So you know, local families spend time with families...they don't eat out on special occassions...for a beach experience go to Beach Tree at the Four Seasons, for a faux gourmet meal try Merriman's in Waimea...good luck

Great Cocktails on the Big Island?
The Beach Tree at the Four Seasons has excellent ambiance and is perfect for a sunset cocktail...just tell the guard at the gate that you'd like to have drinks at the Restaurant/Bar...you won't be disappointed!
Honeymooning on Big Island, Where to Eat?
Another restaurant I've enjoyed a lot lately is Jackie Rey's in Kailua town.

Dinner suggestions for Amboise & Paris
Just had an excellent dinner at Le 36 at Le Choisel in Amboise
Le 36 at Le Choisel in Amboise
Just had an excellent dinner at this very elegant restaurant...when you are headed to Bordeaux this would be an excellent and rewarding stop...the ambiance is superior (overlooking the Loire), the service is exemplary, the food is delicious, and the wine list is a small novel...Bon appetit.
Le Comptoir at Relais St. Germain
While this may be the pinnacle of fine cafe dining and while I enjoyed my time there in many regards, one thing really stood out. My final selection was Dodine de Canard Farci avec Cerises Aigres Douce. It was beautifully presented, full of flavor and, in my opinion, was far beyond cafe food...bordering on gourmet. The meat was excellent, the sauce was delicate and flavorful, and the cherries provided an outstanding compliment to the overall taste. Just wanted to share a poor farmers opinion.
Gnocchi at Le Petite Cour, 8 Mabillon
Yes, it may be a gauche little restaurant stuck below street level and I would not waste your time mentioning it, except for one thing. I arrived to meet a young couple. We ordered a very nice bottle of 2003 La Sofia from Saint-Emilion and, as I sipped and perused the menu I noticed something I had not noticed before during this trip to Paris. There, in the middle of the page was gnocchi. I love good gnocchi and this was excellent stuff. The sauce was light but was full of flavor and the gnocchi was perfectly done. If I had the pleasure of living in Paris I would definitely, DES temps en temps, visit this restaurant just for the gnocchi. Just thought you might like my humble opinion.
Pinxo at the Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel
You are my French culinary hero...sorry that we differ on this place
Les Violon d'Ingres of Christian Constant et Stephane Schmidt
I've just had the most amazing lunch at this wonderful restaurant. I'll post a more complete review of my experience on my marquishungrybuddha blog but, the fois Gras with peaches was so mouthwatering and the tete du Veaux was amazingly succulent. I topped that with a vanilla and caramel soufflé ...heaven does exist and it's located at 135 rue Saint Dominique...Bon appetite.
Recommendations for single eater in 6th/7th?
Pinxo at the Paris Vendome Hotel, Les Violon d'Ingres, Les Cocottes, L'Atelier du Joel Robuchon...have eaten at each over the past week and, as a single diner, they were perfect...bonne chance
Pinxo at the Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel
During last year's visit to Paris I had the pleasure of dining at Frenchie. This year my first night's dining experience came at Pinxo. I must tell you that, if you have not had the enjoyment of partaking in the culinary artistry practiced here, you are missing an opportunity. This petite restaurant of Chef Alain Dutournier has a very nice menu offering presented in an elegant manner, has an extensive wine list, and has excellent service. I will offer a more extensive restaurant review on my blog, which I am not allowed to reference on this site, but, I am certain that you will not be disappointed with this culinary experience.
Big Island - farmers markets and fresh fish?
