Pittsburgh: Restaurants Near Springhill Suites (Northside)

I like Hyde Park, they do a great steak and the bar is very nice too.

Pennsylvania Foods

Having lived in Philly for several years and now in Pittsburgh, I can assure you that Pittsburgh's problem with "narrow interputation" is a drop in the bucket in comparison.

anyone been to cafe zinho lately?

Guess he told you. Now go to time out!

Pgh Restaurant Closings/Changes

Now, that's good news! I noticed the same thing and thought they were gone.

Where can I find Banh Mi in Pittsburgh?

I know about Lucy in the Strip District, but are there any other places where I can get a Banh Mi sandwich??? I fell in love with this at a small take out place in San Francisco but haven't had much luck here.

Buy the way, Lucy's are great, but I want to try someone different!

Figeretti's in Wheeling

Glad you found Figeretti's! It's a great little local place. Wheeling's a tough place for a CH. They also sometimes get a fun bunch of locals at the bar.

Pgh Restaurant Closings/Changes

Another one is Amici, which just reciently opened at the site of Tambellani's on 51. Although it was very close to where I live, I never got a chance to eat there.

Pgh Restaurant Closings/Changes

Good idea! A place that comes to mind is Butya's, on Stubenville Pike (toward Robinson). This was really more of a bar than a fine dining establishment but they did do a pretty good lunch and a hugh fish sandwich!

Linguini's is a place that I've heard of but I haven't been able to find it!!?? Someone told me it was near Century III, but I can't seem to locate it. I was told that it can be good, but that there are some management problems. I'd still like to try it.

Easter Candy

You stole my first choice....Can't go wrong with Sarris. I wasn't aware of free shipping, I'll have to do that too.

Lidia's (Pgh) revisted

A two hour wait??? I'd be hard pressed to return to a place where that happened. That being said, I've been there several times with great service and food. I have to recommend that you give it another try, although I would understand if you didn't!

Pittsburgh - BBQ Catering

Yeah, I think it's called Pittsburgh BBQ. Not sure though. I've never tried it.

Pittsburgh - BBQ Catering

Here's a good one, Two Brothers BBQ. http://www.2brosbbq.com/

Mendoza Grill in Greentree (Pgh)?

Glad you liked it! It's just the kind of place that I like, (and you too I'm guessing), but you can see why I hesitate to recommend it sometimes. I think the best description of this place might be "quirky"!

Mendoza Grill in Greentree (Pgh)?

Report back about your experience! I sometimes hesitate to recommend this place because some might not like the suroundings, but I really like it and think the food is very good, and a good value.

Mileground in Morgantown, WV

I went past one last week, just below Back Bay called Yesterdays. It is part way down the hill in a small shopping center. I looks like a new building.

Mendoza Grill in Greentree (Pgh)?

yayadave, I agree. As long as you are OK with the atmosphere, (cantina's a good description) I would recommend it. The food is very good.

Good Place for Easter Brunch/Lunch in central PA?

You might try the Gamble Mill Inn in Belefounte (sp?). It's about 15 minutes from State College. I've not been there for a couple of years, but remember it as having a very nice, confortable atmosphere and one that I would like for a Easter meal.

The Best Italian in Pittsburgh

In addition to La Tavola, I really love Rico's, just off of McKnight Rd near Babcock. It still has the same atmosphere that you would expect many years ago...Old style, but clean. You can order just about anything, on or off the menu.

Where to lift a glass or three on St. Patrick's Day?

What part of the state?

The Best Italian in Pittsburgh

I'll second LaTavola, hidden away on Mount Washington. A great little little place with some very good Italian.

it's time for the crappy pots to go

If you ever get to the western part of the state, All Clad holds a sale twice a year, once in summer and right before Christmas. It's held at a racetrack called The Meadows, which is just south of Pittsburgh. The prices are anywhere from 30 to 70% off.

Stromboli Withdrawal

I can't stop laughing after reading your post! My sister has lived in San Francisco for the past 12 years and is now moving back to Pittsburgh because of the food! Can you believe that??? She claims that in a sea of great restaurants she can't get a sandwich without frickin' sprouts on it. I'm going to gain 20 pounds taking her out for pizza, perogies, and steak salads prepared the proper way: with cheese and french fries on top!

Pgh butcher for out of the ordinary cuts of meat

Tom Friday's, right outside of Bellvue, does a pretty good job.

Simple roasted chicken?

I agree! I'm on my second Showtime Rotisserie and it makes the best chicken I've ever had. I just use some type of a dry rub and let it go. The thing also makes tremendous prime rib. I have my butcher cut the bones off and then tie them back on to the roast for flavor. Who would think that stupid thing would work so well??!!??

Late Lunch recs for North Hills (Pgh)

Andora's is really a tremendous place...try the crabcakes!!!!

Visit to Pittsburgh - how's this list?

Panini, I know that I'm responding to a pretty old post but I just read this, and think I can clear up something for you (that you may not realize needs cleared up!!!).
The Big Jims in Greenfield (kind of under a bridge of the parkway east) that you visited is called Big Jims in the Run. Great food there, and huge portions. Big Jims Roadhouse is in Cecil...somewhere between Southpointe and Bridgeville. Also great food and huge portions. It's not much easier to find, but from your posts, I get the impression that you may know that area better. Anyway, Big Jim's Roadhouse is worth a visit too.

I think that I heard that there is some type of ownership link between the two.

Lidia's (Pgh) revisted

I'm with you Rick...I've never had a bad experience there. Actually just the opposite..It's always been tremendous.

foodies in Pittsburgh

I agree. both have excellent pancakes, but they are totally different styles. The Dorstop has thick, full figured great tasting cakes, while Pamela's are thin, with crispy edges. Both are very good!

Great meal at Rico's...

I haven't been to Rico's (just a few minutes north of Pittsburgh) for about 15 years and returned this week. What a great meal and experience! The place is still as it was and retains it's kind of "old school" charm, even to the point of Rico himself greating us at the door. The meal and service was really exceptional. I had Virginia Spots and my girlfriend had a sliced pork tenderloin that was just tremendous.

It won't be so long until I visit again!

Pittsburgh, BYOB, 8-10 people

La Tavola is a great, quaint local type of place. It's on Mount Washington...Dosen't have the view though...
