PIZZA!

Hey, I'm only in NYC for a couple days... want to have the quintessential slice of pizza... where do I go? Happy for a restaurant, a stand, whatever... just want that thin fold it in half pizza you hear about... Thanks!

Atlanta in August

If you are near The Virginia Highlands (worth the drive if you're not... funky shops, and for a bit more of a walk, gorgeous houses...) I would have to suggest Pozole for Mexican- absolutely killer... My boyfriend's mother lives within walking distance from that restaurant- we're in North Carolina- and although I love his mom, I get SO excited to get to eat there! Their margaritas are the best I've ever had- they make their own sour mix! I have loved everything I've eaten there... make sure you get the habenaro salsa when choosing your three salsas and I know it's a family trip, but order at least one margarita and share it with your hubby! The traditional is great, but the raspberry put me over the edge- they actually use chambord! Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is very cute. Here's the website- although honestly, the website makes it seem a little cheezy, it's not at all... go to the 'press' tab for a few pics of the place. www.pozolerestaurant.com Don't be fooled by the picture of the bar- if you go by 9 or so, it won't seem like a bar at all... there's a large dining area. Enjoy Atlanta!!!

Help me choose

I see you only have two nights, so you may want to stay as close to NOLA cuisine as possible, but I truly was in heaven at Lilette... the atmosphere is sweet... romantic, yet modern... the food was absolutely to die for, (i will spend as much time as needed to duplicate their raw salad...) and the prices were decent considering the thought, feel, and taste of every bite... you can see their menu online- although there were specials and a few differences from when looked at it and made reservations about a week ago. Would also be a great place just to go for a cocktail (cucumber martini was excellent and my boyfriend loved their Ward 8) and a small bite... they also serve lunch. Wherever you choose, have a blast!!! I can't wait to go back!!!

Any suggestions for cajun/creole vegetarian?

The Gumbo Shop blew my mind with their vegetarian beans and rice... they had black beans as their special this weekend... which they served with this little cup of...I don't know what it was... like a corn slaw... and wow, incredible. Although I eat vegetarian pretty strictly, I do like to sample new things if I am traveling and have the chance to try something of that particular area... my boyfriend got the platter that included 3 traditional dishes... shrimp creole, jambalaya, and traditional red beans and rice- and they all tasted wonderful- but, I still would have chosen my dish over any of his!

Another Muffelata Question...

I appreciate your comments! We had a WONDERFUL time on our trip... I did try Muffelatas at Central Grocery, Serio's, and Frank's... thought the best bread/olive salad was at Central Grocery... I just ordered as it was each time and gave the meat to my boyfriend- but, not before trying one bite the real way... just to experience it...

Another Muffelata Question...

I just wondered where in your opinion the best bread and olive salad alone would be because I can't eat the meat... but, the salad looks amazing to me, and I really want to try it... also, I don't mind taking the meat off my sandwich- but, will I offend if I ask for it without meat? I'd rather not waste... although I'm not sure my boyfriend would allow that to happen... And what about Serio's? Thanks- I only wish I had found this board earlier- I leave tomorrow afternoon!

decent bar food/drinks?

My boyfriend and I are heading to NO tomorrow for a long weekend... when I first started looking around at places to go our first night there, I stumbled upon what seemed the perfect first night in NO starter... we don't get into NO until early evening, and so I was looking for somewhere we could eat that offered a bar atmosphere with something else to eat other than definitive bar food... I came across Cobalts and was very excited... until I realized they closed... which while searching through the posts may not be a bad thing? Anyway, we are staying in the warehouse district, on magazine, so somewhere close to that would be great... any good suggestions for somewhere that would mirror what Cobalt's bar, at least, seemed to offer? Thank you!!!
