Opinion on slow cooker - Cuisinart Multi-Cooker or others?
That's my second choice (the Crock-Pot Touchscreen) as I've read mostly positive reviews about it but I was intrigued by the Cuisinart Multi-Cooker as I do like the "all-in-one" nature of it. Thanks for the info.
Opinion on slow cooker - Cuisinart Multi-Cooker or others?
I've never had a problem with Cuisinart products (blender, stand mixer, bread maker) and I'm also considering this all-in-one model to replace an ancient Rival slow cooker - did you end up buying it?
Narrowing down Italian Choices
I went to Il Posto last night (Wednesday, Oct 12, 2011) for dinner in the private room. The service was appalling and the food mediocre, at best. I was surprised because Toronto Life has consistently given this restaurant good reviews. The waiter (and he's been there for quite some time) was snide and couldn't pour wine or water to save his life. One of our colleague's had their umbrella stolen from the front - they just grabbed the umbrella's from us without even asking if we wanted to keep them. No apology or offer of a spare. The food for the entire table was "meh" - I had grilled prawns that were overdone and rubbery. Definitely won't be going back. I can live with mediocre food if the service is great but not the other way around.

Cambro Containers in Toronto

Does anyone know where I can pick up Cambro containers (2-6 quart) in T.O.? Ideally, the CamSquares Poly - http://cool.cambro.com/product_line.aspx?rrn=2&plrn=57
Thanks.

Vegetarians - or those (like me) just leaning that way - which restaurants are best??
The vegetarian plate at "Jump" is quite good. I don't think it's vegan though. They also make a killer mushroom soup.
The Best Pizza
We tried this pizza a few weeks ago and weren't terribly impressed - run of the mill - a little above Pizza Pizza but not by much.
Things I ate/drank in college that I will never eat again
Tang, Coke and Canadian Club rye. Oy. Harsh. I'm gagging just thinking of those. I can't even remember what they were called - it might have just been a case of, "What mix is in the fridge?!?" LOL
Trying to find a particular pastry mat in Toronto
LOL - I just realised I read your alias wrong - I thought it said "Kajagoogoo" because I'm trapped in the 80s!!! But I'm also a big Akira fan too so win-win! :)
Trying to find a particular pastry mat in Toronto
Unfortunately, they don't appear to have the R&M one (don't ask)... great alias BTW - you're too shy, shy...hush hush
Trying to find a particular pastry mat in Toronto
It's the "R&M Silcone Pastry Mat":

Has anybody seen one around T.O. (downtown)?
Thanks!
Toronto Restaurants With Large Private Rooms
Sorry, I should have specified that - standing, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres
Toronto Restaurants With Large Private Rooms
Hi All:
I'm looking for the above in the downtown area. We're looking at approx. seventy (70) people. We had an event in the private room at Kultura (Jarvis/King) which was a resounding success but that space won't be big enough for our next one (it can only hold fifty - and that was TIGHT).
Any ideas...?
Thanks
Stephen.
Seeking a good restaurant with a big round booth or table for 8 people
I believe North 44 has round tables in the center of the room - the banquettes on the side are too small for eight people.
Columela Olive Oil on the Danforth/Downtown
Hi Chows:
Anybody know where I can find this olive oil (Cook's Illustrated is giving it a rave and I'd like to try it out).
Thanks.

Bacon Jam
Hello - does anybody know where I'd be able to buy "bacon jam" in Toronto? Gift for somebody who LOVES jam for Xmas. Thanks!
What kind of ham is "deli style ham":?
Hello - in Cook's Illustrated "The Best Light Recipe", they refer to an ingredient as "deli style ham" (it's an add on to macaroni and cheese). What kind of ham is deli style ham? Cooked? Black Forest?
Thanks!
Worst in Toronto
Hands down: "The Pickle Barrel"... I've had better food on airplanes. It's grotesque that the Yonge/Dundas location has stayed open for so long.
PEPPER GRINDERS
I'm OBSESSED with finding the ultimate pepper mill and, hands down, the best on the market today is the Unicorn Magnum 9". And that's after trying/buying dozens. It doesn't look pretty but function over form when it comes to grinding pepper!
All-Clad in Toronto
Hi everybody:
I'm thinking of taking the plunge on a good cookware set as my old one never really distributed heat all that well and I would like to purchase a better quality set. I'm looking at the All-Clad 14 piece stainless steel set approx $1100. A number of things:
Any comments on all clad? Is it worth the investment?
Alternative choices?
Does anyone own/use this set? Are there things to watch out for or things you wish the set included?
Anyone know of a place in GTA to buy the set and save some $$$?
Thanks
Stephen
Ground Turkey in Toronto
Thanks everybody! Ran over to Sobey's and lo-and-behold there it was. Okay, it was packaged but it'll work for today. Will DEFINITELY try out Fresh from the Farm next time.
Perigee Lately??
I went a couple a months ago and it has held up well (I also went when it first opened). I do miss the open kitchen and talking to the head chef though. Now it's cooking under glass... atmosphere is still great and the food stupendous. Great wine list.
Lock & Lock Storage Containers in Toronto
Hello:
Wondering if anybody knows of a retailer that sells Lock&Lock in Toronto? The U.S. manufacturer won't ship to Canada :(
Comparable recommendations for storage containers welcome too! NOT Rubbermaid!
Thanks.
Ground Turkey in Toronto
Hi Everybody:
I'm trying to find ground turkey in the Danforth area - I've tried Cumbrae's, Rowe Farms, Sun Valley, IGA and Loblaws to no avail. It seems to be the holy grail of ingredients. I found it on Google at Longo's but it's pretty far away (York Mills and Leslie). Anyone know of something closer?
Thanks!

"Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill Cookbook" Ingredients in Toronto

Hi All:
Just received the above cookbook and know absolutely nothing about finding ingredients for southwestern style cooking in Toronto. Here are some of the things I'm trying to locate (have searched Sun Valley, IGA and Carrot Common on the Danforth with no luck):
Fresh Chiles:

Fresno
Habanero
Poblano
Serrano
Dried Chiles
Ancho
Cascabel
Chile de Arbol
Guajillo
Pasilla
Also looking for Mexican Cinnamon (Canela), Spanish Cayenne and Cotija Cheese.
Thanks for any info!
