Any suggestions for Sirmione?

Jen - you are the best resource for this area! Thank you! I'm looking for a lunch place, ideally on a terrace overlooking the lake (how surprising) on the West side of the Lake -- Salo, Limone or Gardone Riviera -- that is maybe more casual than some of the places you've suggested appear to be. We will be a larger group (20?).

Really random question - Chinese restaurant in Verona

I'm putting together a "tea ceremony" on my wedding day. Is there any decent Chinese food from which we might order some take-out platters?

Recommended restaurants (with outdoor space) for wedding reception - Near but outside Verona City

oh, awesome thanks for the tip. Wondering if anyone on this board has eaten at Ristorante Al Tesoro in Negrar. I found it on the Valpolicella.it.

Have you been to the Enoteca della Valpolicella - part of the Corteforte Vineyard/Agriturismo. I wonder if they do events. THey get a mention by Fred Plotkin.

Thanks for all of your helpful thoughts. We do have a wedding planner but they are not excited about the idea of doing it at a restaurant or agriturismo. I'll keep pushing though.

I apologize if this has been covered in a prior post. I remember seeing some discussion about the best restaurants in Valpolicella, but I can't find that post anymore. I am looking for a restaurant at which to host my wedding reception. Ideally, there would be some outdoor space, a garden, where we can have aperitivo in the afternoon sun, and then dinner either inside or outside. Delicious food is definitely a priority for me and my guests. I prefer not-too-fancy, but authentic and simple.
Does anything like this exist? We are mostly staying near Negrar. Thanks so much!!

"No Reservations: Verona" - Your help needed

This may be overly ambitious (particularly because I live in New York), BUT, I would love to plan a culinary tour (Bourdain-style) of Verona for a smaller group of wedding guests in September. My fiance is native Veronese, so language shouldn't be an issue. We love the show, and many of our guests are foodies seeking authentic, non-fussy, food experiences around the world. Can you help with a list of must-try places (from divey, streetside, cafes, to more upscale, but keep in mind we will be doing this all in one afternoon and evening)? We will be doing wine tasting another day, so wine does not have to be the focus, but is certainly a welcome complement.

Thanks!

Good dumplings (small, thin, homemade skin) in a sit-down restaurant -- like Shan Dong in San Francisco

Nothing in Manhattan? Do they have any decent dumplings (not soup dumplings) at 465 Shanghai?

Good dumplings (small, thin, homemade skin) in a sit-down restaurant -- like Shan Dong in San Francisco

I'm looking for a restaurant that has good dumplings (boiled and/or fried) that are comparable to Vanessa's or Super Taste. Does such a place exist in New York (preferably Manhattan). If any of you know Shan Dong on Irving in San Francisco, they do awesome regular dishes, e.g., their dry fried chicken, AND they have perfect boiled dumplings that come a dozen to a plate, are small, and have nice thin, homemade skin. Help me out! Thanks.

Someplace for drinks/early dinner after Citiy Hall

I'm getting hitched in a couple weeks! Looking for some near-ish spots for a drink or two that could bleed into dinner. It will be early, 3:30/4. I was thinking Annisa, but they don't serve dinner until 5:30. We will be with two small babies, so probably can't be anywhere too nice, although the early seating helps. Not looking for a scene, just someplace cozy with special food and great service where we can relax for a while.

Chow Sleuths -- Help me remember the name of a Munich restaurant

I went to an amazing spot three years ago. It was in a quiet neighborhood, a decent walk from the nearest subway. I remember there was an outdoor area, gravel, with chestnut trees overhead. The food was awesome. I had a pork chop, with crispy onions, they have the typical schnitzel, roasted potatoes. I've attached a couple pictures.

Picnic/wine lunch with dog in North Fork? Something like Old Field

Maybe One Woman?

Picnic/wine lunch with dog in North Fork? Something like Old Field

Hi,

We're driving out to Shelter Island tomorrow, but would like to stop at a couple vineyards on the way out. I'd really like to have a light picnic lunch at one of the vineyards, but we have a dog. My ideal spot would be something casual like Old Field, but unfortunately, they do not allow dogs (what with the roosters and chickens running around!). Is there anything else comparable? As for picnic fare, we'll probably stop at the Cheese shop in Mattituck on the way out.

Cheap eats within walking distance of Park Lane

I'm staying at the Intercontinental park lane for the next several days. Will be working late hours. Are there any good cheap eats within walking distance of the hotel? I know it's kind of a posh neighborhood. Happy with chinese, thai, indian, etc.!

Greenport/North Fork restaurants

Looking for a low-key dinner spot for me and two girlfriends (celebrating a wedding and a pregnancy). We are renting in Peconic. Friday dinner is at North Fork Table & Inn. I'm thinking about Greenport for Friday dinner. Someplace local, good food, not too loud, under $50/pp. Is Frisky Oyster any good?

Solo dining (at bar?) near Andaz Hotel by Liverpool Station

I'm traveling in London on business, and can't venture too far from my hotel (the Andaz on Liverpool) tonight. Is there any place where I can park myself at the bar or lounge and have a few drinks and eat a good meal? Are any of the restaurants in the Andaz decent? I'm traveling from NYC.

Good foodie happy hours

Hi - Looking for a restaurant with good happy hour (on food and drink) specials, e.g. Mermaid Oyster Bar. Preferably someplace below 23rd St. Thanks!

Shanghai Restaurants - Gift Certificates Available - Maybe a hotel is my best bet?

Didn't get any takers on my query below, so thinking a hotel might be my best bet for my parents. Any recs on hotel restaurants? Chinese food for two picky chinese eaters?

Parents' Anniversary Dinner in Shanghai - Gift Certificates Available?

My parents will be in Shanghai next week. They've been many times, but they are not the type to go to fancy places. It's also their 40th anniversary, so my brother and I would like to treat them to an amazing dining experience while they're there. Any suggestions, any places that would take my credit card or something to charge for the meal?

Need delivery ideas to NY Presbyterian (165th and Broadway)

A friend of mine is stuck in the hospital until her baby is born (they're trying to keep the little guy in for as long as possible). I want to send some food up their way to make their stay more comfortable. Any ideas? They're vegetarians. Cheese.. fruit.. doesnt have to be a conventional fruit basket (quantity and quality more important than presentation). Thanks!

Late lunch and World Cup (Spain v Portugal) in Midtown West

Hi -- looking for a good lunch spot or bar with good food (and drink!) where I can catch the 2pm game tomorrow afternoon. Boqueria and La Nacional are too far from my office near Radio City. Any suggestions in the low-to mid 50s, from 6th ave - b/w 6th and Broadway/7th Ave.?

Terroir Tribeca - Good for a group of 6

Hi, I'm trying to find a spot for a casual birthday dinner on Sunday evening. What are my chances of getting a table around 7pm on Sunday? Or do you think it's inadvisable to try to do a dinner here?

Two days in Miami

Flying down from New York this Friday and looking forward to some good eating. I've been to Miami many times, but not in 3 years. I'm thinking about something low key for Friday, cuban or haitian (Tap Tap sounds interesting), on South Beach or a cab ride away. I thought it might be fun to take my friend (who's never been to Miami) to something like Versailles on Friday. I was also looking at Red Light, but concerned about some negative reviews re: service.

I'm inclined to have my morning coffee and paper at News Cafe on Saturday for nostalgic reasons, but also considering brunch at Michael's? Any other thoughts, or comparable suggestions within South Beach?

We are staying at the Delano. Wedding is at the W on Saturday night, so dinner will be covered. I do not want steak or crab, and am not interested in a trendy scene.
Thanks!
