Azalea?

We tried it and were pleasantly surprised! Great fresh pasta with interesting add-ins. Good vibe to the place as well. Crowded, however, reservations seem to be a must!

What dish do you cook that people just rave about?

thanks - I forgot about this recipe and it's question! And your explanation sounds like a good one!

Rome and it's Eggplant Parmesian

We also ate at Taverna dei Fori Imperiali and Trattoria Monti - and there were two other places - one where we had napolitan pizza (not eggplant) but highly recommend it and another - also excellent - I will be back to post.

So wish I could imitate the eggplant.

Rome and it's Eggplant Parmesian

One place was Colline Emiliane - that is one that is often touted on here. But we found two others that were sensational - I will have to collect my receipts and put together my itinerary to share. I was thinking it was different eggplants? Something makes it so light. And also, those crusty edges........ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Rome and it's Eggplant Parmesian

While in Rome, we had Eggplant Parm three different places, which in and of itself is unusual for us as we generally never order it back home!. It was incredible at all three places. I am wondering what makes it so different. It definitely has something to do with the baking process - so light - not greasy - not even very saucy - absolutely delicious. Anyone know? Anyone have a FANTASTIC recipe to share. I have made it over the years, but nothing like what we enjoyed in Rome.

Passover Brownies

Nyleve, I am hoping you are still active on here - I think you might be - I had to search for this old post to be sure to post a BIG THANK YOU for a great recipe that will be a definite saver for years to come. Made these yummy brownies yesterday and they were a hit. Even cut one and presented it with whipped cream and a candle as a birthday celebration for my SIL!

dinner near Palau de la Musica

Thanks! We have just returned, and I will try to post some feedback from our experience. Bar del Pla was on our map as the place we would have gone to, however, we never made it. We had eaten a late lunch, our first in Barcelona, having just arrived that day, went to Tapas24 - and really pigged out! :)
ABSOLUTELY loved Barcelona.... the food....the wine.... the people. More at another time.

dinner near Palau de la Musica

I know we will be dragging as we will have arrived that morning. Hoping to stay awake for the concert! I think we will try Bar del Pla. I read great things about it - thanks for the suggestion. Is it far from the Hall? I'd better not drink too much great wine with dinner or, for sure, I will fall asleep! lol
Everything that I read about El Bixto was great as well - but I think we will be looking for more substantial hot stuff - so Bar del Pla will fit the bill perfectly! Thanks! I will be reporting back! Any great recs there?

Buying Saffron in Barcelona

Thanks, debbie, for the lesson. It is now clearer - and I will be looking for the hot and sweet.

dinner near Palau de la Musica

PBSF - thanks for the suggestions - I have only read about El Bixto thus far, and it sounds great and so close by - which is great as we will be struggling with jet lag. I am wondering, tho, because I read some reviews stating that it doesn't have a kitchen and most things are either cold or microwaved? Can you explain more?

We have reservations at Cinc Sentits - and feel that Sauc might be overload for us two days in a row. As for the pasta suggestion, we will be off to Rome for a few nights - so I am hoping to find some more local food for the area.

What to get at Cinc Sentits?

Does the whole party (in our case just the two of us) have to order the same - i.e. the truffle course - I will adore it I am sure, but my other half not so much.

On the hunt for Bottarga in Rome or Florence

Thanks for the intro to both bottarga and pistachio creme - we will be visiting Rome in a couple of weeks and will be sure to taste this on a menu. I am wondering what you do with the pistachio creme - and if and how it traveled back home?

Tickets vs. Cinc Sentits + other Barcelona restaurant questions

wow! hadn't realized the prices were that steep! Our trip to Barcelona and Rome is really centered around my food experiences, throwing in the sightseeing for good measure, but we shouldn't go for broke (stupid expression!)! We have reservations for Cinc Sentits for one night - we will be there for three nights. I have been trying to get reservations at either tickets or 41 degrees - but perhaps 41 degrees might be a wish for a return visit. It won't matter if I can't get the reservations anyway!
