.

I just realized how many words I spelled wrong. Oops!!

All right, desprate is probably stretching it. But i do love wing sauce. And i am the biggest wimp when it comes to spice. The last few years Ive been buying Ralphs brand mild wing sauce (i think its Krogers elsewhere?) and wile it's pretty good, i would prefer it to be milder still. Anyone know of one id like? Id be willing to order online. Thanks!!!
Need a good date restaurant
I would go for Fig in the Fairmony Miramar Hotel off Wilshire and Ocean (or 2nd, I forget). They do a GREAT happy hour with everything half off from 5-6, it's all small plates, very cute around the pool, and I'll bet you could get in and out for WAY under your budget (providing that you go at happy hour). Oh, and the foods great!!
NEED VEGAN RESTAURANT ON WESTSIDE
If perhaps you want to expand that to raw as well, Leaf on Washington in Mar Vista/Culver City area is great, and I'm neither vegan or eat raw. But beware, their chocolate rasberry cheesecake is AMAZING, unfortunitly it's also probably 5000 calories... :(
Anniversary weekend at St Regis Monarch Beach
Ha! Just spent a long weekend there as well-wouldn't be surprised if it was the same weekend! I thought Stonehill Tavern was great, as well as the poolside noshes, but the most romantic night was my SO and I ordering room service and a bottle of wine. Hope you had as much fun as we did!! (And no, I didn't mean that in some weird pervy way!)

Westside Breakfast
Hi! I just moved to MDR, and am looking for a breakfast place like my old haunts in Hollywood. There are plenty of greasy spoons out here, but I'd like to find something like La Conversation, Susina Bakery, even Blue Jam. Something with quiche, omelets with goat cheese, and amazing croissants on the menu. I'm sick of Noahs bagels. And yes, I've already been to Gjelina for brunch, and while it is pretty good, it's not totally what I'm looking for. Santa Monica and Mar Vista are about as far as I want to drive, but I would be stoked to find something in Venice. Thanks!!

Has anyone ever made those black bean brownies or chocolate cake?
Actually, I just looked it up-it is the same recipe :)
TRUFFLE OIL WHY USE IT???
My SO and I just had this conversation yesterday-I like truffle oil, but only very occasionally, and only on certain things (specialty pastas, white pizzas, fries with parmesion) while he douses EVERYTHING in it-bagel and cream cheese, turkey sandwich. I actually had to move away from him while we were eating yesterday-it was way too powerful for my senses at that time. Like someone eating tuna salad with pepperochinis in bed or something.
Has anyone ever made those black bean brownies or chocolate cake?
I just made the brownies last week. The recipe I found was just bakers chocolate, butter, beans, eggs, instant coffee, agave, walnuts and sea salt. I found I had to bake them a bit longer than i was supposed to, but they turned out GREAT! Very dense and rich, they cut a lot easier after they were in the fridge overnight. My SO and I ate two pans in two days-hope they are low fat as well :)
ISO WILD BRUNCH PARTY RESTAURANT A LA NYC STYLE
Not sure what you mean by wild and crazy brunch...But there is great food and a wild and crazy wait at Gjelina on Abbot-Kinney....also a pretty wild and crazy make your own Bloody Mary bar at The Belmont on La Cienaga. They even have Slim Jims!!!

The Griddle Cafe: first visit
Am I the only one that thinks the Griddle is the worst of the worst? And I don't mean the crowd, service or wait...I mean the food is the worst ever. Although I do like the french press coffee.
Fruit Jellies [Candy]
I have for sure seen the Sunkist fruit gems in larger packs at Bed, Bath and Beyond, which has an interesting choice of hard to find candy (Cow Tails, anyone?)
Best naan?
I like East India Grill on La Brea and Oakwood. Great garlic naan, also my favorite korma.

The best barbecue caterer in the greater Los Angeles area
Notley Que. Based in San Diego, but will for sure cater in LA. AMAZING brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, even BBQ spaghetti and tofu for the vegetarians.
21st Bday...14 people...$500
I would go to cobras and matadors- it's byob, so that cuts more than half the bill right there. For 14 people, there's no way you will order $500 with of tapas. Plus, I find that sharing food is good for parties- it keeps the conversation flowing.
Bottomless Champagne or Mimosas on Westside?
World cafe on main street in Santa Monica has a bottomless mimosa.
Violet Crumbles
Beachwood market, canyon country store, turners liquor (on the corner of sunset/larabee, next to viper room), and candy baron, to name a few. Love those.

The Griddle Cafe
Never, ever, ever again. I KNEW how crappy it was, yet I talked myself into a quick breakfast while waiting for a prescription to be filled at Rite-Aid. Coffee was good, my huevos rancheros were not. A puddle of watery refried beans, some other, indecipherable sauce tossed in, with a sphere of rubbery melted orange cheese literally half an inch thick on top. I couldn't find eggs or tortillas in the whole mess. The best part was the avocado and sour cream that was an extra two dollars. I had about three bites and called it a day. $25 later, I was walking out. Service was fine, I was even offered a to-go cup for my coffee, which I thought was nice, unfortunately it wasn't enough to ever get me back. Denny's would have been an amazing breakfast in comparison, for a third of the price. I guess it was one of those things where you have to see if it's really as bad as you remembered. It was so much worse than that.
Disappointed with the Beef French Dip Sandwich at Philippe or Am I Missing Something?
I would bet money that the tray is a health-specific custom, because they also all wear gloves.

Also-how could I forget the candy stand? One of the only places I can find Sen-Sen!!
